I don’t know how I feel about this Makoto, but it might be time for me to hang up the gi. The easy mid screen damage is nice and all, but damn every time I hit an U1, it’s just like where the hell is the damage? I don’t know if her cr.MK was nerfed or not but it seems like it trades more often than not, or just plain get’s stuffed. I used to rely on that thing like a Sakura cr. HP. U2 is useless. Yeah ranked is seriously a shark pool right now, I’m getting my ass kicked every match, probably doesn’t help that I stopped playing AE for so long.

I’m just happy the Tsurugi nerf wasn’t even close to as bad as I expected. Still need to get used to all the new combos etc but so far I really like the new Makoto, no idea where she stands tier-wise yet though. So many changes to take in
this!!! I have noticed a change in cr mk too! I knew it was not my mind messing with me, it’s like the hit box got reduced or something. I don’t hit jump ins from as far away and I trade or get stuffed a lot when I use it.
it’s like that dash cancel timing change in abare tosanami from super to ae that no one noticed!
I’m having trouble dealing with Decapre. Her psycho sting is giving me a lot of trouble. Any tips?
Psycho sting is the DP, right ?
Can’t give much advice, but know that her DP is only invincible to one thing per version
LP is strike invincible, MP is projectile, HP is throw
Noticed this aswell. Thought I spaced my c.MK perfectly vs this Ken’s EX Air Tatsu, then it smacked me from behind and I lost because of it. Combo said that there were no changes outside of those mentioned in the changelist so maybe it’s just some stupid coincidence
And yeah I’m also on the fence with Mak. Maybe I just need a lil more time with her. The EX Fuki stuff is pretty cool I guess, got my IA MK Tsurugi punished for the first time, by Ryu EX DP… it hurt. Back throw nerf is more noticeable than I’d hoped. Plus is that Kara throw is a little better. I now need to adjust to buffering c.MP into EX Fuki when I have Bar. It’s awkward atm. U1 now not killing in situations where it would’ve killed last version also hurts

Most Decapre players probably don’t even know which version does what. For the ones that do, apply your standard 5 frame DP safe jump. I believe you can time s.MP to hit meaty if they DWU. c.MP punishes free
And they ain’t afraid to just fucking do it, Jesus. Not even Ryus are this uppercut happy. Probably because they’ve been getting away with it due to the unfamiliarity.

Adjusting to delayed wake up and all of these character changes is a chore. =_= I can’t tell when I can press buttons anymore. The backthrow nerf is becoming really noticeable too. Changes her game quite a bit in my opinion. Seemingly the worst nerf by far is the tsurugi constantly being thrown after them on block now…
Finally played Ultra today. I couldn’t get a single EX Fuki combo. I am too used to Hayate combos they just came out automatically. The one time my EX Fuki hit, I jumped cancel and dropped the follow up.
Didn’t even think about trying to crossup opponents, but I did get one random j.mk and managed to confirm the unexpected hit into a hayate. So I definitely like that it seems viable.
Played a rufus played and still killed him from like 1/3 life with Karakusa into U1. On top of that, I was not using EX Fuki to maximize damage. U1 nerf is definitely not going to have an effect on us.
I was using Double ultra against an Evil Ryu player and found it extremely effective. Shut down the fireballs and combo U1 for decent damage. The potential options were so good. I really think double ultra will be the way for shotos. Still got worthy damage from Karakusa U1 with it too.
I really like Ultra Mak from the short time I spent with here and I didn’t even get my Fukiage vortex on.
Damn true, the backthrow nerf is really annoying. I can’t count how many times I get punished from a whiff throw. With DWU we don’t need UKD’s anymore like before, we need to adjust. Our st.throw is really good and leave the opponent at cr.mp/st.mk range comboable into whatever now,so… Personally I don’t feel the U1 nerf, not even the tsurugi one.
What I understand from an offline session with my friends last night:
-ex fuki,j.hp into crossup j.mk don’t work on Blanka it seems, probably thanks to his crouching posture. After a blocked slide,cr.mpxx ex fuki is pretty easy;
-Elena is a bitch,no joke. All her hurtboxes seems fucked and her lows have an incredible range, watch out.
-cr.hk is good now when we wanna dizzy fast an opponent. With ex.fuki combos around, get grabbed by a 'kusa is more hurtful,so now has some utility outside matchups against grapplers.
-Against a dizzy Hugo, dash then FA.
-Hugo is too fun to play
I’m pretty satisfied overall, never done before so many stun like in USF4. Even the meter management works fine (at least for me). It’s still early for a total judgement, but imo Makoto can still be a treat in this game, seems more easy win with her.

guys, what do I do about t hawk and zangief with their ridiculous buffs to condor spire? and banishing flat (lp)? they move soo fast and I get grabbed everytime! how is it ok for grapplers to move across the screen so fast?
ok, so with u2, you only loose the ultra meter when you get hit on startup and I guess you’re airborn. well, that’s what it looks like to me. also, I know I mentioned this already but… cr mk is busted! I got thrown on block after mk IAT and that’s pretty retarded! I can’t tech at all with backthrow, YOU GET THROWN! yeah ex fuki is all great and shit but it doesn’t make up for the stupid shit that’s going on when you get pinned down in the corner…

t hawks condor spire is prone to focus attack, also both green hand and spire are easy to whiff punish if you’re standing at the right range which is about where they can walk into a crouching hk or forward hp
Can someone with access to Ultra test and tell me if h.Hayate or m.Tsurugi pushes further after EX Fukiage?
HP Hayate and Tsurugis both push back pretty much the same distance.
dash > LP Hayate however pushes back further.
Against Hugo if you land a focus attack you can dash forward and do not-quite-instant tsurugi and it will cross up and hit him. Keeps him grounded for a full combo, switches sides and looks pretty cool!
I think red focus is going to help makoto deal with footsie game pressure better. Guy is trying to hit you with some frame traps? Red focus and if you hit him he’s taking the D for damage.
Also i wonder how viable turning one of Makotos pokes like St.HK into a massive combo started with RFA (obviously that would be hard to hit confirm =/). Wonder if MK target combo is RFA able (havent checked and i’m getting some ZzZs check later).
Really liking her USF4 incarnation.
I just wish the RFA input wasn’t so damn awkward on a 360 pad. Might have to just mash all four face buttons. Should work right?
We can’t cancel the second hit of TC2 right? If we could we could get some pretty hefty punishes from range.
