Well, Hugo’s normals reach like half the screen, it seems hard to approach him. He can confirm crLK into super into air grab / U2 for INSANE DAMAGE
His air grab grabbed every tsurugi, even very low ones. It’s a lot better than say, Abel air grab.
Look pretty easy for him to slap you when you dash to him.
T.Hawk has always been hard, but his extra move speed is scary. He can dance in and out our range a lot easier now.
What scared me it’s the running grab. If he take us into the corner,it’s almost finish. Who knows if U2 can overlap him to escape the corner. Impressive how Hugo can grab us during IAT. Fuckin’ crazy.
…man, cross under Ex.fukiage was going to be glorious…so was jc.fukiage on block. Oh well. At least Ex.oroshi throw invulnerability is confirmed. Hopefully it stays in the game along with j.MK. Really if just those two were the only changes I’d be happy…but we can always dream. I wonder how good j.MK is now.
we already can’t tsurugi much vs thawk / gief due to SPD / U1, i don’t think it’s going to be that hard to adjust. just no more max range HK tsurugi etc. how often does ryu /react/ to tsurugi to DP as opposed to a good read? its quite hard.
imo not too much point worrying until we see how the hitboxes interact (does makoto have 1 button that shuts everything down?) or if one character has character-specific combos that swing the match one way or another. hugo is ENORMOUS, after all, i bet so many characters have instant / fuzzy overheads that will be unpunishable on hit or block … plus, his jumpins have historically been pretty ass, so you never know how the zoning game will play out.
although, seeing him in action really makes me miss makoto’s universal overhead. that’d be something cool to see come back.
bummer about x-up fukiage; it might be character specific (eg. vs super wide chars like makoto or hakan), or gone for good. did anyone else test it out with any other setups?
oh WOW! the nerfs are soo noticeable! Ultra 1 damage reduction, back throw range reduced and finally what the hell with the karakusa recovery? oh man, she wiffs karakusa and stands there all day or are my eyes playing tricks on me?
what is the point of the back throw range reduction? was it over powered or did they just do this to promote the forward throw? seems like they want her to be more like the offensive stun monster that she was in 3rd strike but I think they’re going about it in the wrong way.
also, did anyone notice how often her normal and even her tsurigi would go the wrong way after a cross under?
I can not wait to start using that, although I’m not sure what will be more useful, the corner placement or air reset mixup now that we have midscreen combos. It’s going to allow for a lot more flexibility in Makoto play styles. I’m a little upset that EX.fukiage jump cancel on block isn’t going to carry over, especially after seeing it on stream. I mean come on, most characters have at least one safe EX move ( I’m looking at you Rufus EX.messiah). I guess EX.oroshi will have to do, it being throw invulnerable and all. Although I’m sure they didn’t change the invincibility until the active frames and it’s still -4 on block!
(havn’t had the time to check out all the changes yet) THat actually makes me really happy, was one of my least favorite moves in the game. Looks like his followups are going be 3f punishable! f.LP ->EX.fukiage-> … hell yea! Doesn’t change the fact that Makoto doesn’t have any safe Ex moves.
Not gonna lie. Seeing that st.M/HP go into EX Fukiage looks pretty dam strong, lol. Her mid-screen game just went into a whole, nutha, level. I personally probably won’t be able to do much, but I can only imagine the set ups and tricks that’ll come out with this new link. People are gonna be reversing for their lives.
I’m pretty curious if everything that you can link into a Hayate (from AE) will be able to link into a EX Fukiage. i.e. cr.lp,st.lp,cr.lk/st.mp EX Fukiage.
It has been confirmed that everything can be canceled into ExFukiage. So basically things like cr.LKxxEXHayate will be replaced by cr.LKxxEXFukiage.
The most interesting part is that forward LP also does, which means we can now land a massive 3f punish.
It also implies that we should theoretically be able to hit confirm our cr.LK: cr.LK>f.LPxxExFukiage, but it’s a non plinkable 1f link.
I think she will still retain her EX Fukiage, j.HP ambigious Mixups afterwards: (dash, whiff s.MK to stay in front - dash only to get behind).
So with only one bar you can already wreck the opponent.
I hope reduced backthrow won’t be too shabby.
Does c.LK combo into EX Fukiage?
Does EX Fukiage go through Projectiles or is somehow invul against Lows/Mids?
