Makoto Strategy and Match-ups

I’m having problems against Cammy !

A LOT !

don’t forget people can easily jab you out of EX oroshi…

Vicious uses Makoto in the first match vs. Guy. Watch and discuss plz

I personally think it’s already a hard match for Makoto (who didn’t see that coming?)

Guy’s cr.Strong pretty much beats everything Makoto has pokewise (and at times, trades with her s.roundhouse). On top of that, Guy already can kinda run circles around her. (with Fuikage all to worry about. But Guy’s jump’s so high and floaty, it’d have to be pretty deep.)

Most of those throws i’m sure he was teching but with downback throw tech window being so much smaller in super, it hurts. It’s a bit better than the Makoto/Boxer match posted but not by much (and that’s mainly on Makoto’s end.)

This is why you mix in oroshis that whiff.

Ug why did he have to mess up that second karakusa combo? It cost him the first round. The second round he could have punished that Ex hurricane kick with cr.MPxxEX Hayate if he didn’t whiff that karakusa. Man, I think he could have won that game with a bit more patience and better execution. I don’t mean to be the guy that nitpicks good players I just want to see some Makoto wins lol.

Not sure what to say… That first round was his… I hate when that happens… :frowning:

He seemed to do alright, minus not teching. I mean, the Mak player’s execution needs some fine tuning, but he seemed like he knew what he wanted to do. :stuck_out_tongue:

In the second and third round, he used Mak again vs Mike Ross T-Hawk. And won the second
(Yeah, yeah and lost the third…)

Mak player was pretty good. In his first match, he should have backdashed after Hayates more, since Hawk was ALWAYS pushing buttons (Super Button Presser IV ftw). Aside from that, it was a good round.

In the second round, he should have backdashed out of pressure a little more. It seems like he didn’t accurately adjust his playstyle. When Hawk became more aggressive, Mak should have been a little more patient. Non FADCable DP on the opponent’s wake up? That shit’s free.

I think he didn’t respect the SPD enough in the second match. You don’t sit that close to Gief, so you shouldn’t sit that close to Hawk either.

Either way, thanks for the posting.

You can punish blocked condor dives with dash>karakusa>whatever. I don’t know this matchup very much but I have had success mashing backdash against hawks that love to mash reversals at all times. Also you have to space your pokes well in this matchup.

Not sure if you guys noticed; but iPlayWinner has put up their first draft of their Tier List in SSF4 (which is to be updated monthly) Apparently the whole project was directed by Ryan “Filipino Champ” Ramirez and he contacted many top players across the country (Justin Wong, Floe, Marn, John Choi, Ricky Ortiz, Keno, Tatsu, etc…) for this match-up chart.

A: Rufus, Akuma, Abel, Dictator, Boxer, Ryu, Chun Li

B+: Ibuki, Zangief, E. Honda, Blanka, Sagat, Guile, T Hawk, Juri

B: El Fuerte, Dhalsim, Cammy, Fei Long, Ken, Seth, C. Viper

C: DeeJay, Adon, Dudley, Cody, Gouken, Claw

D: Rose, Gen, Hakan, Guy, Makoto, Sakura, Dan

lol… pretty hilarious since my Vanilla main was Sakura, and my Super main is Makoto. Looks like I’m destined for Low-Tier! :china: Won’t stop me from playing her though!

Tier lists this early are worthless.

^^ true talk.

rofl, Gen is easily mid tier now, and there is no way that dudley and cody are that low, they are easily B+ maybe even A, There is no way dicator went up that much, AFAIK nothing hardly changed at all for him. Sakura is easily B tier, she got her godly crossup back. Sagat won’t move in tiers AT ALL, the only thing they changed for him was his damage and health. He could die in 3 hits but if you still can’t touch him it doesn’t matter. And guile is easily top tier now. And T Hawk is a bit higher than he should be, maybe in B or B- tier.

Of course these are opinion based. But my point is, the tiers are pointless right now, nobody knows what the fuck to do with makoto. or what the fuck to do against her. She might suck today because you cant karakusa very well. But tomorrow someone finds some setup that makes her god tier and people start asking to ban her from tournys, that is until next week when someone finds a way around it.

We need time for characters to develop, give it 3-4 months and we will have an early SKETCH of tiers, then another 4 months after that we will have some decent looking tiers. But they will still move up and down based on what is discovered.

One thing to notice as well about the list. Look at the matchup charts. Really look at them, and think about it. With matchup charts like those. do tier lists really matter? This is honestly how i think it will be. Lots of 4-6 5-5 6-4 matchups and very few if any 3-7 and 7-3 matchups.

Seriously look at dan, he has no 3-7 matchups. full 4-6 matchups is easily tournament capable.

Im curious though.

how did Sakuras matchup with zangief become a 3.5-6.5 in Super when in SF4 it was a 4-6 when she got better and he got worse?

Not really accurate if you ask me.

and lastly, look who posted it, it was haunts, that fuckin guy has had it out for makoto since day one.

hey didn’t i play you the other day? balrog and honda vs makoto. those feel like pretty rough fights for our little farmgirl. i don’t think she can do much about jab hands -> hands -> hands, lol.

i’m really rather tired of 3 week later tier lists. There’s only been 1 major with Super in it and Tiers are being formed by the “top players”?. Yea…

*runs back to playing Chun-Li and forgets about playing Makoto

LOL, na im just playing. I still like Makoto because now she’s part of the wildcard characters. In addition, she’s going to be slept on until someone takes her to tourney and creates some massive carnage.

How is Abel A?
