Yeah, You can’t reversal U1 her if she has proper U1 setups.

You can U2 her if she activates U1 without you being knockdown tho. Leads me to take W Ultra against her.

What would you guys say about the Decapre Match-up? At first I thought most of Decapre’s moves are focusable, but she’s so quick on her normals that focusing isn’t an option. Her air game is really good and her safe hands makes her ground game on par with bison lk scissor pressure. The only way I can even do damage to Decapre is when she is sometimes punished for her DP at the end of her blockstrings and when I catch her mid teleport with nj.MP. Other than that this match-up is tough.

Makoto loses, but like every match-up, 2 reads and you win.

blocked psycho sting = dash up xx put your stick down, check the time, get a drink, sit back down, check the move list, and pick a move at random

but seriously, you can dash up fierce xx hc, strong xx ex fuki/hayate

the crossup tsurugi setups make her psycho sting whiff. Punish hard

A good decapre won’t do hands you can punish, but if they are bad jab hands; your only option is f.lp xx ex fuki
any other non ex hands gets hit by mp xx whatever

Her wakeup isn’t too hot w/o meter

the matchup isn’t very tricky, you should get at least one opportunity to do Makoto things

I regularly get hit on either side of Decapre when she does a Psycho Sting. I think it’s a hitbox issue. It’s extremely frustrating.

Do we have a good way of AAing her jump back dive kick? The angle it comes in it is crazy and the EX version does axe kick levels of chip damage.

You can focus it, or you can predict it and axekick a little before she does it. Brent was doing a early divekick with Rufus to catch Kbrad’s decapre air spirral like that, seem to work wonder.

Any tips/tech vs Poison? Anything.
She’s driving me insane.

All I know is that we can throw some of her wake up DPs. Everything else I think she’s got a pretty solid answer for.

I personally think her wake-up options are very poor as her DP is very risky and her back flip pushes her towards the corner. I would advise against attempting to meaty poison as trades with her DP tend to be favoured toward her landing a rekka or U1. Instead try and force her to use the backflip and catch it in its recovery for large amounts of damage. Also neutral jumping is great against poison as her DP whiffs and her jump towards HP is decivingly small for its appearent animation and can be low profiled with a cr.mk.

Yeah, not a fun one if the Honda player is smart. But it’s winnable. kara EX Fuki punish Medium and heavy headbutt, crMP punish ex headbutt. You can bait the ex headbutt anti airs with kara axekicks, and if you kill his charge he’s very weak on wakeup.

Had to fight Hoodaman recently. He told me straight up after he spanked my shit that U1 punishes a blocked EX Headbutt cold in Ultra because of the pushback nerf that it got. Went in the lab to check it out; he was not wrong. Safe jump set ups for EX Headbutt > U1 punish.

Hoodaman also mentioned there are option selects Makoto can use that are particularly effective against Honda’s buttslam. Here’s the video of Vryu showing us exactly that.

How do you deal with online Blanka hop bullshit? Is he hit invincible or what?

Cr.lp is the way. Mash it. You can also use ex karakusa sometimes, can autocorrect, but is risky especially if Blanka wait for it. His hops are practically airborne when active,low moves like cr.hp or cr.lk don’t hit him. Cr.lp isn’t that low and I’d quicker than cr.mp/mk.

Why does every Makoto I face online use Ultra 2 against her? Maybe if it still had strike invincibility I could understand it but in Ultra I don’t see why you wouldn’t just go with U1 for damage.
