Makoto AE 2012: the nerfage

The more I practice, the more and more I like AE Makoto’s wake-up game. Late crouch tech into Fukiage on jump covers most grappler-specific wake-up strategies, and EX Karakusa is for when you’ve trained THEM to attack. The risk vs. reward is still in an opponent’s favor, especially in the hands of anyone with an armor breaker meaty (Dan, Sakura, Makoto, Blanka, and the twins, off the top of my head), but I feel like being able to blow up 90% of offensive options with EX Karakusa/IA Tsurugi into U1 is pretty great.

… Except for command grabs and dive kicks. Fuck that shit.

Does this complaining come from Japan? Kinda weird since even the best Mak players over there aren’t exactly dominating the scene; they’re doing good, but not Fei Long good.

Makoto should have been left as is she was perfect as she is now even with her weaknesses.

Yup this was straight from japan. Farplaner translated a little of it for me. Actually, it looked like they were complaining about a lot of stuff. I was reading this on another thread and some guy translated the Yun secion and said that every other sentence was “too strong” lol.

It’s somewhat comforting to know that whining can be all over the world. We’re not so different after all.

Round 2, here’s hoping she doesn’t get hit with significant nerfs. We’ve been lucky with round 1. Find out tomorrow what they have changed from jump from alpha to beta.

seriously, except damage/stun (and they arent that high compared to other characters), I cannot see anything be nerfed without killing her gameplay?

less frame advantage on stMP => lol
EX hayate slower => lol
(ex) hayate more punishable on block => lol
no invulnerability on fukiage => lol
EX oroshi slower => lol

the only things I could see are…BUFFS. hahahahaha

oh, i forgot.
Need full hit on abare tosanami when hit in the air (no more whiffing hits please…)

Ok let me take a crack at this. Buffs I’m looking for but wont get:

-Combo out of TC2 (!)
-Hayate Cancel down from 12 frames to 11 Frames so Fierce feint Fierce feint Strong, TC1, EX Hayate now possible 1f links)
-OR s.HP +1 frames of hitstun (FFFFS possible here too)
-Karakusa recovery changed to 3S values so recovers in time to block Neutral jump attack (or fukiage it :D)
-U2 LK and MK startup reduced from 15+1+0 to 10+1+0, so wherever LK and MK U2 hit, s.HP, HC, U2 is possible (1f link unless +1f extra hitstun on s.HP then its 2f link)
-Super duration increased from 13 seconds to 20 seconds. Loses abilty to block, but gains ability to parry (!)

Hmm what else. Oh yeah in case they want her OP

-The charged Hayate we talked about.
-22f back dash
-overhead Tsurugi
-Recovery on Tsurugi decreased 2 frames

I really can’t see any nerfs coming. I wouldn’t be surprised if there were no notes on Makoto or if they just changed her back to 1000 health or something. I dont’ see many changes. If we do get something I hope its good. but lets expect the worst. I think vryu’s list is accurate lmao.

stHP -> LP oroshi would do 2 hit (stHP -> LP oroshi -> FADC -> stHP -> LP oroshi -> FADC -> FFultra1. ROFL damage).

leaked note of tomorrow (approximative translation):

• Reduced health from 950 to 900, stun from 1050 to 950

• All Fukiage startup frames increased by 3. No longer upperbody invulnerability, but gains legs invulnerability

• Frames advantage after landing a Karakusa is now +5, down from +12

• Abare Tosanami cannot be jump or dash cancel if only the first hit hits opponent (in the air)

• Standing Medium punch is now +2 on hit, down from +5.

• Light and medium Tsurugi are now overhead

• Light and medium Tsurugi are now -5 on hit, -12 on block

• Every Hayate (except EX) are now unblockable when reaching Lv3

• Lv3 Hayate is now reached by waiting 332 frames

• Makoto can use her taunt after hitting with Hayate, just like 3rd strike

Is this a joke? If this shit is true, I’m quitting AE and sticking with 3S. This entire list is a whole lot of WTF.

Does the change to Fuki mean we don’t have her corner combo anymore? Also, WTF is up with leg invincibility? We use that shit to hit people out of the air.

Overhead Tsurugis are cool but they’re negative on hit and have ridiculous recovery.
