I want to place some more emphasis on this. This is probably a glitch I think, but it is gdlk!
Can anyone explain to me how come the Gaia Super (dp + 2atk) hits full screen and sometimes it doesn’t. I can actually never get it to hit, but I’ve seen plenty people do it via youtube and the like. Thanks!
When you do Elemental Rage (Gaia Super), if you don’t hold any buttons, the ice block appears right in front of Storm. If you hold L, it appears about mid-screen in front of her. If you hold M or H, it appears full screen.
Also note that while it looks like Storm pulls them closer with the ice block, She is actually moving towards them. So if you are cornered but you land a flight combo and do Elemental Rage OTG (hold M or H), you actually end up cornering them.
I have to be playing storm wrong today I got wrecked Instant overhead mixed with lows are just not cutting it anymore. One good push back and it’s pressure released. Then if I correctly predict the push block call a assit it just does not work to keep the pressure on. There has to be more resets and tricks I am obviously missing throw setups I need to throw more. Also option selects throw how does this work in mvc3.
try more stuff like st. m, jc. addf to get back in there. storm is really fast, you have to go mvc2 if you wanna rush down
I just realized this the other day, having played storm since the beginning I feel really dumb
It’s in my sig…it’s on EventHubs, so I dunno if SRK will delete it or not.
It’s just the first version, but give feedback on what you think of it!
good job, way to put the work in.
Do you have access to frame data.
It would be nice to have the data paired up with the move, at least start up/ active and hit stun/ block stun/ and inpotential invincibity frames would be the bees knees.
We have frame data pretty quick for SF4, I wonder why its taking so long to get it for MVC3
I also think that you highly underestimate the potential of Elemental Rage.
As well as Storms strong suit (even if it turns out to be temporary) the DHC glitch setup.
Yeah, I replied to you over at the Character Forum…NICE Storm AVatar, BTW!!!
But I will add Frame Data later and as soon as possible. And I posted my thoughts on the DHC glitch/trick as well.
I was wondering if I should start Storm in my team. She currently seems to me my weakest link, I don’t seem to get in with her as much as I do with my other two chars.
As far as your final team goes, I would stick to the order you have now. Wesker is a better battery than Storm, and it’s still easy to use the DHC glitch with that team order, but it would rely on an aerial exchange. Aerial exchange to Storm, j.H, j.S DHC glitch. Problem solved. That being said, when I feel one of my characters is a weak link, especially when I’m learning a new team or even just one character, I put that character on point first for awhile until they become more comfortable to me. Seems to help.
If you think Storm is your weakest link, it might just mean you need to zone a bit more and try to force your way in less. That was my problem for awhile. Or perhaps you just need to pick up a couple new approaches. Maybe super jump then float and call drones more. Time it so they hit them as you cross over them if possible. Drones help a lot to cover her approach, but maybe try Samurai Edge assist more during your ground game and practice unblockables more often.
Thanks for all the help Andy! I’m definitely feeling some of the things you said. It may be the way I’m playing Storm. I think I have a working rhythm with Wesker + Sent drones as in Sent is always protected and Wesker is always covered so I can apply my options. The same doesn’t seem to be true with Storm, she either exposes Sent too much or I can’t capitalize on the drones cover/hit. I will work on the float + drones thing, iirc float is a regular jump state right?
After that I might work on adding Lighting Attack and Lighting Sphere to my game, they seem largely underused. Also the Zero match up with Storm.
Thank you for the insights! ^ ^
No problem!
I don’t know the exacts of float state, I assumed it was a glitch, I just know it’s amazing that you can super jump and call assists!
Lightning Sphere is definitely under-rated, I’ve been using it more and more lately, but it’s difficult to explain when I like to use it. Lightning Attack has all kinds of uses, just keep it safe! And never forget you can cancel your Double Typhoon recovery with it! If you use Double Typhoon from the air at mid-range and you see it hit, Lightning Attack x 2 xx Lightning Storm! Otherwise you can Lightning Attack away to make Double Typhoon a little safer.
Lightning Sphere is good for covering areas of the screen that Storm usually can’t. Whirlwind does a good job of covering horizontal space, especially against other projectiles, but the ability to shoot Lightning Sphere diagonally often makes it the superior choice in the air. It also stays on the screen longer than whirlwind, so it can mess with the opponent’s options more.
a weird question, if i try to do 88S (instant float over head) and i get double jump instead, am i doing it too fast or to slow?
i tried to play around with the timing but i can’t get any final judgment about it.
Too slow. You want to do it really fast, which I think actually makes it easier (slower and it would involve shudder timing). However, and hopefully someone can confirm or deny this, I’ve found if you do it off a JC-able normal (sM, cH), you need to delay for a split sec before hitting up up. If I just rapid-fire sM~up~up it never works right.
Edit: New question- we know Storm can sj, float, then call assists from SJ height. I was wondering what you guys felt were the most useful assists for abusing this? I play a lot of Tron and when I do the Storm-thang, I like to try and hit Tron assists when flying over them, but sometimes I wonder if maybe beams or drones or jame sessions, etc, might not be more useful. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Thanks!
When doing instant float, make sure you hold the second up command.
As for SJ Float assisting, I really like Thor’s Mighty Smash or Logan’s Berserker Barrage if they are still on the ground. I call them as I cross over above, then drop and launch them. Other cool ones might be:
Shield Slash
Molecular Shield (I’m considering switching to this)
Dark Hole
Balloon Bomb (maybe?)
Uni-Beam
Hyper Gravitation
Clothesline
Web Ball (maybe?)
Stone Smite
Cold Star
Dagger Toss
Fire Bottle Toss
Gun Fire
Hyakuretsukyaku
Crystal
Weasel Shot
Double Lariat
Tatsu (either shoto)
Wire Grapple L
Armor Piercer (might be hard to use, but very awesome!)
Trick "Peekaboo"
Bonne Strike
Shippuga (maybe?)
Sentinel Force L
Aim Master L
Senpu Bu
Mystic Ray
Cartwheel Kick
Arrow Kick
Also, it should be fairly easy, with some practice, for Storm to set up unblockables against grounded opponents with any low-hitting assist. Either meter-building assist wouldn’t be a bad idea either.
Fact is, she can use almost anything!
she can fly and call assist from super jump if you super jump and tiger knee the fly.
This is pretty amazing actually. Hover + assist is a pretty defensive play. Fly + assist is very offensive too.
Storm sj. > float > call Trish peekaboo = trolls tactics
I dunno if anyone else mentioned it, but sj. float into dash df+S is so good. Better than Dormammu and Magneto because unlike their triangle jumps they cant change the arc or the timing on them coming down.
And for the ones who get hip to what youre doing you can always just jump up there and call assist, and make them feel crazy for trying to anti-air you.
Storm is looking like probably one of the few characters in this game that you HAVE to know when to zone and when to rushdown.
I’ve also been working on some mixups after getting them stuck in Ammy’s cold star. She has enough time to wavedash and then jump over then to the other side. Ugly stuff.
I also love how I can cancel a j.S into whirlwind. Constantly pushing them out. I’m trying to make Storm as frustrating as possible. I also didnt know the x3 LA was a glitch. No wonder I couldnt get it consistently.
