MAKE IT RAIN! - The Storm Thread

Right, with the appearance of character forums I’m gonna do some work to beef this thread up a bit. I’ll not work on it now as it’s getting late over here and I’m almost ready to sleep, but tomorrow I’ll get on it.

i am got the game and i am gona be playing mag storm and chun so i can test anything people need tested till release date. ill just do this for chun and storm cause mag seems to be covered

Played her today she’s pretty good. Her triangle j. A is solid because she can jump cancel from st. B (really solid normal) and cr. C. However, it has VERY little hit stun and I couldn’t consistently get cr. A to combo afterwards unless i hit them in the shins. The timing is also awkward only way i could get it to work in a blockstring was sj. backwards … pause … dash downforward … pause j.A. When you Triangle Dash you can’t immediately attack with her, it’s like you have to wait a couple frames making things awkward.

dashxxst.E is still a pretty solid anti-air.

I got cr.Axxst.Bxxcr.C -> j.B-j.Bxxdashdownxxst.Bxxst.Exxair combo to work.
Also I found out if you do that combo but after the second st. B do TK Lightning Storm You can combo DHC’s like Dante’s trickshot and Sent’s Hyper Sentinel Force.

Other Notes:

Lightning Attack doesn’t have invincibility (assist or otherwise)

Also I doubt she’s the best character in the game. Good, but off the bat ammy seems better than her by a good margin. Instant overhead into lol 80% no XF is just too good.

Cool Trick:
If you end a combo in the corner with j. E you can cross them up into the corner by using Lightning Attack.

Haven’t experimented much with her air dash and fundamentals yet though.

her triangle jump may not be such a big problem cause she has the up hold up S overhead thing

Was able to get triangle jump,cr.a,st.b,cr.c,j.b,j.b,j.c,st.b,st.c,st.e,j.b,j.c,airdash,j.b,j.c,lightning attack x2 , lightning super

Ive had the game for a week now and storms better used as a keep away character in this game… I use triple lightning attack across the screen to escape rushdown alot seeming it goes through blocking characters… Lp whirlwind when they get close and super jump lightning ball can be done twice for chip before doing typhoon in the air…

Also you cant move in the air after lightning attack, holding up or using typhoon

Anybody have numbers on Storm chip damage on her super?

How is her new ground super (“By the power of Gaia! By the power of the Wind!”) looking? Does it have much use outside of a combo?

i donno if it’s been mentioned but storms keep away game is pretty retarded. her whirlwind pushes the opponent back fullscreen and you can do it in the air. i can literally keep someone out almost the entire match spamming it and comfirming hail storm off assists when the opponent slips up. it’s pretty stupid.

I was literally only able to see about 1 minute of a stream last night but it looked like Storm can use flight to extend her combos similar to what was shown in Phoenix’s reveal trailer. I wasn’t sure cause it happened so fast, but can anyone confirm?

Chip is always 30% of normal damage I believe.

I believe all flight characters can use this to extend their combos. Storm in particular seems to be able to do two extensions: launch->magic->flight->magic->air dash->magic.

Maybe it’s possible to air dash before flight for a third extension, I don’t know.

In mvc2 you could do both with storm and she was more versatile… in this though rushing down doesnt have the same benefits due to her damage output being low

Like Magneto, Storm is better suited to keepaway until the opponent gets in your face. Only then should you focus on rushdown.

Im not arguing that Storm plays a better keepaway game this go round, but as a rushdown shes no slouch. Chip on lvl 3 Xfactor is fucking stupid, she can still be a bitch. No meter building on whiff just takes away from her incentive to runaway and build meter.

Ok so, best combo I got was Crouch A B C E, jump, B, B, Lightning Attack, Lightning Attack, super.

If you snap her in from a combo you can do the B, B etc, which is really good. Then DHC it into something else to get her back out.

few things:

-lightning attack is not safe after whiff in the air. that means no running away with lightning attack anymore. she can’t block on the way down or do anything.

-icestorm is not a full screen super anymore. you can avoid the whole thing underneath storm and the upper adjacent corner

I never use ice storm in those situations anyway.
