Maj quits and thanks eventhubs for stealing!

That’s what I’m saying. I’m sure he could work out some kind of win/win situation with a lot of the sites that link his content, that revolve around revenue sharing. He could negotiate a deal where he gets a cut of the ad revenue. Imo, it would be in EH best interest to do this because otherwise they just lose out on his great content, which in turn would drive less traffic to their site, which in turn means less ad revenue, etc…

How the fuck are ya?

He did.

This will end well.

Im not certain. I haven’t been with EH from the beginning, but I think EH got most of its popularity from the EHT subsite. I joined it cuz it had info at the time that SRK did not on Street Fighter 4.

But, even if it was the case, what’s the problem? The way I see it, EH, SRK, and CapUnity do pretty much the same thing in the sense that they get info out to the people. SRK covers more ground (Other games), CapUnity is more vocal, and EH is more organized. But from what I’ve seen, all 3 sites more or less have the same amount of info. A character reveal in MvC3 can be found on CapUnity, Eventhubs, Shoryuken, Youtube, Twitter, and Facebook. What determines what place one goes to see it?

But I digress. The bottom line is, if Maj wanted to make drama out of this, he could have done so after trying to negotiate something or telling anyone involved in any way other than this. It was not called for in the slightest. Why? Does the fact that any of us knows what supposedly goes on in EH make any real difference to Maj or Eventhubs financially? Perhaps for a few weeks, but eventually things simmer down and the people will go to whatever website they went to for whatever reason.

More hits for EH, turning that negative into a positive!

BRB making website with quote tags from both SH and EH for convenience.

EDIT - After actually reading catalyst’s post on EH, I’m impressed.

Really love the tone of the post, the whole 'rally up, Maj is bad, but if ANYthing is wrong at all guys…seriously it’s me, but OKAY go ahead and ask I guess…heh."

^ To find what is wrong with your argument, look at Chindogg’s efforts at negotiation for more info…

Edit iplaywinner will be doing a podcast with catalyst. I’m looking forward to hearing about the other side of the issue in a professional manner that doesn’t involve trolling before I come to my own decisions here. Srk trolls too much to even have any kind of useful discussion here when these are probably the kind of things you should not troll about considering noone is making real money off content creation. Noone.

This means streams, combo videos…recording match vids and the like…etc etc. Noone made money off it when we were a niche community but it’s obvious that everyone is trying to make a few bucks from it now. Maybe srk is making money now but it’s obvious they were a loss leader for a long time.

Either way I like the fact that other sites popped up (because it is impossible for Srk to do everything well. I’m really grateful that other sites exist to fill a niche. It means our. Community is growing. Also if it were not for sites like versuscity, eventhubs ipw, or even shadowloo etc etc srk would not have incentive to step their game up which is what they have been doing recently…now that everyone is trying to generate front page traffic $$$ I hope this can be resolved soon.

I am Legacy Virus and I am one of the members found in their forums… I also have an SRK account (i made this account months ago, not just to “troll” or for this response)… anyways as someone who has been using EventHubs for sometime I cant comment on the “stolen” videos which i think is silly… I will comment on the “EH steals ALL their info”… now this is 100% false… here is a list of things EventHubs has done/is doing that other sites didnt/havent offered…

  1. Central Character Percentage Numbers… Central Character Usage Percentage this was made up by a LOT of EventHub forums users… showing who is the most used characters in ranked matches…

  2. On site signature/banner creators… Do You Need A Sig? COME HERE! & Finished Sigs/Banners posted HERE… we are VERY friendly and helpful at the EH forums… I am the main one who makes each EH forum member signatures… nothing major for the SF community as a whole but for dome “random” dude on EH to offer to make everyone signatures is a nice thing… I take time out of my day/life for others to have a good looking signature… and no, I am not being paid to make sigs nor am I “stealing” someone else’s sig and calling it my own…

  3. Character Overseers… Cental Character Forums we have overseers for each character… we can do this because we are a bit smaller then SRK… and I can assure you that ALL guides written are original unless stated other wise by the overseer…

  4. Match Up Advance… Need help with a match up??? this is a list of EH members who master certain characters… if you need help with your character vs a certain match up, this is the thread for you at EH… I made this thread VERY easy to use and understand… pick a character that gives you trouble, contact someone under that character and they will be more then happy to help you… this sure beats looking up a ton of text to find a match up, let alone info that is actually useful…

anyways that is 4 things that EventHubs offer others… I didnt come here to bash anyone or to bash SRK or SH… I just think EventHubs is misunderstood… give us a try… you never know, you just might like us!!!

I disagree completely. If anything, this could come down to common courtesy. Some folks on one side are like “If you put it out there, then I’m gonna post it on my site” and the other side is like “Dude, just fucking ASK before you do some shit like that”. From everything that I’ve read, Eventhubs doesn’t really ask for shit. Haunts, who runs iplaywinner and is a friend of mine, got pissed that one of his guides was basically x-copied onto eventhubs without his permission. I don’t care how you look at it, if you’re pullin’ in money from something you didn’t put any work into, and you didn’t even have the foresight to ask permission for it, then you’re a fucking asshole. Bottom line.

If anything, this conversation is about the eventhubs people taking things they didn’t create without permission. Leave the money out of it for a second. They’re not going “Hey man, this is some good shit you wrote right here. Mind if I put it on my site too?” Maj doesn’t need to give permission to the SRK people because they know the deal. A lot of people forget that before this site, SRK was just a bunch of gamers who played each other and shared info over the internet. The people who run evo consist of some of those people. Players who broke down how the engines in the old games worked were part of that group. They pulled together before money could even be made simply to share info. It was give and take.

Eventhubs wasn’t around for that. They weren’t around for the 10 years where we didn’t have any new fucking games. Maj put his shit together for the community to learn something and some one that hasn’t been around in the community is making money off that and didn’t even ask permission. SO yeah, that’s a dick move. You guys can add whatever spin to this you want, but without folks like Maj, eventhubs wouldn’t have shit to post. The least that can happen is the eventhubs guy going “Hey man, mind if I post this?”

There’s also all the custom articles posted on the guide areas as well.

It looks like people only read the front page.

All the stuff you’ve mentioned here SRK has done before, and better, than event hubs. I appreciate you trying to come over here and defend a forum and website you like, but none of what you wrote is at all compelling in the overall scheme of things.

You guys do seem a bit friendlier though. Mother fuckers on SRK LOVE to tell some one they’re wrong about match ups. Theory fighter is a bitch here.

Glad to get a respectable response from you… as I stated I think EventHubs was misunderstood…

I am kinda on both sides on this one. I mean if I was Maj I would be mad too, I like his videos and he does put a lot of work into them. I would be mad if a lot of those views don’t benefit but another site.

However, in my opinion I feel like he is overreacting. I mean this could all have been avoided if he contacted the head of EH and told him to stop posting his videos. I am sure he would gladly respect what he has to say and stop posting the videos. The fact that he brings this up now and is making this big of a deal is kinda weird.

So yeah I guess I am on both sides just me though.

This wouldn’t have happened if SEGA released Final Showdown for consoles.

@RoninChaos

I see your point on everything, altho I believe that longevity shouldn’t have anything to do with this. But still, if one were to look at it and assume that the info was for everyone and created a site with a similar purpose of expanding the overall knowledge of the info, wouldn’t one think to include the info there? It wouldn’t be about making money off of said work, but spreading it out to other people. Say, if I find a youtube video that I really like and think others would enjoy, I spread word of it. Only thing is, money IS involved. If Eventhubs was doing the EXACT same thing they were now but not getting paid for it, would it be so much of a problem?

I think that’s what happened here. Cat saw something nice that he wanted to spread word of and therefor more people began to see it. Only problem is, the more people that open the site, the more cash he gets, regardless of if its for Maj’s videos or someone went there via getting lucky on google.

Edit- Don’t get me wrong. Maj has perfect reason to be pissed. Im just saying there’s most likely a misunderstanding here. I’m fairly certain no one wanted to scheme anyone, and everyone involved just wanted to evolve the fighting game scene, whether it be analyzing data or posting it.

But now that we know the problems on both sides, a solution should be forthcoming and soon in a reasonable manner.

Yeah

As Maj pointed out on Sonic Hurricane, you’ve taken from SRK yourself without citing

http://shoryuken.com/f315/ssf4-throw-range-tier-241927/

That was for my own personal benefit because I was tired of getting teleport-thrown by a Rose player with my Bison/Fei Long.

The throw range table you see on Eventhubs was compiled from frame data and hitbox videos by no one other than Catalyst yesterday and he did it all by himself over a span of 12 hours.
