I highly suggest you read up on Maj and his work. When you were a gleam in your dad’s eye he was making combo videos. After a little more information as to the work and effort he puts into these videos and to what kind of person he is you may finally understand why a guy who’s given so much is upset that someone else is using his work without permission or any attempt to ask for permission to make a profit for themselves.

Also, I know full well of Maj’s work. The ode to 2 hit combo, MvC2 combo vids, Footsie handbook, the whole nine. That does NOT mean I approve of any of whats going on or what he’s doing.

what i don’t think you realize (im guessing you have a join date sometime after 08?) is that most people here have posted on this site for close to a decade, know each other in real life, and are friends who go way back. that’s because most people here started out competing together at their local arcades and coming here to improve their game.
yes, i know mind boggling. this is not just an online community its far more tight knit than that. so a lot of people are understandably pissed.
the bigger issue is that stuff was linked/embedded without asking permission/giving recognition which is a dick move. this has been addressed in various posts. some was apparently stolen, but not sure how much of that is true. still reserving judgement until i see how eventhubs responds/resolves the issue.
Yeah to be fair I don’t really fault Eventhubs for the idea, they really did light a fire under peoples asses and made them actually give a damn about the front page. I think it’s a bit in the execution that it falters, in that it’s easier to throw news up quickly and make a few mistakes here and there with crediting people. Or to post full articles instead of a summary and a snippet with a link to the source for full viewing (like SRK does).
Since content creaters use Youtube to stream due to its convenience, it leaves them with no way to make money outside of partnership which won’t happen. It’s kind of a catch 22, and if people can find a way to replace youtube with something economical (hosting videos on your own webspace to stream can get really pricey) then it would be a step in the right direction. It didn’t matter before because everyone in the community did it for the love, but now that it’s profitable money has stepped in and changed things, for better or for worse. Like Maj said, EventHubs profited 5x as much from his video as he did, and that model isn’t going to be sustainable moving forward.
And it’s also worth noting that, as stated, this is more Personal in that a lot of us have been around for awhile. Maj literally opened my eyes to the whole video scene back in CvS2, when I would download his AirThrow exhibition videos then watch it in astonishment. This is a person whom most people who do videos are influenced by, so for him to be so bothered by the current state of affairs is a big deal
I read the whole thread. I gave examples and proof when asked of when EH stole material. You even responded to it, then blew it off as if it was nothing only to give some bullshit on how Maj doesn’t have any right to complain because he didn’t actively seek out EH and compromise. That’s not on Maj, that’s on EH to ask permission. That’s the point of this argument. Cat doesn’t ask permission or cite properly (if at all) and yet he’s making up to $2000 a month in ad revenue just on the frontpage alone. That’s not right, period. The fact that you’re trying to argue your “two cents” every time someone proves your wrong just clearly shows that you have no idea what the problem is about nor the consequences of such actions.
In short, you’re clearly wrong. Have been proven wrong several times and despite every effort to get you to see that you still persist with your absurdly flawed argument. You might not actually be 17 but you argue like one.

I asked them to stop and got a ban for my trouble. My point is that your argument is flawed. Even if Maj asked its pretty clear that EH is basically telling people to fuck off when they complain about stealing their work.
I’m saying the same thing too but he’s entitled to do that or try without his content being taking but after reading more posts in this thread EH is looking kind suspect.

That shits easily google accessible. Knowing Maj’s work and respecting what he’s done for the community (as well as playing with him) has affected many of the users here.
I doubt that. Either way, you’re still a noob around here, just like me (at least I’m an 09er lol). I may not have learned everything there is to know about SRK in my time here, and I can almost guarantee that I have been playing SF games as long as a lot of the older folks here (my first match was Blanka vs Dhalsim in WW). But I damn well know that I am still learning about the various interactions and cliques on SRK, and you need to pay attention to that too. You gotta realize that some people here go WAAAAAAY back. And to them, your opinion is useless. Not right or wrong, just a waste of time.

At first I thought it had to do with my (supposed) knowledge about SF. Later I realized it’s more about the fact that there’s been so much craziness in these threads over the years, and characters (ie- Dr B), that you really need at least a year, just to flesh things out.
how about we ALL just fight it out like we do in SF… except we can do it face to face… no pads, no sticks, just fist… would that make everyone that is “pissed” happy??? seeing how SRK is SO tightly knit, I say i dont like talking so just take it to the fist… makes life easier… :wgrin:
