I know this has been asked already, but I’m coming up with too many different answers for me to feel confident in choosing one.
This a 2008 model #4716 that I recently picked up. I’ve seen instructions that use 1 resistor, 2 resistor, and a few other designs.
Can anyone tell me what I need to do to the triggers to make them behave as buttons? It’s not that I’m dumb, it’s that there’s a little too much information that doesn’t seem to be very specific.
Easiest way is with a multimeter. One of the pads on the side (not the pad in the middle) should show damn low (like 1 ohm area) resistance between the pad and the metal shield on the USB end.
Hey, I just bought the Madcatz retro stick. Would I need to do this to use all 8 of the buttons? I’m having my sister’s boyfriend do it so I need to get him instructions on all of it. I plan on dualmodding it with my T5 stick. And does anyone know if the T5 pcb is grounded? Thanks.
Toodles = a god. I just implemented your IC flawlessly. The innards of my first box are complete! Now the stupid buttons/stick need to get here so i can put it all together! Bwahahah! I’ll add some pics of the fully functioning board in a bit =D Maybe even a fraps of the awesome z axis working correctly.
Since I’ve never modded a MadCatz controller before, and have never seen a common ground controller, I have few small problems that I’m hoping someone could help me with…
I’m a tad confused by which pads are the the High / Wiper / Low for the L and R triggers.
Let’s say I’m looking at the back side of the PCB, with the L/R Trigger POTs at the bottom, (L-Trigger POT on the lower right side and R-Trigger POT on the lower left)… Which pad on each POT is the High?
Again, let’s say I’m loking at the back side of the PCB in the same way as described above… I trashed the pad for the left trigger… The pad farthest to the right side of the PCB.
Is there an alternate solder point I can use for the pad I accidentally pulled off the PCB??
Since it’s common ground… which ground on the PCB would be best to use for ALL of the buttons?
Noob here. I’m going to hack a Mad Catz pad and don’t want or need to use the triggers. I have removed all the plastic (triggers and their screwed-down mounts) and only the circular rotating bits remain - I assume these are the pots?
Anyway, I’ve read in this thread that if I don’t want to use the triggers I can just set the pots to ‘off’ position but my question is, how do I know I’ve done this? Should they be set to a certain angle?
Good luck getting them to stay dead center. Your best bet is to use resistors.
Also… I recently used the same pcb that zombie posted and all I had to do was use (1) 10k ohm resistor for each trigger. I didnt need to use 2 resistors and a transistor.
I hacked the triggers using Hex inverters and buncha 4.7k resisters. It’s been working great in my latest T5 Hori Dual PCB box with a PSX digital pad, all 8 buttons connected.
Can someone confirm that the steps outlined in this thread need to be done to a Madcatz 4726 pad.
I’m assuming that the 4726 pads are just like the 4716 pad except for the autofire function. So I’m going to get the necessary resistors and invertor anyway when I pop into Maplins in the morning.
Hello again everyone. Ive wired up both my triggers and thought they were both working perfectly. Now that I have come to play the game it appears that they are both firing as LT. They are both wired up at opposite ends of the PCP using the NPN transistor method and going to seperate buttons yet they both fire as LT. Anyone heard of or encounterd this? Also can anyone help with a resolution to this?
yeah, made sure of that straight away. On the Xbox menu as well, both of them make the menu move down rather than 1 up 1 down if you know what I mean. They are def both doing the same thing.
I don’t mean to de-rail the thread, but I’m having an issue with my fight stick as well…
Plug it in, I turn on the Xbox with the Stick, but the ring around the Xbox-button will just slowly flash green. I have tried changing the quick-connect cable at the end, but that doesn’t work. I have another wired controller and it’s recognize within a couple of seconds.
Any ideas? I have absolutely no experience with Fight Sticks and I got this one yesterday.
Happen to have pics? Sounds like a short somewhere or something not wired right in general, but it’ll be easier to troubleshoot if we can see it.
I’m sure you’ve probably either figured it out by now or given up, but just plug the controller in and fiddle with them until you see which way is pressed and which is unpressed. They should turn quite a bit beyond unpressed, and a little hot glue or super glue goes a long way.
