Also, I don’t hate Pete, I think he’s one of the most interesting characters on the show. I love how Vincent Kartheiser plays him. However, there are times I want to punch him in the throat, or more aptly, see Lane punk the shit out of him.
That’s cause this bitch was thirsty and practically had to beg and mind fuck him to come inside. Not to mention he shags hookers like a bitch.

Though I will echo Matt Zoller Seitz’s observation that it has been a long time since they did anything meaningful with Dawn, and this doesn’t seem like the type of show to indulge in tokenism…
Which is why he eternally fails. He has a devoted wife who’s cute as a button and a healthy baby (who hopefully doesn’t inherit Pete’s weaksauce genes). She even forgave him for getting it on with the Germain au pair, doesn’t even hang it over his head or use it as a guilt tool to manipulate him. She’s like the perfect wife in every way and Pete’s retardo insecurities prevents him for taking pleasure in having Alison Brie ON LOCK!

And I don’t want them to force some crap with Dawn. It was funny how she was hired and then she was just there. Peggy had her racist? moment and now she is just employed.
They’ll probably do something with her in the finale though seeing how the civil rights thing was the theme of the first episode.
IIRC, she did find out, but she acted like nothing happened when Pete braced himself for conflict.
Pete made it pretty clear that he had cheated on her. she was visibly shaken and upset. but got over it and held his hand.

Last night’s episode. Wow. An incredible hour of TV. I just watched it on DVR, fast forwarding the commercials, and the episode still felt very long. Except I wanted it to keep going. Bombs were dropped!

Pete makes me sick inside but at the same time I know of the good things about this man. A good tv show will create characters that you love and hate while a great tv show will give you people that you can relate to or sympathize with. Far more complex emotions.
It really was. Mad Men is MURDERING it this season. It needs all the Emmys. From the way it’s cleverly shot (Joan’s bit VS SCDP’s Jag Big was so nice) to how it is so tightly written and acted. I think Shakespeare would be proud.
Mad Men is a whole other level of storytelling from the rest of television. It’s a masterpiece.

How depressing is it that, of the two SCDP women featured in this ep, Peggy has put more effort and made more progressive steps toward getting what she wants and has less to show for it? I realize that what Joan has done is not at all uncommon for the era, and that women like Peggy simply didn’t get rewarded in accordance to their talents… dizzam, this show’s commitment to honesty is downright upsetting sometimes.
You are just mad that Peggy has been usurped by Jewish Draper.
Joanie is like Lane with tits. She deserves a piece of the pie. It just took a little pete magic to get here there.
If it didn’t mean losing the excellent Vincent Kartheiser, I would suggest that Pete be played by a giant CG douche.
