Mad Men Thread (Season 3 begins 8/16 on AMC)

I barely started to watch this shit, and wow, it’s amazing as fuck! I never thought I’d be interested in it from the previews and commercials I’ve seen.

Hit it, then fire it? lulz

Yeah that Glenn kid is crazy. Watching Sterling getting picked on was unexpected. But unlike Don, he did his job for his company. I suppose he’s just not a brat, I’m sure he will punish someone else to feel better about himself soon enough. Not much else to this show but Peggy development. Surprised Freddie is back, but it fleshes out Peggy some more. I use to be sweet on Peggy, but those few pounds she put on or maybe its the haircut. Give me back the pony tail babe!

Poor secretary though, good woman…but she’s got to go.

eh i don’t see don firing his secretary, if anything she’s gonna make a move on sober don and he’ll softly put her down or she’ll recognize greatness and become his new side piece.

He shows a coldness to anything or anyone that doesn’t tickle his fancy. His obsession with the opposite sex stems more from his mother ignoring him and him probably exposed to sex at an early age. Which is why he wants to collect women’s hair and be “chivalrous” by wrecking a house. I find it more an attention-seeking than empathy.

I miss sweet Peggy too. She’s so insular now, it’s like emulating Don has made her more distant and cold.

BTW, how many episodes until Don bangs the psychologist/ analyst chick? I give it 4.

  • man… I’m so behind on this show and it’s so epic. :frowning: Is the iTunes quality any good?

i think you’re confusing being young and awkward with being cold, dude is supposed to be like 9-12 years old. his character reminds me of a the kid from american beauty for some reason. and as far as the hair thing goes, thats the type of innocently weird thing that a kid would ask for and really served to illustrate how much of a weirdo betty is more than anything else.

Secretary thought she had something there

I’m mostly agreeing with you, I think, I’m just saying the whole thing was about Don. He’s had clients give him shit before- the whole Lee Garner Jr. thing that got Sal fired, not to mention what just happened with the Christmas party this episode. Even smaller clients- I remember he strongarmed that one guy with the line about Jesus, or when Menkin didn’t want to redesign his department store, etc. Or, hell, even when Conrad Hilton was fucking with him. He has never, ever exploded at a client like he did at those two. The ONLY reason it happened was so that Don could blow up at them like that, so you could see the tone of his character change. Had the same clients come in during Season 2, things would have ended completely differently.

It’s fucked up that I was cheering for him during most of the episode.

I was almost afraid that he was gonna corner Roger…

Yo. When he handed her the envelope I literally yelled “NO!!” out loud. That shit was Brutal. Like Paws of Fury. I was hoping they wouldn’t get together, for a few reasons. Shit was clearly doomed.

Don’t all sociopaths start out that way as kids? He’s not taking a hammer to neighborhood animals (as far as we know), but Glen is clearly coming off the rails.

sociopaths are into killing animals, senseless violence, etc… glenn fucked up the house bcuz he’s trying to expedite them to move to make sally feel better.

loved tonight’s episode. the cali shit really humanized don in a good way and it was cool to see the brit get some face tme although i kept expecting it to end horribly.

quick question…for all the fucking that don is doing how isn’t he knocking up broads left and right? they didn’t use rubbers back then right?

Pretty sure they did. They just didn’t use the latex ones.

Sad that the only person that truly knows Don ain’t gonna be around no more. It was cool to see Don and Lane having a good time getting drunk and fucking whores.

LOVED last nights ep. This show constantly astounds me with how truly brilliant the writing is. Its funny to see Lane as this meek character. He played the polar opposite of that on Fringe. I also love how they don’t try and cover every story arc in every episode. Show like True Blood try to do this and it just becomes a convoluted mess. This show deserves every accolade it gets. Truly inspired television…

“…I know everything about you, and I still love you.”

Anna is so awesome. I love the relationship she shares with Dick Whitman. It’s almost like a Naked Snake x Boss relationship, but even more personal. It’s so sad that she has to die like that just for the sake of further evolving Don’s life story.

Lance getting out of his anal-retentive shell was nice to see.

I liked the most recent ep. So far the season has been going for a “shit hits the fan” thing, it’s nice to see less extreme and less soap-opera-ish drama in this ep (the thing with the legit Mrs. Draper not withstanding- I thought that was done well).

I did like Lane in this ep too, I actually was kind of hyped when he shut Joan down. And the thing with the flowers was hilarious.

This sums up the entire show.

Joan in GQ

Enjoy.

That link of paris hilton posing as Marilyn Monroe makes me smh. Especially since Hendricks is ironically a natural shapely blonde and Marilyn is a redhead who dyed her hair blonde. :bluu: Seriously, do they not know that Monroe was as thick as they come?! Having this female Stick Stickly as Marilyn is like Anthony Anderson posing as Denzel.

Last episode was great, only thing wrong was it was no Pete. Peteless episodes always feel empty to me. There is a dark void where the light of petes sun would usually be shining.

lol stop it. pete is such an asshole, it was mad funny when he came at freddy sideways and roger had to play it off by asking freddy to hop in the santa suit.
