So I’m new to this character and liking him a lot. I like all his options and how create his combos are. They look so swag as well… Unfortunately, I’m awful at comboing with him out of the corner.

His combos are pretty much the same fullscreen and in the corner, so I take it that you’re having trouble with the relaunch? If so, you can do j.MHS for the first air series. If you do j.M quickly, followed by j.H, delay, j.S, you’ll only have to land, dash once, cr.M, S, for the relaunch. That’s probably the easiest relaunch.

If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask.

I am either going to play Dok/Storm/Dante or Dok/Strange/Vergil. My combo has been corner carry cr. H iad j.M into a couple reps of j.MMH l.cube then j.S l.cube H f.H l. Bomb l.Cube HPB. But I am like in nothing but the lab til Wednesday so idk how practical it will be. My main confirm is j.S so I’m wondering if I I can l.cube cr.H into the iad reps or something.

Anyway, what was the relaunch you spoke of?

Also, do Vergil and Dok have any synergy?

dok strange vergil sounds like a solid team. don’t know what assist u are using for strange but here is one if u are using eye. probably not optimized but its kinda cool looking.

How many cubes you get is dependent on the distance from the corner due each rep carrying you there. But basically when you’re in the corner, whatever cr. H confirm can lead into jc j.MMH l.cube [j.MMH l.cube] j.S l.cube H f.H l. Balloon Bomb l.cube HPB.

Anyways, what is are his normal BnBs? Is that what Moons uses?

And I changed my mind about the Vergil/Strange thing. I’m going to split my energy and attention between Shuma/Dorm/Strange and Modok/???/Doom. Dorm will probably be the mid there, but I am also considering Magneto, Storm, and Sentinel.

Edit: It’s annoying how different my lab plans and online experiences end up. At least in casuals around town, I can learn SOMETHING no matter what. But I found out no matter what, Vergil is awkward in my hands ironically.

Can f.H or Balloon confirms in the corner lead to raw tag footdive corner combos?

Another question. What property of Vergil and Stinger makes it so he can plink forward with one button? Any way MODOK could exploit something similar since he has a f.H?

Kensanity has the relaunch combo in his notations in his latest post. It lets you corner carry from pretty much any starter and the damage is fairly optimized, so you can just stick to that. Out of the teams you suggested, Dok/Dorm/Doom is the strongest, with Mags/Dok/Doom and Dok/Mags/Doom not too far behind. Dok/Sent/Doom works well too. As for online, give it little weight. Online is really only good for learning other people’s setups, and figuring out ways to deal with team, even if you can’t always execute your plans. If you’re able to get some offline sessions in regularly, I’d recommend just sticking to training mode to learn. And yes, it is possible to do a Doom raw tag after a f.H into hard kick, but it’s practically useless and I know of no consistent way of pulling it off currently. As for your last question, it seems Vergil alone has been given that ability.

So does Modok even have a flowchart or gameplan? What is my goal as Modok?

Generally, you want to zone. You can do some rushdown, but you really want to only do that if you have to or under the cover of an assist. Your main tools in neutral are your assists, L blaster (ground), L and H air blasters, cubes, st.L (anti air), st.M, cr.M, j.L, j.M (generally air to air only), j.S, and flight. Use those to keep the opponent blocking. Bombs and barriers are useful too, but you generally don’t want to be doing them without your opponent in blockstun due to an assist.

The basic relaunch is: starter, cr.H, jump, adf, j.M, land, S, j.MMHS, wave dash twice, cr.M, S, slight delay, j.MMS, cr.M, L blaster, etc. If you want more combo specifics, you can click the link in my signature. Pretty much everything you’d want regarding Dok is there.

I’d say you can get pretty creative with MODOK if your movement is on point but as LTP mentioned. You need an assist to make any of it scary otherwise you’re zoning or trying to setup a trap.

Lately my goal has been to damage my opponent enough to setup at least one cube combo to level MODOK up. Kill them with a HBR DHC to whatever and put the cannon in the middle or back. That and I’m trying to perfect plink ground to air dashing, playing around with applications of Jumping H.

So what’s the most cubes we have in a combo so far? My combo has 4 or 5. Also, I’m toying with Dok/Doom/Ammy. Good well rounded coverage. I think it’s safe to say that I’ll be around these boards for a while. Good to be a part of the few and the proud.

So my casuals partner runs Mags/Zero/Doom. Complete with Hyper Grav to LLs. -_- Is it just me, to is Modok vs Magneto a total bitch of a fight? Mag is too free to move and pluck me out of the air for a death combo. Actually, his whole team seemed to be kind of a bad match up…

Even optimized bnbs for your team! For dok/dorm/doom (love this team even if my dorm sucks)

Starter, launch, relaunch, back dash, crM+dorm assist, qcf+L, f+h, l bomb, f+h, IAD jS, backdash+doom assist, f+h, jump cancel addf S, sj L, missiles hit Air M bomb, qcf+L, addf S, ender.

I really hate this version because I find the missile baby kick timing very hard, but this really optimized

Your friends is straight top tier but if you want to have jokes snap out Magneto for Doom. DOK handles Doom great, zero okay, and magneto so so.
All three are very beatable but you have to know what to look for:

Random shockwaves
Don’t stay on the ground if Magneto has missiles out.
Cube empty tri dash magneto attempts or just jump at him with baby kicks if he’s ABOVE you.
If you can get mags to block frame trap him with dark hole.
If you’re close enough use cube perimeter for ghetto lockdown/prevent Doom from attacking.
Its risky but don’t be afraid to get shield up to protect doom and use diagonal blasters. (shockwave)
Be ready to KI if you’re baited (make zero waste 3 bars)
Your job vs zero is blocking and chipping until he gets way to over confident while killing all doom calls.

Against that team though if you lose DOK, the whole fight will be an uphill battle.

Hello all.
I’m considering becoming a Brodok and I’ve been browsing the modok threads like a muffhugger trying to pick a team.
My favorite characters are without a doubt Dante, Dorm, Magneto but I was thinking of throwing Modok in the loop, meaning that I’d like Modok with 1 or 2 of those 3.
I’ve read a lot about mags, dok, doom and dok, dorm, doom but I’m really trying to stay away from Doom because I don’t really enjoy playing him.
I am also trying to stay away from Sent but Mag (hypergrav) , Dok, Sent or Dok, Mag (hypergrav), Sent looks like it has some pretty cool synergy especially damage wise with all the possible extensions.
Could I have some Dante, Modok, Magnus, Dorm teams? Preferably without doom and with the best TOD synergy (and some neutral of course.)

i don’t play magneto but i know he has solid synergy with modok. you could probably try mag/dok/dorm or hell even dok/dorm/mag. t

Not enough neutral in that. I don’t find dark hole very good for lockdown.

You’re not playing very MODOK extension friendly characters, Sent works I suppose so just Mag/DOK/Sent or Mag/DOK/Dante…want more control? DOK/DORM/DANTE.

Really? Hypergrav is that terrible for extensions?
But really? Dok, Dante, Dorm? Where’s the synergy in that?

Not enough neutral? Dok backed by a beam and a decent lockdown assist is really powerful. You won’t get the hypergrave extender but pretty sure u can still figure out combo extensions.

Additionally for dok dorm Dante don’t know how optimized the dok combos can be but for sure dorm mixups are very good with Dante assist
