sougenmu with jam session can be pretty rough, but its not too scary. I’ve found Zero’s that sit back and use sougenmu with missiles to be much more annoying and harder to hit. Although I think zero with jam session is generally scarier, getting through sougenmu with missiles can really try one’s patience.
That’s the thing he approached with Sougenmu and Jam session, went for hard to blockables etc
I must say I haven’t been impressed in a while but this guy impressed me with his utter calculated cheapness.
I’ll be at ECT5 in just a few short days! It’s going to be my first major, so I’m really hype for it. Right now, there are unfinished pools posted online, and I have Marlinpie and CJShowstopper in my pool, along with 7 other people. There will probably be another killer in the pool come Saturday, but right now, I really like my chances at getting out of pools… if I don’t freeze up. And I do tend to freeze up. Any tournament advice is welcome.

I made into top 32 in losers for tomorrow! I feel like I could’ve made it out in winners, but I’ll take it. I went 4-1, I think. I lost to CJShowstopper 3-1. I made a critical drop on the last game (whiffed the snapback after a jamming bomb), so I’m a little upset about that. It also was my only recorded (offscreen) match that I know of. After that, I beat Marlinpie 3-1 to make it out of pools. Top 32 and onward is all streamed, I think, so I’ll try not to screw it up, but I think I’m dealing with my nerves fairly well… I was able to do full combos, unblockables, HPB into XF confirms (though I did drop the one that really mattered), and the like. My movement is still a little stiff at times, but I’m getting those grounded air dashes to get in well enough.
I’m going to try to get as much info of the players in top 32 tomorrow to prepare for them. CJ told me that I might end up facing KaneBlueRiver, but I’m guessing they’d reseed the brackets. As for tonight, I’m going to be doing a lot of casuals. I’m getting a set with Moons for sure.

LTP got crucified, but he made top 32. Moons got KBR’d. I wonder if he tried starting DOK at all in that matchup? Then again, his DOK isn’t optimized to stop that rush really.
No, Moons stuck with point Nova, from what I saw. And yeah, I got steamrolled on stream. I dropped my confirms, and I played scared in general. I gave Knives too much respect. Looking back on it, I still think I have a good chance at beating him. Perhaps we’ll see in time. I might go to Summer Jam in August, but besides that, I won’t be going to any more tournaments until next year besides my locals when I’m home over the summer.

Its ok, LTP. You made top 32 and I’m sure you’ll overcome the tourney nerves with more experience. Great job repping modok. You have a chance to play moons and get his take on the head? He should atleast consider a side team with MODOK on point when nova won’t work.
Yeah, I got to play Moons in a small set. I forget what the score was, but I lost lol. He is definitely the most patient player I’ve ever faced. We didn’t talk much about MODOK matchup wise though. MODOK mirrors are still hilarious.
And here is my match vs CJ. I choked here soooooo much… I should’ve won it 3-1 instead of the other way around. As you can see in the third game (the one I won, 7 minutes in), when I get a hit, I should win. I should’ve had the 4th game and I should’ve had some confirms in the first. Oh well, I’ll get it next time.
I’m curious, were your setups and the unblock able working fine. Did anybody get out of MODOK’s unblockable grab reset setup?
I got the unblockable air grab reset all but one time, from what I remember. The incoming unblockable is harder to pull off correctly, so I got it about 75% of the time. It at least gave me good followup pressure.

I’ll still try to make some tourneys close by. Time and distance is more of an issue than money for me (though college is taking all my money). I’ll probably end up going to Summer Jam, since Philly is just an hour away, but I think that’s it for the rest of the year for me. Thanks though lol.
I’ve been trying to decide if I should keep practicing my team for Evo or if I should make a the switch to no longer running point MODOK. I feel like I have been hitting the limits of his point viability lately, and have really been thinking Dok might be the most valuable in second spot. Been highly considering Mag/Dok/Missiles at least for after Evo.
I do like MODOK best as a point character, but I do think there are very few teams that optimize MODOK in that position. If you’re going to run Dok second, Magneto/MODOK/Doom is probably the strongest team. I would main it if my Magneto wasn’t trash and I wasn’t spoiled by MODOK’s start of round flight. Incoming shenanigans with Hyper Grav are really easy and tricky too. Play what you are comfortable with, but I’d give Mags/Dok/Doom a bit of lab time. That team is really fun to mess around with.

question about the combo at 7:15 Are you calling the doom missiles at the same time as you press S for the relaunch? also, after you put down the L analyze cube, is the L bomb necessary, or can you just back dash, wait for missiles to hit and go f+H, jamming bomb?
