Oh wow my bad, the guy happens to be a Hakan player that generally sticks to wierd ass characters like that. Lol, nick was Nos somethin, no sweat. Only difference is I don’t think he has execution like in your vids, I just thought he stepped his shit up hahaha
So does this work midscreen?
And who are the giants/robots? Sent, Tron, Hulk, Haggar, Thor, Modok?
I’m now trying these out with my team Hulk/MODOK/Sent. Thanks for the great find.
EDIT
What are the exact inputs that you do for Flight~M cube? I can’t seem to do the two fast enough…
I’m doing one motion for both moves, so it’s like:
(facing right)
Air
:qcb:
:s:~:m:
If Modok’s chair flame turns blue while you hit with the cube, you’re good.
I’m having troubles stringing together the bit after flight mode air-M: M-Cube air-M air-H
The M-H part seems really tricky.
Thanks for sharing this everyone Nos, the video is really helpful and the last combo was inspiring
M.O.D.O.K. (Balloon Bomb) / Iron Man (Repulsor Blast) / Doctor Doom (Hidden Missiles). So good.
This definitely does NOT work midscreen…
Also, giants/robots are sent/hulk/tron… Not sure about modok? I haven’t tried it against him yet. This sucks too because sent and tron are really popular.
I don’t understand how larger characters drop out of that combo. What is it in the combo that causes the drop?
It’s not that they drop too fast, it’s that they’re too godamn BIG!
You’ll notice that I always want them to land on an already existing cube, as this gives me more time to link afterward… But these characters are so fat that I have a hard time doing that.
That said, it may very well be possible, I only figured this out a couple days ago… So we may be able to work something out yet.
EDIT: I think I’ve figured it out! lol
The stuff I mentioned above, about them falling on cubes to make it easier to hit them afterward, made me realize that “hrmm… It’s actually not that hard to hit them after the M-Cube even if I don’t do it meaty…”
So then I tried H-Cube… and now I think the different strength cubes actually do different amounts of hitstun! It’s actually quite easy to hit them after a point blank H-Cube, but it’s tough to hit them after a point blank L-Cube.
I haven’t had a chance to mess about with it, but if this is so, there will definitely be 9-cubes exchange combos against every character. I’d bet on it. By taking advantage of this, it might also be easier too, making the combos in the vid obsolete? Who knows.
2ND EDIT: Ok, so I can get 9 cubes against Tron/Hulk/Sent now… H-Cube is the key!
Still haven’t tried vs Modok, heh.
I did it NOS99. You are the man. I dubbed it the “The Anal-Nos Loop”. My rush down was pretty good, now this corner loop with Sent is the shyt. Team Sent - Mo - Akuma -Working on doing it with Sent now. H-cube it is. LETS GO!!!
I figured H-cubes would go “off-screen” to the right of the opponent. How does that work?
^ Going from memory here… but against Sent I think you can do:
Down exchange,
air M
air M
H-Cube
air M
H-Cube
air M
Fly~H-cube
air M
H-Cube
air M
H-Cube
air M
H-Cube
air M
H-Cube
M-Cube
L-Cube
air L
air S (spike)
OTG c.M into whatever
Do everything as fast as possible. lol
Are these combos practical in real matches, I have found it very difficult pulling these off is there any special spacing?
Also, how are you finding these combos out
Great job Nos99!
Air H cubes go directly above MODOK
Medium directly in front
L Directly below
Just to add a little bit, MODOK does have potential for midscreen Cube combos. I been messing around with Exchange, Instantly down forward air dash into flight mode
cubes. So far I’ve only been able to get 5 and a floating bomb…but i’m gonna keep working on it
Great work by the way guys. I’ve been repping MODOK hard out here on the WC
I really like Modok, I have completed his missions, do you think he can work with Chris? Chris landmine can cover infront and you can do a balloon bomb to have a full-face cover, or combination punch assist, it gives a hard knockdown to get a OTG with his slime, and is Modok meter relient? Chris can build alot meter.
I think they’re totally do-able. They’re actually not that hard once you get the hang of it.
I’m just making it up as I go along, lol. Which is why I’m hoping you guys can help me out, to refine these combos into maybe something better!
All of these combos are practical in real matches. Furthermore, against most characters you can do truncated/easy versions of them because even a midlength combo with ~7 cubes will kill more than half the cast if your pre-exchange combo did about 400k (which is pretty easy to achieve).
What this means is that if we can find a reliable midscreen version (so we can do this off the side exchanges) that gets about 7 cubes total then we’ll have guaranteed kills on any AEX against almost anyone in the game.
Right now I’m using Amaterasu and Tron because off basically any hit they can take the opponent all the way to the corner for an easy cube setup. I think Amat is a no-brainer for teaming with MODOK due to the length of her assist (you can cube 3 time during it) as well as the ease of pushing someone to a corner while building solid damage/meter(headbutt to forward heavy series, cancel into paper swipe, repeat, launch, basic air combo, ground bounce, relaunch, AEX). Amat is also very good for spamming the excess meter you will get by using Modok for your damage since he results in tons of net meter with each kill combo.
Tron can take anyone to the corner from anywhere on the screen as well, and she has a great assist that makes landing the first hit extremely simple. Her assist also makes it extremely easy for MODOK to land extra cubes off an OTG (for example, throw, 2M, (call Tron), L Cube, (Tron Hits) => they are in a freefall state, up one cube, and you can do anything you want, even super if you already have cubes. This basically lets you do cube combos and instead of finishing with 2M, L Beam, Super, you can tack on 1 extra cube, even if they have 40 hits on them already! This is pretty awesome and stuff like this will be important in figuring out how to make side exchange work for insta-killing people.
You can also DHC glitch easily with Tron/Amat/Modok if you’re into that sort of thing.
Yeah, while it may not be possible to get all 9 off a midscreen exchange, if we can manage to get enough to kill, that’s all that matters right? Plus we may be able to pick up a few straggler cubes on the ground with some assists like you said…
This would make modok quite the scary 2nd character I think… Especially since getting your exchange countered only results in a hilariously small loss of 50k health. So, kill a character, or lose 50k… That’s a coin toss I don’t mind doing, lol.
Let’s see if we can get Modok on the front page again. :badboy:
I’m working pretty hard on some additional combos. The main thing is getting as many in early in the combo as possible because it becomes significantly harder to link a bunch of cubes together later. My current combo seems to work when relatively near the corner and can generate 8 cubes, but you can reliably only get 7 if you want to combo into the super. If I can figure out how to go from an AEX into a ground string it should be possible to do all sorts of crazyness - you can easily get 3 or 4 cubes from the air on a side exchange without any real trickery, so if there was a way to get MODOK close to the ground before starting the fly-mode cube loops he could then land and call assist to continue the combo.
I’m trying to figure things out while using strong assists/point character (Amat, Tron) since while finding all these things with Captain America is neat and helpful for getting there it doesn’t really do much to contribute to a playable team. MODOK has solid enough assist options that I think he could be relatively viable if his crazy combos will work on a standard team and not something built entirely around him.
