FANTASTIC thread idea exceed. its unfortunate that weâre all trying to make as much use of this as possible this late in the game considering bison has a lot of potential for frame traps other than the standard scissor kick loop, which is SORT OF a frame trap. to me itâs just putting bison in a great position for pressure especially against characters without three frame moves (few).
anyways I came across something VERY interesting. cr.lk xx scissors is a THREE hit combo keerect? Well in this video, our friend Tsukiji TRADES a close st. Fierce against Rufus and then does cr.lk xx scissorsâŚwhat really caught my eye was that it registered as a 4 HIT combo. I had to rewatch it over and over again just to make sure my eyes werenât deceiving me but unless scissor kicks magically use bisonâs third leg to get an extra hit, trade close st.fierce can be comboed off ofâŚi donât know if this is MOVE specific, like dependent on what button your st.close fierce trades off of - or if itâs character dependent, i.e. against Rufus or large characters in generalâŚbut either way itâs very very interesting that bison could actually be able to get a bit of damage off of a trade. itâs no trade TU, f roundhouse, Ultra, but itâs SOMETHING and it gets you that knockdown.
check it out yâall, start paying attention around 15 seconds in.

youâll notice there is no counter hit here, just a trade pure and simple, and Iâm assuming it was off of rufus crouch tech OS which puts out his cr.lp, his fastest crouching normal. both rufusâ cr.lp and bisonâs st.fierce is +4 on hitâŚBUTâŚthat should mean they were totally neutral if they traded perfectlyâŚim not sure how trades work in this game, how hit stun gets divvied out and what is possible universally off of trades, but i suppose the only way this is possible off fo a frame fluke is if st.fierce traded during itâs last active frameâŚactually i dunno im kinda talking out of my assâŚi guess the point is that how the hell is bison going to maintain enough frame advantage to combo into a cr.short if he is in hit stun? itâd have to be like 1 frame hit stun for this to be possible i suppose. itâs just weird and im no good with frame math. im really hoping that this is a special property of st.close fierce. it might just be a frame fluke, a weird âglitchâ of sorts wtih st.close fierce, totally specific to rufus or rufusâ crouch tech OS, or whateverâŚbut itâs still very intriguing and deserves to be researched in the lab.
maybe some frame warriors can put together some hypothesis on how this should work. it seems like it will be difficult to test out but im going to try it tonight, just record dictator doing cr.lp, st.fierce, cr.lk xx scissors against rufus and then try and mash crouch tech after blocking bisonâs cr.lp and see what happens. will do the same with other characters and try and see whatâs up but im feeling lazy so someone feel free to beat me to the punch.
this is nothing game breaking but itâs still kind of excting to have potentially uncovered something new with dictator this late in the game!
dont know if any1 answered this but its obvious why it happened, the trade stoped the full animation of the hp so it finished earlier to get the s. lk link
A simple trap is lk,lk,lk,lk dash hk (they expect a throw) But really the ideas and traps are limitless, reactions and thinking on the spot are your best attacks lol
probably already posted but Dogura uses this one alot!
FADC from scissors>c.lp>c.lp>s.mk>lp pc see what opponent does> whiff close s.mk>c.mk>scissors
Not a frame trap but if they donât tech do the cross up PC after c.mk!

OP is one of the most helpful explanations of frame traps Iâve ever read, both in a general sense and as far as specific explanations of Bisonâs frame traps. Â Well done.

Is the list from the op up to date?
Bisonâs frame data hasnât changed since vanilla, so yes.
Gone back to playing Bison in preparation for Ultra and might I just say that landing the cl.hp frame trap into a fat combo makes you feel like a boss. Doing this one set up single handed put me back in the game on many an occasion today.
Anyone using close MP as a frame trap lately ?
Pretty successful with dash up > close MP (CH) > st.LK > st.LK > far MP > HK SK
It scores 300 damage with the HK SK âŚ

Thatâs one move that I havenât really ever use that much. Maybe I will play around with it.
