M.Bison General Thread: Come here prepared to fight a madman, and instead you will find a GOD!

That’s almost identical to his Psycho Cannon from SF EX, except the other one is chargeable (with a large hit box during charge). But yes, that’s the general idea I would be up for, a projectile that isn’t about zoning out an opponent as much as a set up to rush them down and trap them.

That’s basically it. As long as he doesn’t become a zoning character, then it’s all good. Give him all the projectiles in the world then. The second he starts zoning? Ya done fucked up. Bison does not zone. He dances and kicks. A lot.

Given how Shadaloo seemed to have access to the latest and best technology in SF, it wouldn’t surprise me if something like the Tanden engine or FSE were almost miniature Psycho drives. Who knows, The only people carrying said equipment are those seth cones (which are under bison’s control) and Juri. Juri still has yet to reveal her full power and the dolls seem to be replacing the shadaloo dolls.

As for Possession of Ryu’s body…Does he still care? That surely can’t be his plan still? I’m sure his scientists can whip up another body that’s on par or better then ryu’s. Who knows though.

This could explain why Bison showed interest in Juri’s eye in his ending. Seth took the Tanden Engine (a product of Shadaloo/Bison) and miniaturized it further, small enough to fit into an eye socket yet still supremely powerful. These engines definitely have similar properties to the old Psycho Drive, but I doubt they are nearly as powerful otherwise Bison would make the Seth clones his permanent residency instead of cloning his own body over and over again.

I believe Bison still cares for Ryu’s body. It is implied in his SF4 prologue when Bison says “It’s only a matter of time before I make his body my permanent home anyway” - This can only be referring to Ryu.

But you’re right, I think eventually those scientists will create a body as strong or stronger than Ryu’s, this is also implied in his SF4 prologue when the lead scientist tells Bison that this next body would be able to handle the full extent of his Psycho Power before being dismissed by Bison.

Might be. But it’s Bison, his ego is so big that it could be a whole new planet. Plus didn’t Bison specifically make the clones as “backup”. I thought he originally wanted to inherit a seth clone body. But didn’t bother at the time since he wanted to snuff out seth.

Psycho Power deteriorates the body of the user over time, the more psycho power the user wields the faster the deterioration. So the Host Clone Bodies (Seth et al) are back up in that sense, if his biological body is destroyed or compromised (for any reason), his consciousness needs to inhabit another body while his scientists make him a body suitable for him. The Host Clone Bodies were never meant to be permanent (otherwise he would’e been in one in SF4), only transitionary. There is no reason to believe they can handle the full extent of Bison’s psycho power as well.

The Host Clones were allowed enough free will and awareness to perform basic functions (such as obedience), Seth was exceptional in that sense - like Pinocchio - and was allowed to run S.I.N. until he crossed a line (this is implied in his SSF4 prologue to be his attack on the secret Shadaloo Dolls facility).

Oh Bison…just can’t keep it all wrapped up can you?

Why are they keeping the ugly 'roid look for SFV? Bison looks far better in a slimmer version; SFII and CVS2 spring to mind.

Well if Ryu and Chun Li are anything to go by, he’ll have better proportions this time around. The teaser we saw is quite probably from an earlier version of the model and isn’t necessarily indicative of what’s coming.

The teaser didn’t really give us anything to go by in terms of his new design. He could just end up looking drastically different compared to SF4 because it fits into the story they’re going for. I wouldn’t mind if he looked more… undead… yet… eternalized. Definitely slimmer, but not quite emaciated.

Bring back old Bison, without the cape like he was in Street Fighter 4.

As design he’s supposed to be slighty bigger/bulkier than characters like Ryu and even slighty bigger ones like Guile/Charlie
He’s the prototype of the boss that can overpower anybody except giants, and fuck up giants easy being fast/technical/crazy

Charlie himself got a good a good amount of roids for SFV, i doubt Bison will be smaller than him

Btw judging the silhuette of the teaser sure as fuck he is’nt SFA style big, seem more a middle way a la SF4

The new line of the costume imho give good dynamism

Agreed. I think we’re getting something closer to this more than anything.

Still smaller than Alpha, but bigger than CvS. I didn’t like his proportions in SF4, I thought he looked… uncomfortable. I didn’t like his face either, something off about his eyes/nose/mid-face. Then again, Rarely did SF4 translate the faces properly , especially in the original SF4. The models looked better in the upgrades.

Personally i liked this artwork of Bison, kinda sharp and sinister compared to his usual big jaw smile paresis

Wich will work with a kinda slimmer design, maybe just a lil bit heavier than current Charlie

Also i liked his incarnation on the great SF2 anime movie, great presence, but tbh it will be too huge to work well in a videogame, to keep cast proportions all true heavyweights will be moved up to Hugo style size lol

I prefer him sinister looking like in the SF2 anime as well, even when he smiled there it was scary more so than it was “cliche villain”. In SF4, he was closer to the SF2 American animated series (in-game I mean), cartoony, a bit maniacal, bordered on being a parody of himself. He was saved by the Japanese VA.

The photo you posted along with these I feel capture this quality best.

The same is true for Akuma btw, he was a god damn parody in SF4. SF5 seems a bit more gritty and serious looking than SF4, just a bit.

He should fight with his cape.
He shouldn’t have his projectile.
He should have various more versatile combos.
He shouldn’t always grin.

Psycho cannon is amazing.

Nice!

The trenchcoat-esque design seems like a really neat idea! I at least like it more than having a massive flowy cape behind him. Also +1 for not wanting him to have a projectile. Dunno why, but it seems to fit him better to not have that and instead have various mobility options and ways to get around fireballs.
