M.Bison General Thread: Come here prepared to fight a madman, and instead you will find a GOD!

But why would they give him a Psycho Geyser(?) special when functionally it is identical to Psycho Fist? A melee range explosion of psycho energy that knocks you off your feet and/or situationally put you in a juggle state.

I’m leaning towards it being possible a modern interpretation of Alpha3 c.fierce which also had a huge gush of psycho energy since this version of Bison seems already inspired a lot by that Bison. Or a new command normal. If it’s a new move it seems quite redundant.

Wow! Awesome! Bison is my main, so super happy with how insanely awesome he looks! This new moveset surely makes him top tier. Checklist:

  • OTG Head Stomp! Wow! And a follow up with a teleport ex-stomp! Cray!

  • EX Scissor Kick has extra kicks! Crazy!

  • Teleport finally looks like it’s competitive!

  • Grab looks cool after the teleport. Like the psycho power theme going on, haha.

  • Follow up hit after slide is awesome! Finally!!

  • Um, Demon Reverse? I didn’t spot it…?

  • Normal Psycho Crusher would like to see soon. Wondering how it looks like in this game.

  • Psycho Parry just looks awesome when it parrys Charlie’s boom! Feels like a replacement for the Psycho Vanish from CVS2, especially if the input is DP+P then it definitely is.

  • That Pyscho Burst he does in some of the combos looks insane and a great punisher or counter move too.

  • His normals, like that crouching uppercut and the standing (I think) heavy punch have psycho power brimming off them, which is cool.

  • Love how he’s aged and the new long coat outfit is very cool.

EDIT: His character model from those IGN stills has improved much from SF4, for sure, but he still seems too close to the SF4 look. I’d prefer if they move away from that an lean his face and body up a bit.

  • Oh! And that Super Psycho Crusher is dope! Alpha 3 style but more awesome. Love how the start up is a psycho burst.

Again, OTG Stomp! WTF!!! Man, so crazy cool! Bison is how he should be again – SCARY AS HELL!!!

The only thing I can say is. Charlie got ze owned. He’ll have to pick up his glasses off the fall after that one. I wonder who the next character reveal will be. I’m surprised Ken or eve akuma hasn’t been announced yet.

Well, if Vega (Claw) isn’t in the game, I know who I’m playing.

As the game gets brighter and more saturated as these alpha builds update it’s looking more like 4 or SFxT. I really want a departure from that game, big time.

The art style is similar to SF4, but this game is many degrees better. The attention to detail in SF5 far exceeds SF4, I don’t see how anyone can not think of this as a departure. The jump is as big as SF2 > SF3 IMO.

Anyway, what is this?

This swipe wasn’t in the trailer. The closest move to it is Bison’s standing fierce (?) at 49 seconds.

Also does anyone know what Bison says during his ultra?

Might be a combo hit into some other Ultra attack. The Psycho Power Pimp Slap.

As for the style, it’s not so much the art style, but the color style or whatever. I dunno, as much as I didn’t like the more Tekken look to the original alpha, I’m not really digging this increase-the-slider-saturation going on. SF4 and SFxT were pretty saturated in their color tones, and while SF has always been a bright type of game, in 3D it can be an eye sore after a while. Maybe it’s the shading or lighting or something. MvC3 was still bright and colorful but managed to do it in a way that wasn’t that weird SF4/SFxT type of saturation.

That swipe makes me think of Q…

I liked the colour scheme. But in the end the old or new way works for me.

Well regardless, at least it won’t be SF4 training room all day, every day…

The swipe looks like a horizontal Psycho Vanish (cvs2). Not sure what it is really…?

Oh I know where that swipe is from. SFxT. It’s his cross art starter.

His psycho crusher ultra at the end definitely looks like a grab super. Get in the proximity of his sphere = grabbed

It is in the trailer. Look at 0:50 after the j.hp. It is his c.st.HP

And I hope what I want becomes the fact and we don’t see Ken’s pathetic form in the original roster at least. Anyway, let’s get back to Bison.

That is what I thought, but in the photo his hand swipes more so I think his torso and shoulder are more rotated than in the video. This could also be the angle of the camera in the photo. It is also very similar to his Psycho Banish punch, but this could be the inspiration for it. When his standing HP and crouching HP are quite possibly this badass looking, you know Capcom really went all out with Bison this time.

Since they didn’t really show it besides the Super move, I suppose Bison may not have a regular charge back, forward+Punch Psycho Crusher in this version.

And although the art styles are still somewhat similar between SF4 and what’s shown of SF5 so far, the model polygon count on the SF5 models are way way way higher. The original SF4 arcade is setup at 720p HD native resolution is it not? We should be getting 1080p FHD for SF5. I mean so far everyone’s teeth has been modeled out more smoothly too.

Everything’s just way more detailed and satisfying right now.

I don’t think he does either, and his b,f+p has been replaced by that Psycho Sphere special seen in one of the screen caps above.

At least we’re still getting the Psycho Crusher in some way, I’m more concerned about the lack of Devil’s Reverse and Somersault Skulldiver. I’m thinking maybe that move we see at 39 seconds, might have replaced d,u+p (Devil’s Reverse). It’s kinda like Decapre’s Psycho Sting.

This would only make sense if d,u+K is actually Death Flutter now NOT Head Stomp and you can perform either DR or HS by your choice of button after the Death Flutter launch.

That’s pretty much how a lot of ultras work these days, if the right move connects, it becomes like a grab and initiates the cinematic ultra sequence. In this case, being hit by Bison’s sphere = you’re fucked. What I wanna know is how big is the hurtbox on this, is it truly a sphere with 360 degrees? Is it as good as an AA as I think it will be?

I’m okay with Devil’s Reverse not making a return… as long as he has a non-charge move to build meter. But he has that psycho fireball or reflection to handle zoning so it’s okay. Devil’s Reverse is a shitty high risk move in SF4 besides EX-ing out for safety against the cast but that’s it. Nobody in high level play is really phased out by it at tournaments.
