it really is no biggy if a series gets more than 2-3 reps… big deal. If they plan to put vergil as a 3rd dmc rep, i can’t say that’s a bad idea because i know vergil will have nice ass move sets. Same with Megaman X… he seems promising also…

Strider, Megaman X, Vergil, Gene (god hand) seems like a god like dlc line up… i can grantee that a package of these four will be the biggest thing capcom will sell in their dlc history. Pair it up with a good marvel dlc, and capcom has made millions of that.
I definitely want strider in the game. if what the same thing with marth and roy being included in smash brothers leading to a reboot of the Fire Emblem series happens? as in, a new strider game in over a decade? I’m down with that. it’s win-win for capcom and us MvC2 fans who want to play as our favorite pringles-flavored, katana-wielding, mechanical animal-commanding ninja.
He wouldn’t have as many moves as Dante. They could choose not to include his Beowulf moves, or his Force Edge moves. The Force Edge moves were Dante clone moves mostly, aside from one combo that used Force Edge and Yamato. So of the two, he’d use the Beowulf weapon moves.
His Air Trick should track to the front as oppose to Dante’s, this is character accurate and kind of interesting.
One of his Summoned Sword moves should, technically, work like Oroboros.
He should have crazy range on normals.
Devil Trigger of course, DMC3 or Nelo Angelo I’m not sure. DMC3, I guess, because people would want Nelo’s attacks in that form. Then again people are pretty chill about being Sparda in look only.
if those are capcom’s choices, Fuck them! they’ll make this into an SSB… they should reserve PW and West for bros or TVC2 or something…
I think zero should have some extra moves, that guy had allot of good moves in the X series, especially that Ice sword one… most of them are from X4, which is good because X4 zero was the MVC zero i dreamed about ever since MVC1. They could insert that Ice sword diving move, that “get ready” thing where he pounds the ground and bunch of fire balls shit out at 180 degrees (could have been a great assist), and that lighting sword that he hurls straight.
He would essentially be a Dante clone with the ability to make swords appear from nowhere like Spiral. Which in another words means that he’s probably going to be a cheapass overpowered top tier character.
Frank West is almost a guaranteed, Capcom said that he was on the way to completion before they shipped the game. We are guaranteed 1 character from Megaman so Megaman X is a decent bet. Phoenix Wright wouldn’t appear, in case you guys didn’t know they wrote a proposal asking the Monster Hunter studio to let a Monster Hunter appear in the game and the studio said no, he wouldn’t fit into the game. I bet they will get the same answer from the Phoenix Wright guys.
It would be profoundly easy to make Wright into a Commando/Doronjo-esque character who simply calls on other characters from the series to jump in and do some trademark action of theirs for his different specials, so even if the designers have a complete lack of imagination when it comes to designing a moveset for him specifically, there is a treasure trove of material to pull from in the series to make him work.
Of course, I don’t actually like the way those sorts of characters play at all, so I’d much prefer someone like Franziska making it in over Wright if they need a rep from that series, but I have to really wonder about people who truly believe that he wouldn’t fit or couldn’t work. Doubly so for people who think he’s too “cartoony” or some nonsense. What game are you guys playing?
Magik sounds nice. However, with vergil and strider (saying they get in)… we have too many sword teleporters. I mean, Strider, dante, deadpool, then lets say we get vergil. Unless they make magik’s teleports as useless as psylockes.
Simple solution, drop Vergil. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE Vergil, but he’s a pretty uninteresting choice for MVC3. We don’t really need another DMC rep, but if I were to pick one I’d go for Lady. Dante + Trish + Lady = HOTNESS.
Look, the main reason I don’t want Vergil to make it in as DLC is that he practically is Dante.
I know they’re not the same character, I know they play differently in the DMC games, but look at him.
Trenchcoat? Check.
Big Sword? Check.
White Hair? Check.
The only things missing are the red color scheme, the cocky attitude, and the guns.
To me, Vergil is to Dante as Charlie is to Guile. A lot of people like one more than the other, but you get a lot of the same thing from both. Same story for Nero, except he’s even more of a clone. The only difference there is the Devil Bringer.
So while Vergil could play different, I just personally don’t want him.
I’d take plenty of people before Vergil. I imagine he’d play like a mix between Dante and Wesker, which honestly sounds like a gamebreaker.
Also, this game needs more Cajuns and ninjas. Juggernaut would probably be a spectacle, too. Even with so many X-Men reps, I don’t care.
Yup, pretty much how I feel. If you gave Dante a couple darkslayer moves then he would truly have every single thing Vergil could offer. He’s still boss though.
The reason i think X, Frank and Phoenix Wright are in is that Capcom/Niitsuma has acknowledged that people want them in. They were also on top of capcom unity’s DLC character poll (along with Gene, Vergil and Strider). Strider is a good bet too.
Marvel side is a big question mark. It would make sense that they’d bring some fan favorites (Juggernaut, Gambit, Venom) and skip the oddball characters (Magik, Mysterio ect).
When do guys think they’ll announce next MvC3? I’m thinking around august.
If they were to actually come out with SMvC3, I feel as if they’d be shooting themselves in the foot if they announced it anytime this year. They should at least allow the current game to be out for a solid year before announcing any major disc-based revisions, otherwise they might experience a pretty dramatic backlash, or so I would assume.
I dunno about a “next” Marvel 3 announcement (honestly seems waaaaaay too soon to announce a full out new version unless it’s DLC), but as for some more DLC news, like maybe a couple new characters to fill up those two squares on the current select screen, I’d think SDCC would be a good time as any.
