Not necessarily, assuming we’re getting Cyke as a part of a Super MvC3 they could (and should) buff them to be useful again. Might make keepaway actually work in this game.

BTW, I can’t believe you guys will want Cyclops over Gambit. Cyclops would essentially be “OPTIC BLAST OPTIC BLAST OPTIC BLAST OPTIC BLAST OPTIC BLAST BEHOLD!!! OPTIC BLAST” while Gambit will be able to do more, especially if they let us throw his cards upwards and rain downwards. MvC3 did not deserve a 60 dollar pricetag. It didn’t even have a spectator mode. The online system is the worst I’ve ever seen. The story mode was mediocre, and there wasn’t much to the game at all. It’s a bare-bones fighters at its best. And even as that it doesn’t feel complete…

4 months later and people only realise this the only reason I play mvc3 is for training mode or player match… game is so bare bones its unbelievable

SF4 vanilla had no spectator mode, same amount of story mode (hence it’s an arcade mode).
And yet most of us dropped more bucks for SSF4, ok is was a discounted price but who says SMvC3 won’t be? (assuming it’s real)
If you didn’t want to spent 60 bucks on something you don’t like than you shouldn’t have.

Finished products? hell all new/yearly the NHL’s Maddens, Smackdown vs RAW’s and World of Warcrafts are updates of an existing game.
(MvC3 had enough characters for a core fighting game imho)
It’s business, companies are here to make money period, if a game does decent there’s bound to be DLC or a followup.

I hoped that S-Kill would announce something at Norcal, anything even if it was just “An announcement is coming soon”. What could the possibly be doing to the game to warrant keeping us completely in the dark like this? They haven’t even announced new costumes. As someone who enjoys the game and loves playing it almost every day I am starting to get frustrated.

In SSFIV I don’t remember people complaining about Akuma being top tier and he’s exactly like Dante in this game, he has a lot of options (Vortex). I think people enjoy watching creative play. How often do you hear the phrase brain-dead applied to Phoenix and Wolverine?

braindead is actually only used in reference to darkphoenix in x-factor 3 and wolverine, phoenix combos actually need a bit of timing compared to divekick then lol what happened?

They will not put in Captain Commando, for the same reason they will not put in Cable:

Capcom is actively discouraging the most memorable aspects of both of those characters (get-off-me assist and zoning, respectively). It is not an accident that the defensive assists in this game are extremely limited and that the zoning in this game is full of holes (to say nothing of the fact that you build almost as much meter by being zoned as you do by zoning).

I really hope this isn’t the message Capcom is trying to send. I understand why they got rid of meter building on whiffed attacks and “fly off the screen” bullshit… that was to prevent runaway from dominating the game ala MvC2 Storm, but I really don’t want to see this game degenerate into nothing but rushdown, with zoning and keepaway continuing to become even weaker.

Right now, Wolverine and Akuma have basically become the Mags/Psylocke combo from MvC2. Why can’t we have a foil to that like with xxx/CapCom in MvC2? Seriously, it would be nice actually seeing CapCom return and throw out Corridors to punish bad rushdown. The Corridor assist would be especially amazing against Phoenix right now too. Want to lame it up with superjump -> toss fireballs? Call in CapCom and blast that bitch out of the sky. So many characters would just love to have a way to get in on Jean when she does this (i.e. when she’s snapped in), but the homing fireballs give her quite enough time to eventually raw tag back out.

To me, Captain Corridor would solve a lot of problems currently plaguing the game. It would make rushdown more honest by giving keepaway and zoning teams the assist they so desperately need, and it would be a powerful tool to fight Phoenix. Granted, we’re only four months into the game, but given the fact that we’re living in an age where information proliferates faster than it ever has been in the history of mankind, I wouldn’t be surprised to see this game “solved” within a few months after Evo.
