CapCom would also be the best assist for Chris
Thanos is basically confirmed with the Avengers movie.
While I overall agree, in your stated example of a Phoenix sj like that, couldn’t you just use Jam Session? We already know it’s no corridor, but I’m certain in that example, you could make do.
You complain about rushdown dominating… then you want CapCom assist to help us deal with Phoenix’s keepaway?
Last weekend X-Ray was playing a terrific zoning game that kept out Noel Brown and Daigo, and gave even J Wong a bit of trouble. Zoning and keep away are still alive and well, just that you have to mix it up with some rushdown. And I like it that way, you can’t run away 100% of the time, you have to stand and fight eventually.
no, hed be fine as is, maybe faster startup on his specials is all, he could be a OTKiller
command throws ftw
has anyone tried seeing if things like tech guardbreaking are in this game, or guard cancelling?
Im seeing an updated MvC3 in the works not now… And it will not be called Super MvC3…
It will be called “Marvel vs Capcom 3: (add something cool here)”, just like TvC: Cross Generation of Heroes and TvC: Ultimate All-Stars
I don’t wanna hex things but wouldn’t it be completely messed up if absolutely nothing get announced at any of the Cons?
To be honest, instead of a Super MvC3 I would rather see a MvC4 with a completely revamped netcode, X Factor replaced by something more balanced and lots of new characters. Even if it takes years to come out I wouldn’t mind the wait.
I don’t know how fast the assist comes out, but Jam Session has enough durability to eat a salty ball, and you can probably use it to punish them in more situations than you would think, since tracking fireball takes more than a whole god damn second to animate.
Jam Session has enough irritability to eat my sanity.
You can also use it to just about completely shut down everything X-23 and Felicia can do.
I would much rather psylock than CapCom
but assists need to be buffed
SSF4 was announced about 7 months after SF4’s release if IIRC. I’d only start to get skeptical if nothing is announced by the end of the year.
Zoning and rushdown aren’t opposites. Keepaway is one aspect of zoning played to the extreme, while rushdown is at the opposite end of the spectrum. Both are about isolating the opponent to a space where you have a tactical advantage, but countering one technique doesn’t make the other technique more or less dominant, especially since Corridor assist hasn’t lent itself to being a particularly good primary assist on rushdown teams (at least not in the past). Phoenix losing keepaway doesn’t make rushdown any better (relative to all the non-Phoenix characters), so long as the Phoenix player is competent in the intermediate distances, or just not used at all. But then again, I’m an MVC2 guy, so the new fighting system may make the Corridor a viable primary assist in a way of which I am ignorant. My joystick has been collecting dust.
Crystal ball, tea leaves or tarot cards? Mirror on the wall? Or was it in Tragic-8-Ball?
I might be alone on this, but I really think that this game needs more Cable. The thought of going all Ghostbusters x 3 on these kids is just too nostalgic. Yeah it’s cheap, but many characters have exploits just as nasty. And it’s fun to watch. EVERYBODY GETS SHOT!
oh man AHVBs everywhere again.
sure, why not? as long as I get to play strider/doom for reals this time (I was terribad at it in MvC2) I’ve got no problems with cable in future versions of the game.
I know that feel bro, I know that feel. I played MVC2 when I was a kid and didn’t rediscover it until really late in the scene’s competitive life. I never properly got to grips with Strider/Doom. Kept clinging to walls and dying. If there was a Strider/Doom equivalent in MVC3 that’d be 7 kinds of awesome. I wouldn’t have to play catch up, and just watching more Clockw0rk (or an equally talented pioneer) going to work would be cool sauce.
yeah man, definitely. the reason I got into the marvel scene was because I stumbled upon the neo vs. clock money match. I feel like wesker in this game is probably the closest thing to strider, but it’s just not the same. for one, he doesn’t ride a mechanical tiger into battle, nor does he have the insane pringles game strider did in MvC2. even the rocks aren’t the same, but they’re still pretty okay as a lockdown assist. not as good as maybe ammy’s cold star or jam session, but I’m willing to pass that up just because doom’s one of my favorite characters to use.
I’m a day one Strider player. I used Stider/CapCom/Lou in MvC, then Strider/Doom/CapCom in MvC2, now Skrull or Viper/Magneto/Doom in MvC3. So I got really familiar with striking down people via chip damage, took time, effort, and patience but it’s fantastic when said strategy succeeds. My team needs Strider back, I miss running circles around crazy rushdown shit. I need my tools back, Capcom; I need my pringles-flavored ninja back.
Has there Been word that strider is coming back? Last I remember reading was the developers couldn’t get the licensing to use Strider for mvc3? And I totally agree with the last few posts abouts cable, I was highly disapoint that he was not in mvc3 as he + sentinel in mvc2 was greatest thing ever.
You heard wrong about licensing issues. I have been correcting that rumour since mvc3 was announced. There has been NO word or shred of evidence that Capcom could not get Strider due to legal issues. It’s NOT a license. That is a rumour based on pure speculation and people started spreading it has fact. Of course no one ever says that they heard from some source that says this was is case, but that they heard from someone else, who themselves have no primary source.
They do not have to rent the character out like with the Marvel license because the CO-OWN the character, so it’s not a licensing issue and there has been nothing to suggest the co-owners Moto-kikaku are being uncooperative. Why would they? Could they even stop the character being used if they wanted to? Considering there was a poll on Unity asking users to vote on which old school franchise they’d like to see rebooted that had Strider on it, it seems like there is nothing stopping them from using the character. I don’t know where people got the idea that Moto-kikaku could veto Capcom’s use of Strider. Doesn’t make any kind of sense. I have said this so many times I’m considering making it my sig.
The reason given for his absence was that Niitsuma didn’t think he ‘fit the concept’ of MVC3. Whatever that means.
