Do you guys play only fighting games? At least it’s the impression I have from reading some posts. I means, most games that win the GOTY award have something like a 12 hours single player mode that you finish and then do absolutely nothing with your game and everyone’s fine with that, but a game where you play for hundreds of hours before spending money again is ridiculous? I mean, I understand the negative points of that, but I also already played Marvel 3 more than any JRPG (that are usually very long) and will be more than happy to buy a new version with lots of new stuff and a better netcode. My money was already worth it on the launch week.
Here is the way I see it… if you had the choice between:
Option A: 1st version of the game comes out on a date “X” and then a year and a half later the 2nd version comes out (possibly a little cheaper) with more content and things fixed/updated from complaints in the first version.
or
Option B: Wait a year and a half longer so you only have to buy 1 game with all the content of the 2nd version but nothing fixed/updated because no 1st version existed to compile complaints and what not.
Even though most of you will probably say “psshhhh I would easily have waited a year and half so I only had to buy 1 thing” that probably isn’t the truth. IF this 2nd version is coming out it will probably address the level 3 x factor complaints a lot of people are crying about. Whereas if they just waited to send out 1 version with more content we would still probably have the shitty level 3 xfactor randomness that we have right now.
Actually I did wait a year for the inevitable SSF4 release. Had I predicted there’d be an AE as well I wouldn’t have bought SSF4. That said even if I had predicted they’d do an update for MVC3 (I had a feeling) I would’ve bought both the first and second editions because unlike SF4 I actually enjoy MVC3.
And dear God, look at some of these other posts… We need a mod in here…
I’ve been saying this for years on these forums. For some odd reason they just can’t seem to understand this simple concept. Either that or they refuse to understand because it would interfere with their ability to bitch and whine about everything Capcom does.
If I told you guys how many hours I logged into SoulCalibur 4 you’d think I had a problem. My MvC3 duration would look hella crazy if I had more access to it as well.
Fighting games offer leagues more bang for buck, provided you’re down to invest time. And btw, I love when games track your total time playing!
as long as they scrape mvc3, take it back to mvc2, give the sprites HR treatment, and add characters that should have been in the game to begin with (namor, arch angel, beast, nightcrawler, quicksilver, fucking ETC.) i’ll buy it.
too bad it’s going to be fucking terrible, just like mvc3.
I think failing to have spectator mode twice is something Capcom will not allow. I’d go as far as to say it’s a significant part of the ‘get it right’ list for this potential upgrade.
People are STILL complaining about capcom releasing updates for their games every year? That’s practically been Capcom’s business model for the past 25 years. I really don’t see them changing that any time soon.
Eh…The only people that care about spectator mode are those that enjoy being able to have fun with multiple friends online. You also get the benefit of observing players like you would if you had the ability to do so.
spectator mode is a must, shit I don’t wanna play all the tym but I don’t mind watching other people play. I just like the game. And besides, if you can go to an arcade, it should’t matter, but us that can’t its important.
Well they’ve only have so many [AAA] fighting game releases and so far SF4/SSF4 had very playable netcode (compared to rivals SC4, T6, VF5, BBCT, BBCS, and DOA4). MvC3 had netcode on par with SNK’s XBLA offerings, which should be embarrassing for them. Their XBLA fighting games (HDR, MvC2) had great netcode in general but they weren’t exactly Capcom internal.
As you can tell I was pleased with SSF4’s netcode. I think it’s one of the better ones this console generation. Understand, though, that I also think they all have some ways to go before they catch up to other genres.
With that in mind I can conclude SFxT will have comparable netcode to SSF4, if not the same - and I’m fine with that. An MvC3 upgrade title is up in question, that better be on the ‘get it right’ list along with spectator mode (which is *not *a fucking “scrub” thing wtf).
Replay channel (especially the one Capcom is promising in AE) is a way more important feature to me (and I dare to say to the MvC3 community) than spectator mode.
If they can’t give us spectator mode because of potential lag on the matches, I settle with larger lobbies where multiple matches happen at once (1st faces 2nd, 3rd plays 4th, and so on - losers go to the bottom of the list, you can skip turns, one match starting at every 4 minutes). Hell, I’d rather have multiple matches over spectator mode even if spectator is possible.
