Really? Cmon. I like Jin’s design too, but there are obvious reasons he’s not in demand. People want Strider not just because he was a cool character, but because he had an amazing competitive life as an exciting fighting game character. There’s not as much demand for Jin because he was a character from a one off game who translated poorly into fighting games as a bland low tier people only recognized as a portrait on the character select. Hell, you didn’t even see Jin in his OWN game. You only saw him as a portrait next to the meter bar and in speech text-boxes. He was just the pilot inside the robot you actually played as. That’s like having to play as Leo instead of Jehuty. All he had going for him was his cool look. What we’re interested in is who makes for a fun fighting game character.
Also, helps that Strider’s featured in four more games than Jin and that his series has been rebooted as Moon Diver.
Gene and Linn have potential seeing as they’re from games based on OTT fighting with expansive, colourful movesets. They’d have movesets that consisted of more than Jin’s playstyle of dive kick into nothing.
That said, if Shuma Gorath can make it then anyone can.
