I was pleasantly ecstatic that Luffy won. He’s been using Rose since day one and has been constantly putting her on the map in each iteration of the SF4 series. I also find all the comments hilarious. I forget where but Luffy stated he felt Rose was mostly unchanged with her favorable matches becoming easier and her unfavorable matches still being just that, unfavorable. The man puts in work and has a track record to prove it.
All this nerf talk is just ridiculous. Her back dash has been the same since the start so it’s definitely not just getting good now and it is still very susceptible to OS’ s. Hopefully he continues his trend of placing high. He’s definitely the most enjoyable Rose to watch.
Everyone that isn’t brain dead knows c.mp xx spiral ISN’T a true block string. He didn’t use any OS on Luffy to stop him from backdashing for free, he didn’t use s.mk to poke at Luffy when he was in range since s.mk from Sagat can stuff c.mp pokes, didn’t really use s.lk to stop slides, and threw a shit ton of fireballs that any Rose would just take and use for free meter. IE, HE DIDN"T KNOW THE MATCH UP.
Of course through it’s easy for idiots like you to come here and claim we are just ignoring whatever BS is being posted by another equally clueless moron as dismissing it because we want to be “heros for using our character” as you put it. No, the simple matter of the fact is that we know how to shut down our own character or at least make things harder on her. Bonchan is a great player don’t get me wrong, but he clearly has never played a high level Rose or had much Rose experience at all. His play style demonstrated this.

But am I the only one surprised by how good Rose’s FORWARD dash is? The number of times he was able to dash up -> throw on ALL KINDS of different players was astonishing. The only one who seemed to tech it with any level of reliability was Snake Eyes, and I think he was crouch teching, because he got blown up by a hop kick (standing medium kick?) at least once.
That said, I hate fighting Rose. She’s right up there with Bison and Sakura in terms of characters where I just don’t know when I am allowed to press buttons.
This goes along with you not knowing the match ups I’m afraid and just means you need more time in the lab against competent Rose, Sakura and Bison players.
As for her forward dash, Luffy only really used it when he was in the other players heads and they were second guessing themselves. Just like when you aren’t sure when you can press buttons he did this to them when they were guessing and it was quite honestly a work of art they way he did it. Rose isn’t typically a character you bone up on or prepare for since there are so few Rose main’s and even fewer that are actually any good. You’ll note the players that are familiar with Rose are the ones that did significantly better against Luffy. Case in point Snake Eyes, since he regularly plays Filipinoman’s Rose on WNFs he had a good idea of what he was supposed to do against Luffy’s Rose and really that match could have gone either way.
Her forward dash WAS one of the buffs in Ultra, having one less frame of recovery. However that still left it at 20 frames, which is not particularly fast compared to others. She does have some of the best distance on the dash of anyone in the game though, which catches a lot of people off guard.
I will admit that this clip changed my opinion of the final, and Bonchan did play it wrong. I do believe Bonchan is better than Ryan, but he clearly chose the wrong strategy. Hats off to Luffy. My assessment was wrong.
Hmm, an option select from Sagat’s sweep? Hmm I wonder how many times I have seen Sagat land those in a match. come to think of it I think I have seen more Ixion matches than the sweep getting thrown out.
Lets see both Sagat throws flings the opponent far away so that is not an option, ok maybe off a tiger uppercut then, you need some godlike practice to be able to get a meaty sweep and be that close for that to work.
FYI: Gen can only OS rose if he is POINT BLANK and geared up to eat ex drill if she reversals. but its all good. besides I can OS rose after a Gen point blank sweep but hey I have to get in there right?

Rose kills Sagat zoning if she’s capable of keeping it up with his fireballs. He’s kinda forced to play close/mid range, where he would get the chance of doing a knockdown on rose via multiple ways. What’s the problem ?
