Good stuff. I’d left Cammy for Rose six months ago because Cammy begat some bad habits like panic DP and have been enjoying playing more because of it but would have never thought a Rose player would do it. Congrats to L(o)uffy and the Rose army.

Crouchblock, tech throws, punish everything and IN THEORY there’s no reason why she should win anything. This victory is 100% due to the player being a monster.

Actually, I always thought Rose was a pretty decent character even before Ultra but maybe it’s because most of my Rose experience is me getting demolished by Filipinoman so maybe my opinion is a bit biased. Rose will always be a serious threat in the right hands and I see no reason for her to get nerfed regardless of Louffy’s accomplishments this year.

However, it’s a bit of a stretch to say she doesn’t have the tools to win any matches…

I’m not saying she can’t win. I’m saying she’s the most fair character in the game. No overhead, no untechable throws, a shitty crossup attack. She just has to work so hard unless she’s fighting a fireball-based character. Then she has to work slightly less hard. She has no mixup potential because everything she has can be blocked low unless she jumps and what do you do to someone who jumps alot?

Rose wins on pressure, prediction, and punishing. Oh and footsies. Footsies all day. Cr.MP IS STRAIGHT FROM THE GODS. My favorite attack in the game.

I have to say poison might fit that category slightly better.

Her mixup potential up close is between throw and cl.mk. It’s actually okay and she gets more off it than most characters get off their overheads. Lacking an overhead isn’t a huge deal if you have something that fulfills that purpose. The people wanting to remove throw invincibility on it are NUTS. I know it’s a thing that like…Ryu players back in the day said he was complete trash because his cr.mk hurtbox extended past the hitbox a little. People like to act like every little nerf kills their character but removing cl.mk throw invuln would ACTUALLY KILL HER. Making options less strong is one thing. Removing one they need to even attempt their game is another. Now if she was airborne during it or it hit overhead or something I could see toning it down but it’s exactly as it needs to be.

they take that away they better make her close standing hk an overhead…

Also its kinda funny and sad to see people complaining about Rose just like they did with Gen last evo. Rose is strong right now. No question about that. He never stopped dreaming and never gave up on playing Rose! His win was inspiring…

Once again, Congrats Luffy. Seeing Rose get the Championship is a dream come true for a lot of people.

I gotta admit I’ve never been a fan of Luffy, but he made it to top 8, then finally on to win the whole damn thing. Can’t hate on anybody who does that with Rose. Well done, soul sister.

On the other hand I hope LowTi3rGod gets all the hate he deserves for repping top tier now if he sticks with Rose and unabashedly continues to act full of himself, and as if he’s treading in new terroritory none of us haven’t left behind years ago.
