Perhaps with enough research, this question is already answered, but the only concrete answer I found here is that LS-32 will NOT work on HRAP3. However, I’ve used different Seimitsus in the past (I’ve used the Seimitsu with a slightly taller stick, which was L?-5?,that comes stock with a satin black sleeve, 5-pin connector and I love it). I’m wondering what might work.
I have the regular black HRAP3. I will definitely swap out the buttons, but would prefer to also swap out the stick at the same time. I’ve been using Seimitsu for awhile now, and I can hang with the JLW if I must, but it feels really loose to me. The Seimitsu tends to require a bit more force, and less travel, but that could just be me. I can still hang with a Sanwa if I have to (and if I have to, I will look into those sanwa spring mods that were posted).
Muchos thanks in advance, and please forgive me if there was some nook or cranny I failed to see in my own searches.
Really? I thought that the HRAP3 had the same mounting plate as the HRAP2, and there’s DEFINITELY been more than a few people on here who’ve put an LS-32-01 into a HRAP2.
You might be confusing it with the fact that HRAP3 and HRAP2 surface templates are identical. However, the mounting bracket on a HRAP3 is like a HRAP1B per the HRAP faq which is definitely restrictive against using an LS-32 without some ambitious modding.
If it was done with no modding, or at least simpler modding, it would be nice to know! I’ll try searching for that post so I can maybe bug them.
EDIT: Thanks for your post Tetsuosan. Because of that, I got the idea to search HRAP3 and LS-55 and came up with this gem, which is probably what you’re referring to:
Most importantly * "Long Japanese joysticks: Seimitsu LS-55, LS-56, Sanwa JLF, and some variants of the Sanwa JLW. All of these sticks, except for the JLW variants, will fit in any HRAP model."*
Yeah definitely. I love the HRAP3, because it works great for GGPO as well. I kind of have a PS2 stick, but I made the box myself and it’s ugly, so I decided to go the modding route until I have a better setup for making my own. Plus, I don’t like using converters if I don’t have to. Especially with the PS3. Just a hassle.
I’ll update this thread when I verify the thing works like EvilSamurai said. I’ll see if the HRAP 3 section of the Faq can update with this helpful info too. I think it’s important. Thanks again SRK.
If I didn’t already have a HRAP3, I would definitely get the Regular Edition SFIV stick and simply swap out the parts (that one is reportedly fully compatible with all seimitsu sticks).
It’ll come out to about $130 if you swap out the stick and 6 buttons though. Which is actually pretty decent.
The HRAP3 has a different mounting plate attached to the panel, which is a huge pain. The easiest way to use your L-32 would to buy a custom panel that will allow proper mounting. I picked up a custom panel from a member here and everything fits great.
The guy you’re looking for is vocalninja. He sells custom control panels for the T5 and HRAP series sticks. They by default can fit a Sanwa JLF and an LS-32 or an LS-40 with an S-shaped mounting plate.
Indeed it does. I just put an LS-56-01 in my HRAP3 last night. Thanks to the Lizard for supplying the parts in such a timely manner!
I feel it’s important to note, that I had to use some washers so that the bolts do not touch the underside of the control panel, which actually bends it. This being because the metal mounting plate is much thinner than the plastic mounting plate of the Sanwa. This very simple of course, and any resourceful mind will figure this out.
There might have been other solutions, but I felt that was the best and simplest one for me.
Yeah I started out on an LS-32 and still have the most mileage on one. I would have to say for me, it’s a rather flawless transition, and I like the plastic sleeve on it.
I still have this same LS-32 that I put in my first stick, shown here (which is from 2004):
My LS-32’s metal shaft got rather ugly over time with wear and tear; although this probably wouldn’t have happened if it wasn’t ever exposed to so many liquids by mistake. When given the choice, I would use my LS-56 over the LS-32, simply for the sleeve. Other than that, I can’t say there’s much difference in feel. It’s not like the difference between the Sanwa, which was huge. It’s *still *a seimitsu, and has that tight, robust feel I’m used to. The Sanwa, just felt too loose to me. When I’m playing on someone’s Sanwa though, I never complain, and it probably doesn’t make a big difference. It’s like jumping on someone else’s bike. You can still ride it, and probably just as well, but you’re aware of how different it feels.
I don’t get that feeling between the two Seimitsus.
