It’s like I found the thread I need most whenever I play my girl. I don’t get it, in all my years of playing video games and experiencing both ends of the cheapest/most rageworthy/WTF shit around, nothing makes me rage as hard as an off moment while playing this character. I love her gameplay to death, but sometimes, eating things after a masterfully executed overall match plan and watching your patience and
Case in point, I’m playing a match recently with my brother, a shoto maniac who laughs at me for picking “high execution” characters and playing the game without the constant “rushdown” mentality and I’m there doing my best to play footsies, use proper pokes for anti-airs, set up meaties, all that good stuff. The plan is paying off as I’m dealing with his Oni pretty damn well. Mind you, this was the beginning of what should have been a great uphill fight back to even footing since the entire beginning of the match, my mind was off and I kept on falling for the most embarrassing shit thanks in part to said mind fart and my execution being one step behind my mind.
Anyways, after bringing it back (both of us were around 20 - 25%) I’m there in my mind determined to keep it real classy while he’s over there LARPing it up. I scout out a Raging Demon coming up since he’s held his stock of meter for the entirety of this comeback I almost had and be sure to play it five steps ahead. Suddenly, the moment comes, he goes for the air version. I’m thinking “HOLY SHIT YES” because it’s U2 anti air time, right?
…
I even made sure to wait an extra instant so he would be in complete recovery mode when his face would be introduced to some heel. Instead, I get RD’d on the start up jump towards the wall at some god forsaken corner of the upper screen.
Admittedly, I guess I underestimated how long RD stays active, but the salt, it becomes me.
ok, I take back my rant. I found out my Xbox was connected through wireless. Now that the wired connection is re-established, I’m bodying people again. YYAAAAAY!!! hehehe
I’m raging less over losing and more over people who disconnect before your win is recorded. Sure, I only started playing online this week, but hey, we all gotta start somewhere!
Ughhhh… Playing this horrible yang. We’re both down to almost no life and I’m in the corner. He does three rekkas!!! C.lk hayate ftw!! Mega lag spike while his rekka is coming out. He… Is… Mashing… Ultra… Whole match was like this.
i just get highly upset at my level of play when I lose to a gief or t hawk after eating 2 throws and I sit there wondering how am I suppose to get in and do anything but whenever they block im like automatically in a command grab and half my life is gone.
But nothing makes me rage more than losing to a A rank Adon by a close call, then every time I randomly get the same person again for a ranked match they just remove you. It’s like…How the hell are players going to improve their game, when you do grimey shit like kick them from the match. I know some people want to play their PP rank and whatnot, but I thought players were suppose to help each other get better, not beat you down and keep you there -_-
Wonder if in this topic we can post some rage agains Makoto also. I’ll assume we can.
So after a very nice set of endless matchs, against the same guy, with my Makoto wining most of them, I get a message from my opponent (during a match) asking if i ever get tired of the same char. I promptly anwser that Mak is my favorite char but I could use a training with a diferent char. The match ends and I get this message from him:
Haven’t had decent internet since the first few weeks AE came out. In that week I had 1700 PP. I stopped playing until now, with my new and improved internet (though I still played a little offline, but I was far more into 3SO). This morning I managed to drop that down to 700. I cannot comprehend how I lost to some of the people that beat me. Knowing what you should be doing and losing anyway hurts. Gotta get my mind and reflexes back into sync. Didn’t think I could miss the days when I played Super Makoto.
I was… Literally about to post something like this!
Man, it was dodgy the last two days.
I had recently made it into the region of 2000PP for the first time (Huzzah!) but after two poor days it has fallen from 2200 to 1100.
Now, I’m not someone who plays just to play PP, but this was frustrating for me regardless. I really struggled to explain the majority of the losses. I guess it was just one of (or two of) those days. I think the worst thing about me is if I’m doing badly, I won’t stop playing and put the game aside for a while, I’ll keep going until I just loose lots, it’s a bad habit.
That’s the thing about SF, when you’re winning you keep playing because you like winning and want to continue to win. But when you lose, you keep playing because you want to win! Which can be dangerous since low morale or frustration can cause you to play poorly. It’s a vicious cycle! I eat cause I no happy…and I no happy cause I eat!
Dont you just hate it when your winning the match so you just know the opponent is gonna get desparate. They ready to mash dp at a moments notice. You obliged them with a bait> back dash. But then NOOOOO, their wake up/reversal move carries them forward enough that it just chomps down into our poor girls billion frames of recovery…and …you…lose

Or how about when you are losing the match, but then your guile theme comes on. You get a few expert reads, the music gets louder, you get the opponent in the corner, the music plays louder, you got this- counter hit this, ex karakusa that. You get the knock down and go for the final mixup, the music is turned to 11! Karakusa and…the record scratches
You drop the freaking follow up…
Oh man, you gotta start plinking or double tapping those followups! And oh GAWD why’d you backdash after a forward throw!? Cammy has so much that can punish backdashes, it might have been a read from your earlier play or maybe even a reaction…even a raw spiral arrow woulda caught ya I think. You had pretty good positioning after the throw man!
I’ve been caught by stupid random shit (or maybe it wasn’t I dunno, I’ve played that cammy a few times, can’t remember if he did random stuff or not) too…had a bison do a full screen wake-up u2 and caught me sticking out a s. HK…what can I say, I was looking for ex. psycho!
Also, I’ve been raging about scrambled inputs on some jumping type moves, like dictator’s headstomp and claw’s wall dive. I keep getting oroshi instead of fukiage on claw and the other day I had a bison do ex head stomp with the close punch follow up on my wake-up to try and chip me out. He usually went for that follow-up…so I was like YES HP Fukiage tiem! But no…the input came out as he crossed over my head and mak stood there like she did a lp fukiage, had to watch the replay to find out wtf happened. -_-
All of western washington, except a few spots, lost power yesterday, because of the snow and ice weighing down the trees, snapping their branches and then crashing into power lines…
Well, anyway, we get power back today, i was all psyched to play, but my hands are still fucking freezing because the heating has only been on for a couple hours. And holy fuck, it definitely fucks with your execution, so hard to play on a freezing cold stick with freezing cold hands. Lost to some really shitty vega, made me upset.
It’s an awesome feeling when you reach out to karakusa Ryu after spending a whole mach setting it up just to see him reach out and toss you over his back. Ugh. I have lost a whole bunch over the past couple of days, thinking about taking a week off to kinda chill. I’m getting burnt out.
I feel like it should be mentioned that if you are losing, a lot, then perhaps you should stop and hit that refresh button on the basics. Just go back to the start, forget about all those fancy resets or hard combos and just go back to the basics. Blocking, punishing, anti-air, keeping the opponent out rather than trying to get in. It worked for me back when I played Abel (I leveled up my game soon afterwards as well) and right now I’ve decided to go back and refresh my mind and it seemed to work wonders.
I hate online, literally. Even there were about 3 above my level which I knew I was gonna get creamed. But the rest… it was a bunch of damn scrubs which I can cream if I put my mind into it, but somehow they are able to go faster than I can, my input’s delayed to go either do something else or wiff. Why is it that offline really opens it’s arms more?
