Losing for all ages! The new Rage thread (with props to Gruntsworthy)

I started playing Makoto because Viper was becoming too easy. Ofcourse Viper has a higher execution demand, but her set-ups became too familiar and her oki cant be reversaled by most of the cast. With Makoto EVERYONE has an answer to what you do and you have no easy way in or out like Viper has. You just have to guess right, both offencively and defencively.

Anyway, it just sounds like Flash is getting his ass wooped by random Makotos. Funny considering he was really glad with her buffs at first and said that he was switching from Viper to Makoto.

That’s why I dropped my xbox and went to pc edition : )

I could have sworn that people considered her to be damn near the lowest tier fighter in the game, now they call her the easiest, as if shes cheap and everyone uses her… Cmon guys… Dont start with the foolery and excuses kuz your gettin your ass beat.

If Makoto is a “scrub character that carries the player” Yun is a win button.

Yeah. But fuck a dive kick. S.MP & EX Fukiage all day. But its the Recka pressure that gets me. I probrably take 150-200 just from Recka chip damage alone.

I really should EX Fukiage some more. I don’t use it like…at all.

Its kind of hard to get used to using fukiages kuz they have NO range, and that makes me say screw it. Just gotta renember to dash before you do it, then it works well.

This, who knows how many times I’ve been hit by a neutral jump attack in the corner because I used hp fukiage (my reactions are ass), but if I used EX fukiage I would be dealing out massive damage instead of eating a ch j.hk combo.

I cant get my IA Tsurugis to come out low enough. I guess its really just a matter of steady practice, but this is really annoying. Nnnot working..

I found it difficult to do IA Tsurugis for like, the first half hour or so of practicing it but there’s a really easy way to do it that makes it instant. Dunno if it’s been posted since I haven’t fully read the FAQs and stickies but here’s how I do my Tsurugis:
Just hold up/forward and do hcb+kick all in one motion. To make timing easier and for practice, do a dash and during the dash animation, hold up/forward and as soon as her dash animation ends, do the hcb+kick. There’s a small timing window that you’ll notice because you’ll sometimes do a karakusa instead of Tsurugi but once you get that out the way, the Tsurugis become instant

QcF-uf-QcB or 2369314 or :qcf::uf: :qcb: (whatever floats your boat) Should work if you’re not doing it too fast. Makes it a lot easier. Hope I helped.

EDIT: You dont have to put in QcF at the start, you could do df-f-uf or 369 or :df::f::uf: wich is just a little bitt faster. Im used to doing quartercircels you know. Both motions works for every character that has a moves they can instant-air.

Ooooohh. Got it. Got some Karakusas, but it works much better. thanx

I’m only upset when i lose with makoto, if i’m playing any other character, i really dont give much of a shit.

If you get karakusa, you’re doing it too fast. Using this method you can do it a little bit slower than you would usually do.

Anyway, you’re welcome

Terrible games yesterday.
After monday doing very decent matchs, i was thinking “hey im getting better at this” had a awfull matchs.
Men I was missing combos i should be doing with my eyes closed, like karakusa->s.Hp (yes i was failing this combo)
IA Tsurugi I manage to pull one on the 6 or 7 matchs i tryed :frowning:

It was a bad day. Im sad

I 100% cosign this since making the jump from viper to mak about 2 months ago i just have random moments where everything i seem to try just does not work and the last two weeks i go from 2700ish pp to 1100 it’s just a chain of loss’s.

I do not usually get bothered by loss’s but lately it is a streak i cannot seem to shake.
I hop’ed on for my lunch and dropped three match’s straight to various skill opponents.

I’m rereading match data and endlessness with friends but i’m getting chewed up lately.

man this week been horrible. i been losing left and right. i been trying to play defensive with her and stick to her basics as of now ( AA, buffering hayate into my pokes…doing more tsurugis. trying to safe jump correctly) but i still lose to mash, footies, pokes and random shit when i go on the offensive. play a chun in endless…was going even until i was trying to outpoke her S.ferice…got hit 3 times with it and got hella mad lol… i think losing makoto makes me more salty then any other character i play. i think its because shes the 1st real characther im studying like its a midterm exam in havard. when i was playing ken and i lost…meh…when i played cody and i lose so what? but makoto? man i gotten so salty this week i been in training mode for 5 days trying to improve. lmao.

good thing is tho is that i’ve been trying to watch more players and see what they’re doing. usually when i watch vids idk what to look for. however this time im gonna look for the places im at my weakest and copy what they do.

i’ve also decided that since im still losing alot with mak on and offline. im just not gonna use her for tourneys until i can hit everything correctly online at least. ill just use her for offline/ casuals until i feel like i can be consistent with this character. mak still my main but i gotta win offline to get my tourney money back lol

Maybe mak isn’t the problem? Maybe you should be focusing more on fundamentals over set ups. Learn how the game plays before you dive deep into character specifics. Not saying you don’t know how to play, but try taking a step back, practice with other characters and figure out more of what works and what doesn’t, then start getting into the deeper things.

i never said it was mak it was always me. and fundamentals is what i been working on i rarely go for a setup lol… i just had one of those weeks
