Lord of the Dark Dimension, the Dormammu thread

Yo guys, new vids on SRK’s front page.

Dormammu has a teleport and you can see it in the second vid.

The new videos make his charging a little more clear, either he has 2 specific moves that are identified by the glow on his hands or he has multiple moves that works like this(this seems more like the real effect) and can only have two charged at once. The ball does not work like aegis/catastrophe but seems to have more tracking than the chaotic flame. If i made any wrong observations, please clear that up.

when he does the hand charge move he says ‘Power of the Vishanti’.
Liking Dorm a lot more now, he’s got some pretty useful tools.

Looks like he had one of trish’s ground traps too.

@Tizoc: I think he says “power of the creator” with the blue flame and “power of the destructor” with the red flame

Biggest difference seems to be that dormammu has a LOT of specials… I saw at least three different OTG style moves ( dark pillar like blackheart’s, a lava pillar, and a flame pillar that followed up with meteors ), his actual meteor special, his two powerups, a teleport, flight, a projectile, that… dark… ground…wave… thing… he does against VJ in the second new video, and that multi hit vortex special.

Oh, and there was something that looked like a bomb he put on the ground, uses it on Chun in one of the videos…

Dormammu is definitly on team so far… all his specials look really intresting…

So things added that we’ve seen in the new video:

Teleport (and a fast one)
Special out of his powerup that Makes it so you can’t jump! (!!!)
Using both ‘hands’ to throw a really mean version of meteor shower.

~At one point he trys to charge when he’s arleady powered up with that hand. I wonder if its’ just doing it, or if they stack?

Edit: Having rewatched it (I thought I’d hate Dorm but he’s freakin’ amazing) I’d guess that the number of charges he gets determines what he can do with glowy hands.

Like one charge red makes a quick explosion in front of him, 2 charges does the ‘small fire column then meteors’. Could be coincidence of course, but that’s what it looks like.

I think he does the full meteor in his debut video too, what’s kinda cool/new though is him comboing the vortex off of the meteor hits.

In the original video I was wondering how he did the various meteors, I guess its different combinations of his power-up move.

The fast one is really really brutal.

That like floor thing he did against Joe at about 0:47 of the second video…is that the thing that keeps them from jumping that was mentioned?

Seems like it is, he says ‘stay grounded’, and joe doesn’t jump for the duration of the move (and his dashes are kind gimped up).

With these demos its always hard to tell though. “Is that what it does, or are they just not jumping and being confusing?”

This character will be a problem for most if not all. X-factor chip damage may be another strength he has considering how many different things he can have on the screen at once (Floating Bomb shenanigans). As a matter of fact, Floating Bomb reminds me of HSF being that he recovers before you, making it a good time to powerup, tag, teleport, Chaotic Flame, whatever. The fact that he has a teleport now in addtion to flight and airdash makes him more threatening. Then to top it all off, he hurts. On the downside a few of his counter characters seem like Dante, Deadpool, another Dormy, and maybe Skrull because of their teleports (and thats only if Dormy player is trying to be lame/run/keepaway).

Looking to be at least as deadly as the real DDT.

EDIT: I’ve redone this list to be more descriptive and more thorough, it’s further down this same page.

Here’s a list of all the specials I’ve been able to make out:

  • Purple (or blue) hand power up move
  • Red hand power up move
  • I think I saw him do both powerups at once in the original Dormammu trailer, but I may be misremembering (or this might have been a meteor activation)
  • Funky purple pillar of stuff
  • Red fiery pillar -> meteors (not sure if this was separate or not)
  • Meteors (definitely affected by red hand powerup)
  • Big gravity ball with various ranges from right in front to full screen (also an assist)
  • Weird purple dart projectile that seems to cause wallbounce on hit
  • Some sorta strange pulse on the entire floor (only time it was used it was blocked) - Edit: This actually has the effect of gluing the enemy to the floor. In the one instance we’ve seen it so far, it lasts for at least five real-time seconds or until VJ gets hit, it’s kinda hard to tell.
  • Red flames on floor directly in front of Dormammu, seem to stay for a bit kinda like a Trish trap.
  • Teleport
  • Flight
  • Someone said they’ve seen him do some sort of block that causes opponents to fly away in a hittable state, but I can’t say I’ve really seen this (Edit: probably an editing trick, not a move)
  • Edit: He has some sort of explosion right in front of him after using the red powerup twice

It definitely seems like the red powerups make his flame-related moves stronger, and the purple powerups make his void-related moves stronger, but it’s hard to tell with only like 3 total minutes of Dormammu gameplay footage to work with.

Another thing I’m wondering about is whether his powerup specials have any effect on either of his supers.
