Umm, because this game isn’t 3rd strike? Her ambiguous crossup j.LK is pretty important in matchups where kunai vortex doesn’t really work well.
I hit people with j.lk-j.mk cross up TC ALL the time, even in the corner
Yeah, j.LK is great on characters where the Vortex isn’t a good option. j.LK into c.LP c. LP s.LP sweep is the shit. After the sweep you can super jump with another j.LK to cross up into c.LP c. LP s.LP sweep again.
Also anyone else know that Ibuki’s Ultra 2 beats Chun’s Ultra 1 on reaction? I was pleasantly surprised at that.
Ibuki’s U2 should blow through any **random **grounded horizontal Ultra as long as you’re doing it within half screen range during her first strike animation. So if anyone is desperately trying to chip you with anything like Chun U1, Rufus U2, Fei U1 and so on you can easily use your U2 to counter it.
Wouldn’t the super jump make Ibuki jump way too far to even hit her opponent?
There is a little timing involved. If you too jump early yeah the j.LK will whiff.
Try is out a let me know what you find, never really did much testing on this setup. Just did it in a match one day and kept doing it. Actually I’ll run some tests myself.
I don’t believe it’s important at all honestly. Like I said, I never did it in 3s, and what I’ve been doing works great. Vortex and crossups are something too many Ibuki players stake the entire match on; I’ve wrecked quite a few of other Ibuki players by isolating, and eliminating vortex, most of them didn’t have anything else. She’s quite possibly the most versatile character in the game, with the most mix-ups and mind games, and so many people are tapering her down to simply vortex and cross up play. (I’m not saying you, or anyone else in particular, I’m speaking generally).
My Ibuki consists, of constant movement and staying within Kezekiri range; all the time; the only match up I ever even have issues with is Vega, cause he’s a soulless coward! D:< (But a well timed cr.lp puts his air attacks in check).
Right now though, I’m testing what I can poke into combo’s easily with against most of the cast; in 3s it was jab (fastest move in the damn game! Why did they kill her jab?!), it’s leaning closer to st.FP (throw range), but I’m sure Ill find something more suitable. (I’m referring to like if you do a j.mk and it’s blocked or you whiff, though how do you whiff? What can I quickly recover with, st.mk isn’t a bad choice either)
Also with the st.RH, I’m still trying to push the limits of what’s capable with that, SJC>Kasumi Suzaku is fun and will stun opponents (kinda like WTF stun, not actual dizzy). It’s original mechanic of ST.RH,command dash,st.RH or any and all mixups where in are completely useless, just angers me to no end… (Someone let me know if you find a way to juggle this instead of just going into a jump attack).
Overall Ibuki is a cute and decent shell of her former 3s glory; which isn’t bad, I suppose.
I hear you DRCsyntax vortex and cross up stuff should only be a part of you Ibuki game. I agree.
That said I just tested the cross up j.LK into c.LP c. LP s.LP sweep on the cast.
Does not work on Sakura, Honda, El Fuerte, and Bison. s.LP whiffs.
Kinda works on Gen but your jump needs be late as hell due to his weird wake up animation.
Won’t Cross up T.Hawk because of how tall he is. Combo works though.
Dee Jay and Zangief had some wired stuff where it worked then on my next super jump it wouldn’t cross up then it would again. Could be good as the cross up is random they can’t go by the sound to try to block.
Works on Adon, but watch out for sweep missing due to shifting hitbox. Will randomly miss because of this.
Rose was just random it works sometimes not others. I wouldn’t use it on her.
So if you are thinking of folding this into you Ibuki game take it in to training first to get the jump timing down. As I said you can’t jump that early or the j.LK will whiff. Also be wary of mashed out reversals etc etc this is only a cross up attempt after all.

Yeah, it’s way easier for me off s.LP though. Don’t get the consistency off c.LP that I want.
Ah, I see. Sometimes I find myself going c.LP c.LP s.LP, only to realize that I forgot that my opponent was crouching so I drop my combo. =(
I do that too. Such an annoying mistake.
that’s why cr.lp cr.lp s.mk is so awesome.
For those who have trouble with 1 frame links you can just get in the habit of omitting on of your cr.lp’s.
One cr.lp -> st.LP -> s.mk will hit crouchers.
yeah, i use it a lot to, but it still seems less reliable then c.lp c.lp s.mk
but i don’t plan to be depends on 1 frame link for a while (to many dp masher around here)
Apparently Momochi likes playing as Ibuki but doesn’t think he will use her in tourneys since he thinks she’s only doing well right now since people don’t really know her that well.
i completely agree with him. I’ve fought many high ranked players that just get retarded when I bust out Ibuki. You can jump after them after a lp mp hk hk TC, and they won’t SRK or do anything besides block, no matter how many times u do it. Same with Hien on wakeup.
Once people learn to properly block crossup kunai’s, and target combo’s, and vortexing, she will get a bit weaker (i still dont agree with her EXTREMELY low tier rankings)
