Looking for Love: Ibuki General Discussion Thread

Woo hoo. Played a few games as Ibuki after a 2 day break and I connected a Tsumuji Loop and st.HK SJC 100%. It was only a handful, but it’s a small victory every time. Although the Xbox has been packed up again…

Raped Mago, did pretty good against poongko. Eliminated Fillipino Champ. Lost to random XBL Yun, and then got eliminated by random XBL Yun in losers final.

AE blows.

Sounds about right. Sorry dude I know your pain

Ya. At least it was cool exposing Mago ad having Momochi try and talk to me about Ibuki.

You used Yun against F.Champ?

That’s pretty cool I’ve never been a fan of Mago. Did you play Momochi or did he just try to talk to you about Ibuki?

I only played Ibuki. I thought about picking Ryu the second time against the Yun player but I didn’t care since 2012 is right around the corner.

Momochi isn’t playing any non japanese players. Him and the rest of team asia were together the whole time and Poongko was pointiing at me to play casuals and that’s when he spoke to me.

About to play Infiltration.

Ah okay, it’s just that F.Champ tweeted “f yun”, I wondered if that was because of you lol.

How’d you do against Infiltration? I’ve only played his Ryu but he gave me so much trouble lol he destroyed me

As soon as I sat down to play him, laugh came and told em they had to play a match.

I think I would have did good against his Sagat.

That Yun champ tweeted about was the same Yun that beat me.

Congrats on your wins

Well, I often go with cr.MP after any kind of Okizeme against Fei Long, it goes above all of his reversals if correctly placed (and since it doesn’t look like especially safe, people tend to spam reversals when they see this kind of action). When you spend an entire and looong fight only jumping around, there is a huge chance that your opponent will get used to it (assuming that he is good enough).

I think that one of Ibuki’s best assets is that she has an incredible list of safe jumps/ safe set ups, and if you know them well enough, you can change them SO MUCH so the opponent can’t figure out if it is really safe or not. Meaty MPs, safe jumps, meaty kunais, command dash… Choices are huge

As an example:
http://ibukissf4.over-blog.com/article-ibuki-vs-yun-setups-84798735.html (found in Saunic’s blog – Saunic is imho the best French Ibuki, and is definitely among Europe’s best Ibukis - the blog’s in French, but if you need any translation I can help you )
You have here 11 (!) safe setups against Yun. I’m learning them right now and I can ensure that it gives you a big advantage: surprising the opponent each time he’s down.

Lol

=/ There are a handful of better European Ibuki players… But anyway…
Every set-up there is based on the fact that Yun wants to do Up-kicks.

  1. Every Kunai that juggled him (into Raida) was unsafe.
  2. Half of these can be auto-corrected easily (Setup 7).
  3. In fact, I think… Every single one can be blocked the same way (or Yun can reset himself), apart from the ones that actually aren’t safe-jumps.
  4. Isn’t this what Mingo is talking about? Ibuki jumps every time, how is this helping your case?

Is his Gamertag RaGe Saunic?.. There are a few better Ibuki’s in Europe…

2-1ed Momochi. Uryo next.

As expected.

Ya what a phony, 2-0ed him again.

I went to go play Uryo and he switched out with Poongko and theline to play him got a million times bigger.

I have a question about the Kunai. How does it work? I have been in training sometimes I get a 5 hit combo (kunai > TC > neck breaker), but then sometimes I get a 4 hit combo (Kunai not coming out). I find the higher I throw it the more likely I am to get the hit, but I want to get better at instant air kunai over a body into a combo. Any suggestions or help with me consistently landing the kunai so there is enough stun to continue a combo

practice till it works.

Any timing or height that is better?
