Gief player who I now regard better than Aquasilk. Not to take anything away from Aquasilk, but Aquasilk is a very smart player that will put you in 50/50’s until you guess wrong and die. DJ Eric Darkside just plays incredibly solid sort of like Zangitan
I played like 50 games in a row with DJ Eric last week to learn a little something about Gief before my inevitable match with Flash Metroid last tournament. I’ve had him on my friends list for a while, he’s gotten so much better overall.
Just noticed a SRK front page article on NerdJosh. Is it just me, or do other people also cringe at the fact that this scrub (and a few others) once used to represent “top” Ibuki play? At least in the eyes of newcomers during the early SSF4 days.
I would like to know why you consider NerdJosh a scrub, lol. And I also remember when somebody (not sure who) made the same accusation against Helgen X in the early days of SSF4. And he politely never posted in this forum again. I’m guessing SF4 was your first game Mingo.
Cuz he’s not good at SF and never was? It’s not so much him being bad SF as it was people thinking he was good and that this was what good Ibuki play looked like at the time.
No idea wtf Helgen X is/was.
I’ve been playing games since I was like 2. If you mean playing games competitively, I’d invite you to play me in some of my other previous games.
Actually NerdJosh is pretty good in SF (great reactions and spacing) and a lot of other games. To be fair you can’t really judge Ibuki players from SSF4, we all were learning a brand new character. For example, Momochi’s Ibuki was horrible at the time.
Helgen X was/is a top 3rd strike player in NY until he moved back to Japan. That’s why I was laughing when I heard someone basically treat him like a scrub in this forum.
I’m pretty sure this has been discussed before considering how simple of a tactic it is, but I was thinking about how some shotos like to walk forward, walk back and then c.MK to counter hit a normal. Can’t Ibuki do the same? Her c.MK is pretty good, it lowers her profile, it’s active for a good amount of time, and it comes out pretty fast, but we all know the shitty thing is that we can’t cancel into anything off of it so all it turns into is a light tap at the ankles to kill momentum.
However, with AE, counter hit c.MK can link into the new, faster s.MK, right? So theoretically Ibuki could walk forward, walk back slightly, c.MK (possibly as a meaty on wakeup so we wouldn’t even need a counter hit to link) and then s.MK into whatever. Honestly, I’m not too sure about the viability of this in comparison to just using s.MK as a counterpoke, but the option is there. It’s 0 on block (says the SRK Wiki) but if you use it at the ideal range I bet it would be a perfect “frame trap” for a f+LK xx whatever. I use frame trap loosely because it’ll only really catch people hitting their go-to button for that distance, like a 5-frame c.MP or whatever. I doubt it’ll trap a crouch tech or anything, but again, at the ideal range, you might even be able to catch it once it whiffs.
All theory though. Probably not gonna try it at Devastation tomorrow. Any Ibukis here going? Hope to see you guys there.
Probably, but it’ll certainly be a lot harder because her walkspeed is awful.
counterhit cr.MK , st.MK realy only works point blank range, or really close. Same thing with cr.MK , f+LK.
If you wanted to do something like this, use cr.MP or st.MK instead. They don’t offer low hitbox but I don’t see how you’re ever going to get a knockdown like this at mid range without special cancellability or using sweep.
I’ve been winning tournaments in your home state since I was 14. I even saw you play live and was like wow this is the most mindless scrub I’ve ever met. Hold that shit. 4 isn’t even real street fighter.
Also this is why I don’t share stuff on forums, especially the ibuki because you’re all self entitled assholes. Stay losing scrubs.
RedCaliburn has a tournament tomorrow/today so I’ve been using my Xbox recently. That, and my Science books haven’t come yet (ffs). Just brushing up on my media work, which is too easy unfortunately.
I just don’t see anyone here playing 3S so I…
sorry, I won’t do it again.
