Looking for Love: Ibuki General Discussion Thread

Hay guise. So basically I got tired of using excel to calculate damage/stun of Ibuki’s combos, so I made (more like started) this calculator. I got the idea from the Sakura calculator from vanilla (which I can’t seem to find anymore). But I have no idea how to code excel (the original Sakura calculator was coded in excel), and being the nerd that I am, I went ahead and did it in Java. I would have done it in C or C++ but I have no idea how to integrate a C application into a webpage, and I definitely have no idea how to make a C gui (I usually do all of my input/output via CLI, but that wouldn’t be very intuitive for the non tech savvy people who are likely to use this application).

Anyways, here it is: http://ibuki.dyndns-ip.com/IbukiCalculator.html
It’s still a work in progress, and I’m still not sure how I should layout the buttons, or maybe I should start the gui over from scratch, so let me know what you think. As you see I still have a long way to go, as I spent most of my time on the gui instead of making the stuff scale correctly, etc. Also, making a button + inputting data for each move takes an absurd amount of time when there’s like 100 different moves, including normals, command normals, varying levels of specials, etc.

Edit: the calculator now consists of over 1000 lines of code. I included buttons for every move (though I think I’m missing a few), as well as set the damage, stun, and meter gain numbers. All of the buttons should work and add the correct damage/stun/meter accordingly, though it doesn’t take into account scaling yet. The only thing is that the target combos add correctly yet, and I need to figure out a way to get all different EX tsumuji possibilities. Let me know what you think so far.

Hey guys.

I’m thinking of picking up Ibuki, I main Sakura and have tried many other characters like Rose/Makoto/Chun and I seem to like Ibuki the most for my alt. So probaly should expect me around here a bit :stuck_out_tongue:

Welcome;)

Cool, since you main Sakura, can you tell us how to play vs her? I alt Sakura but I probably don’t know her as well as you do.

Our matchup thread is lacking the Sakura info.

Well I wouldn’t be the best person to give matchup information but I could say the following

Her fireball recovery is very slow so it’s an easy ex neckbreaker.
She has crappy wakeup so vortex would be easy on her I guess, if she tries to ex DP out for escape, neckbreaker.

It seems that Ibuki’s footsies are a bit average or below average so watch out for Sak’s cr.mk xx DP, Sakura works most of her magic off a knockdown. Up close, I think Sakura wins because her normals are faster.

But I could be wrong, I don’t really know Ibuki that much but those are the obvious ones but I’m sure you all know that already :stuck_out_tongue:

From previous experience’s, sakura can use Ultra 2 on wake-up during Ibuki’s vortex and still hit her. It looked like a really odd hitbox hit by that, but just be careful of that.
And yes; Sakura can beat Ibuki’s footsies by a long shot. Do not whiff normals when close by.

Sak’s tatsu’s can’t really be punished at all, since she gains frame advantage when hit on block. It really depends on the spacing, if you’re lucky, her EX tatsu would go over Ibuki, and you can get a free combo if you have enough reaction for it.

Oh yeah I forgot to mention

When you do EX DP with Ibuki and Sakura blocks it, DO NOT KUNAI, it’ll be a free U2 for Sakura.

I hope whatever information I gave helped but again I’m not great for giving information

Wow this is an excellent idea. I should def try this on the cr.MK xx shouo happy Sakura I play.

Kunai follow does not matter. Sakura can dash under any possible kunai and punish hard and true with a tatsu loop combo.

Edit: just noticed Izuna said the same thing.

Also, do you guys think it’s a good idea to get other people’s/character’s opinions on the Ibuki matchup? The original idea is from the Sakura forums, back in vanilla. I’d do it but I’m kind of lazy lol.

Hmm I never thought about dashing under the kunai.

I guess you learn something new everyday :stuck_out_tongue:

updating that shit to the match-up thread nowz.

That club level lags like hell when I’m playing Ibuki lol.

Online always lags like hell. That’s why I can never take online seriously.

Lags offline also, something to do with my Xbox lol. I usually don’t have a problem transitioning from online to offline. Only switch that bothers me to hell is 360 to PS3.

I have both 360 and PS3 and they both feel the same to me.

Maybe it’s because I used to play on Garena servers (WC3) and dedicated servers (CSS) that I’m accustomed to like 30-100ms of online delay. But even that, that’s already 2-8 frames of lag and more than enough to throw off your 1frame links, which are usually vital. Not only is there delay, but there’s retarded lag spikes you have to worry about…

Trust me, I’ve been hit with my fair share of lag switchers and whatnot. I barely even play ranked anymore cause everyone just online counter picks me and pulls when shits going bad lol.

I don’t think any link is strict enough in this game that it bothers me online. I do my fair share of offline tournaments and usually as long as the T.V. isn’t ancient or just real laggy, I can adjust right away. One thing that bothers the hell out of me is no sound though, and that’s all too common at tournaments.

Me and NV Niko are thinking about doing a (complete?) Ibuki guide via videos, similar to dj b13’s Cammy guide back in vanilla:

Anybody want to help out or have some ideas how to organize it, what stuff to include, how to go about making it, etc.?

Bought a domain name with Godaddy’s $1 sale, so no need to remember the awkward dyndns url: http://ibukicalculator7.com/IbukiCalculator.html

I should really learn what target combos are what lol.
