Long Island Fight Club

well for gg and mb i can bring at least 4 myself…yeah not alot of people play mb here on li…i useally go for mb and gg tourns in the city… i dont mind playing casuals…just need someone to bring a tv though

:wow: Whoa did I ever misread your post. I thought you were bringing a TV.

Well, if all else fails… I have an extra but really small TV to bring. I wouldn’t dare consider using it for a tourney (unless you guys really don’t mind), but it’ll do for casuals.

I’ve heard a bit about Melty Blood and I’ve been itching to try it. If I had the money for a JPS2, I’d definitely try getting into it as long as I can find one char I like. (this is actually often a problem when I try to get into a new 2D fighter. Almost stopped me from getting into 3s.) Although honestly I’m more interested in getting into Arcana Hearts. But that hasn’t come out on a console yet, right?

Well, anyways… Alrighty people, I want to start getting details about how the tournament should be run for each game. 3 or 5 max rounds? Best 2 of 3 games? Double Elimination? Banned things? (3s Chun-Li SA II?)

And hey, bglaugher, do you mind bringing in your PS3 for the VF5 tourney? As usual, people are ignoring me on TekkenZaibatsu despite me busting my ass trying to get a tourney organized. I may very well can the DR tourney and just run VF5, SC2, and SC3. And if there are enough Bloody Roar fans, I could always add Bloody Roar 3 as well.

so is the 3s date for the tourny deff cause i got like 3 friends and me that wana go?

I am still waiting to talk with the manager, Lance.* There’s no reason he should not greenlight the tourney and my proposed day for it. The only thing that could change is the time.

*Any day now. I will be picking up my check over the weekend, so that would be the latest we’ll have to wait to know.

did you guys really ban chuns saII for the tourn

you cla your from selden thats where im from!!! ok update cla i might have a tv to go for mb and gg…so if you want ill run the gg and mb tourns… would that be ok?

Im positive Lance wont have any problem with you running the tourney there. He wants things like that to happen. Quite frankly, so do I. Its been years since I had a regular place to play that wasnt my in my garage or on my couch.

Like I said before, I have a TV I can bring, and my modded dreamcast too, if I can find the thing. I’ll see if I can pick up some controller converters on the cheap if no one has any.

I sure don’t have anything Dreamcast. And I don’t know anyone who does. Well, whatever you can bring, we’ll tweak the plans accordingly.

As long as enough people will show up for the tourneys and we have the equipment, sure there should be no problem.

I don’t know. I’ve just heard that some people do ban it. (especially in Japan) I don’t mind either way.

My char actually is Chun-Li with SAII. But I have no problem playing with SAI or even SAIII if people feel that SAII is too powerful. (I myself honestly do think it is too powerful. But not that I’m not gonna use it when I have the chance. )

hey my s/n is Sion Atlasia lets talk via aim…and yes im the same chun saII its not to powerful if you miss or blocked your still screwed

I don’t have AIM. But I have MSN.

So just where are you in Selden anyway? We could be next door neighbors for all we know. I live very close to that batting cages+go-kart place. (Ballpark At Selden. Which happens to be my 2nd job.)

But it’s easy to avoid whiffing or having your SAII blocked because it is extremely easy to cancel from her crouching M. Kick.

You can actually perform the crouch M. Kick, watch to see if it connects or is blocked, and then perform SAII if you notice it connected. (there’s a very simple buffer trick you can do)

So basically, landing SAII is as easy as landing crouch M. Kick.

And then there’s the extra damage you can get from Super Jump Cancelling the last hit…

But if you happen to get stupid and miss with it… yes, you will be pwned hard. :looney:

So let’s take a look at the tourney status so far. Considering the games and TVs currently available…Marvel Vs Capcom 2 on Arcade
Capcom Vs SNK 2 on Arcade
Melty Blood on Shiki’s JPS2 and TV
Guilty Gear XX Slash on Shiki’s JPS2 and TV
3rd Strike on bglaugher’s PS2 and my TV
Killer Instinct on Arcade if there’s enough interest
Adam’s unused standard Dreamcast
Adam’s unused modded Dreamcast
2 unused TVs (Adam’s and my extra uber-small TV)
1 unused PS2 of mine that can read only PS1 and blue-bottom PS2 discs
1 unused Xbox of mine with 2 PS controller convertorsWhat else are people offering to bring? (Not that everything offered will be used. I just want to know what’s available.)

Does anyone have another JPS2 so MB and GG can run at the same time?

Adam, what games do you have for Dreamcast anyway?

I just remembered that I have Samurai Shodown V on Xbox. Would there be enough interest in that? (no guarentee that they’ll be a free TV for it though)

i wont mind bringing my ps3 for a vf tourny
btw that a long list of game u should rly cut it down i say just put stuff u see at evo but w/e def 3s is the main attraction i think but cant wait to play CvS2 im gona get schooled lol

EDIT:cant go wrong with evo rules aswell

i live by south bike …damn ssv!!! i have sam sho tenka for jps2 as well…im down for sam show but havent play ssv in so long… now how is the setup goin to be are the tvs goin to be on tables?

Hmm… I’m not sure I know South Bike. I don’t remember the name, but I know a bike shop next to a GameCrazy.

Castle Golf has an area with a bunch of food tables, but they don’t sell food anymore. Yes, we’ll be putting the TVs on said tables. This also means there is a lot of seating.

Cool. Thanks a bunch. :china: Then let’s plan for a VF5 tourney on April 29th. Or if I can’t get another PS3 for some DR action, then maybe the VF5 can be on April 22nd as well.

Nothing wrong with too many games. It’s not like you have to play them all. The idea is lots of options.

It’ll also make the post-tourney casuals 20x more fun that they’ll lots of more games than the usual tourney to play.

Yeah. That would make sense, wouldn’t it?

Oh by the way, does anyone have any video cameras they can bring? I might be able to get a hold of one.

its over by mooney pond road…i know where the golf cart place is…and thats not far at all mmaybe 5 mins away…im kenny by the way

Oy, Kenny. Wow, you’re not that far at all. We should definitely hang out sometime soon.

For 3s players, a couple of guys are going to the arcade in South Shore Mall tonight (from 6 to 9:30 they say) to play. Unfortunately for me, I don’t get my paycheck till the weekend, so I won’t be joining. But lots of good practce for those who go. They’ll probably play DR as well.

This stuff is looking awesome people GUILTY GEAR!!!

Cla: SSV huh? I haven’t played that in a long time but I’d love to see how good My Kusaregedo can be against new people.

Exciting!!!

-a.

I warn you, I’m a Mina player. But I know she pisses a lot of people off. If that is the case, I know Nakaruru as well.

I definitely would be up for some SSV casuals. Do you mind brining your Xbox? I want to keep mine available for a game that’s in the tourney. Or rather, I’d would like to avoid bringing mine period because it’s not exactly public-friendly. (note that this pic is nearly 2 years old, but my Xbox is just as T&Atastic.)

Kenny, you should bring Tenka as well cause I’d definitely like to try it.

By the way, can someone tryout these links for me: http://ourworld.cs.com/_fm/mt.ssp?a=b

(all these links lead to the same page)It’s worked fine for years and now all of a sudden I get “You are not athorized to view”.

EVERYBODY LISTEN UP!!! THE TOURNAMENT IS OFFICIAL!!!

However, the day and time has changed:

April 21st at 2PM

Lance just wants me to finalize all the details on just how we are going to do this. So let’s finish up the details.

We are still figuring out the games, of course. Is my suggested pricing OK with you guys?

$15 for your first game. ($10 goes to the pot, $5 goes to Castle Golf)
$10 for all games after. ($8 goes to the pot, $2 goes to Castle Golf)

He is willing to turn on Free Play or just give out tokens for free for games played on the Arcade machines.

So, what else do we need to think about?..

By the way, Lance is very interested in having regular tourneys.

I can’t make it. That satiurday ill be in Jersey supporting my friend who drag races.

oh well. good luck all.
