London Thread 2012

You guys should goto that, I bet a lot of the people there won’t know about SRK or this group.

I realized this was a great article when even I started to feel like a wimp by the third paragraph.

If you want. I have to pass by my place to grab a stick and I will show there. I guess casuals at my place after?

They also don’t know fighters either
COOL FACE

But seriously, me/joe/alvin/ryan go to their things when we have chance and always top charts lol

Leaving now

I figure you guys will be done by the time I get out of class at 6, so I’ll show up for casuals at 6:30-7.
The IPW article is really good. Motivation is tough to get for a game, but I find mine in the fact I’ll be travelling to Montreal and a couple others EVO majors and I want to beat top US players and win some money.
I’d love if some London players consistently beat me up in Marvel, but not much has changed in the year I’ve been here. So my goals at a local level are:

  • Permanent Venue open 4-11, one or two times a week.
  • Local Tournament in April/May (London Fight Fest 2!)
  • Easy for a Londoner to find us through Youtube, SRK or FB.
  • Basically more players. There’s gotta be more than one Asian playing marvel!!

After 7 at my place is good.

ur back!

Nothing really ever changes skill wise in SF because skill stems from mentality, and mentality is really hard to change…the only way to really force motivation is to play for money, but if I ask you guys to play for money tonight, I bet nothing will happen.

A steady venue is good to have, but again, it won’t really change anything. London Fight Fest is also nice and all, but after it’s over…nothing will have changed.

More exposure = good, but it basically comes down to luck. London was lucky that players like you and Monney joined the scene, but the scene didn’t make you. You guys had the right mentality from the start…not to say practice doesn’t help, it obv does, but if you don’t have that fire in the belly, you’re skating uphill…

Mmm SCV :D. Loving Ezio. Sieg plays pretty much exactly the same too, just slower. Ryan Cuba feels very diff from kilik :(.

Lol Cuba. I noticed the same thing though. Kilik is actually in the game (hidden), but he’s a mimic character now so there’s no true replacement for him. There’s still no Talim :frowning:

I think I’m going to stick with Leixia for a while.

MY GOD LMAO Mihai hilarious post on the fossil. I was thinking the same with Josh. Nice to see you can still post dude! Hope things are going well.

RESULTS from the charity team tournament:

Me first
Ben second

10 dollar profit for each of us

lol cuba. i meant xiba. stupid iphone autocorrect. yeh kilik was the first thing i unlocked, u know what i meant tho. messed around with xiba a bit more though, he’s got more or less the same tools, just executed slightly differently.

The main difference I noticed was that SC2 Kilik had 2 long range pokes with :b:+B (slower, longer range and better knockback) and :f:+B (faster, less range and doesn’t knockdown) but Xiba only has the :b:+B and it’s a bit of a compromise between the two…unless the fast poke is executed differently now.

Good stuff Drew and Ben.

From my relatively low amount of time playing SCV, I found the following:

  1. All my characters that I had comfort with (Cerv, Taki/Natsu/BOOBY NINJA, Mitsu, Astaroth) all seem to have a lower “Ease of use rating” then most of the newer ones.
  2. Definitely faster paced, brave/crit edge moves can hurt.
  3. Ukemi/Just Guard is stupidly important. :expressionless:

Viola seems to be the most enjoyable challenge to pick up for me so far…

Let’s not even give any legitimacy to my 2nd place. I only had to play one match, and my Ghost Rider was…effective. Do you know how disturbing that is for me to say? Badly. :expressionless:

So I know the typical button layout for SC5 is supposed to be
A B K
G

Which is why the SC5 sticks have different button mappings, but I’m actually liking the
A B
G K

layout on the SF4 TE stick default. Is there any legitimate reason for not using that layout?

Yeah I’m not dead yet.

After playing on Unessential’s ST board the other week, I’ve started to get the itch again. Still nothing like ST I tell ya.

Things are going well for me so far with my apprenticeship. I might either be moving closer to the GTA or somewhere else in Canada soon to get more experience and hours. Hopefully somewhere near the GTA but I wouldn’t get my hopes up.

I hope things are going well for you in the land of the rising sun.

I also really enjoying SC5, playing online is actually really fun because the netcode is amazing. It’s also way faster than SCIV was.

ew nobody uses stick for SC. go pad

Actually from what I’ve been reading it seems to be about a 50/50 split. I’m convinced it’s entirely a comfort thing at this point.
