Since I fail to make every Thursday session >_>, I’m thinking about hosting sometime next week for SC5 and anything else people wanna play.
I’m in the Westmount area, near Viscount and Notre Dame. Not sure how far that is for everybody, but if it works out I’d be willing to organize something.

You must be the only one who didn’t already know this somehow. Also I drove Tin Man to the tourney; not like it’s a surprise you heard what was going on. I planned to go to this months before Smash Up was even announced. Plus we had 10 American players, a few Alberta players, and I think 4 Nova Scotia players - more hype than 32 man local tourneys.
Also Joe & Alvin: How was top 4 RDK, Rebelo, Jing, and Rikir? You are both better than everyone in that list not named RDK. You are dead to me.

Also I forgot the most important part of yesterday. The venue had alcohol.
This should be a tournament standard. Along with air conditioning in the summer and, at all times, high volume air circulation to address any olfactory issues that could be present. I guess open flames could address this too, but I know that could be disastrous in many ways…
We could go with Alvin’s idea of Friday at this point, depending on who wants to show up for what. I think SCV would be the focus, but we can bring along everything else to play. Depends on how much room you have to host us as well.
Too bad we couldn’t make it to Smash Up. I think I would have placed very high, I’ve beaten Quan, Joker and RDK in Ultimate tournie/mm already. Next Drekken tournament hopefully.
SCV looks pretty sick, I haven’t touched it yet but what I’ve read sounds cool. I’ll try to free up Friday as well.

Yea I’ll be there this week. I need to learn SoulCal but I imagine I’m going to feel like what Ben feels like when he plays Joe in Marvel…If Ben were on acid.
soul cal isnt too bad to learn. the hardest part for me when learning competitive SC was learning the movement you gotta do when playing a human player. best way for me to learn that was to play people who’d destroy me, and try to imitate when they’d do evasive movements (side step, back out, crouch) and what to do out of them (attack or guard). figuring out what to do out of them helps a lot for figuring out your own play-style and when you should use certain tools.
The hardest part for soul cal for me is how many moves you have at your disposal. That and just the general flow of combat is very weird when you have two players who know what they are doing.
