London Thread 2012

ur dead to me

Day 2 observations:
-game is trying to bring the random factor into SF and succeeding, just went through a bunch of the Tekken characters for a couple of hours. They’re all ass imo cept for Wesley Snipes who is only cool cause he plays like a SF character. They all have some BS overhead which I’m sure combos into some long ass combo, which leads me to:
-combos. They’re trying to do it up Marvel style and succeeding with the long ass damaging combos. It’s too hard to actually work for your win, so just combo instead off some random guess. Sweet! Even Wesley Snipes has random high/low mixups. And I’m sure they lead to more damage.
-Tekken characters are ass. 3D games suck balls cause they have too many moves which eliminates strategy and mindgames. Wesley Snipes should leave Tekken and come to SF.
-tag system is stupid as all hell and does not belong in a SF game
-I hate the game less today than I did last night, but it’s to be expected. I have noticed this pattern for SF4 and all its incarnations, MVC3, and now SFXT. My brain immediately recognizes what a horrible game it is, then the more I play the more I become accustomed to its shittiness. I’m sure in a few days I’ll think it’s good.

EDIT: Corry, forget what I said about Bison. Check out this thread: M.Bison Frame Data If the info, short SK is -2 on block and c. short has a 4 frame start up lmfao pathetic

But that’s were your wrong at its not just a street fighter game, its a street fighter and tekken game put together.

And Virtua Fighter owns your ass

um no have you ever played Tekken? SFXT is just a shitty SF game with Tekken characters. And I bet you don’t know how to play VF nt on trying to sound skillful though.

Disclaimer: I don’t hate 3D games, I respect Tekken/VF/etc., but SF should not be mixed with 3D games…the end result is a cluster fuck of traditional 2D game mechanics and half-assed 3D game mechanics.

I know its takes some skill to play and no I’m not very skillful it it, but for you to say something as this"Tekken characters are ass. 3D games suck balls cause they have too many moves which eliminates strategy and mindgames. Its just fucking stupid

I have to admit Mihai, I do love Virtua Fighter, Tekken is ass though.

I think SFXT is a pretty good game. I’m already at 1600 BP points in 3 days. Only thing about this game that it’s really jittery. The music stop everytime you hit someone online and the moves don’t connect correctly even if there is no lag. They should bring an update in the next month or so or even sooner if they can. This is still an awesome game and it’s a dream for everyone but it needs to be fixed a bit more and also have more boards to fight in besides these ones right now. Oh well can’t be picky right now.:rofl: Awesome game nonetheless. Capcom fix this ASAP!! See ya.

too many moves that eliminate strategy? how can you say that worse off then AE with dumb shit like seth, or the ibuki vortex, or yun/yang/cammy rufus…fuck footsies im just gonna divekick ur shit everytime u do something…oh you got knocked down, guess this 50/50. Hell with ibuki ive made 95% comebacks simply because the kunai vortex is beyond dumb and having unblockables on half the cast is a joke. Id rather have this semi scrubby game then bother dealing with that autopilot nonsense.

I hope one day, the world just goes back to playing ST/3S/Alpha2/3/CVS2/Marvel2/ and arcades come back, Wizards at Masonville and downtown. And SRK will go back to being a mean cool place again. And there are no retarded reality shows and 20 documentaries that come out a month on fighting games. And there will be no retarded lingo like “Hype” and “yo dat fool is Free” and other obnoxious white and asian dudes pretending to be gangsta over a video game. Then people will be happy again.

I agree with you dude, but you’re going on the assumption that this game won’t be even more BS. I can already feel its lameness…

As for too many moves hurting strategy/mindgames, I say this because the more “options” the other character has, the less you’re able to anticipate/predict what’s coming. The less anticipation there is in a game, the fewer the mindgames, and the more randomness comes into play. This is the reason I like Raven and ONLY Raven. He has fewer moves, they all seem useful (read: have a clear purpose) and so they make sense in a SF game.

Chris, ur sig is top tier.

Heihachi J HK into high/low pressure strings? I can live with that. Rolento? Damn you Alvin for showing how simply broken he can be. :expressionless:

As for SCV, apparently I need to change my mindset as to how I am approaching it especially with Cerv so I can keep more consistent pressure going to make sure I get better chances for mixups (and not so obvious ones). I need more tortuous grinding with your evil Asian tech Alvin.

Aside from my current issues with Rolento (and somewhat wondering why Bison’s charge time is so long…), so far this is does feel more balanced/fair compared to IV.

SSF4-AE2012 are prolly the most balanced SF games ever made…

this game will never be as bs and i will tell you why, forward roll. Completely safe and invincible means i dont lose the game for getting knocked down once and put into endless 50/50s. Yes i think its kind of scrubby as it gets you out of everything, but if predicted some decent oki can be had and just leads to more conditioning of the opponent etc.

One weakness I noticed about the tech roll is that if the opponent positions himself back a bit in anticipation of the roll, they can create some SUPER dirty ambiguous crossups (ie. Mishimas).

Sagat,yun,seth,viper.

ST: O.Sagat, Sim, Vega, Rog
A3: V-Akuma, Sim
3S: Chun, Yun
CVS2: A-Blanka/Bison/Sak/Vega

SF4 top-tier are mild by comparison. And plus, it’s not just the top-tier that make a game balanced, it’s the spread between the entire cast. In the new games, pretty much every character has a chance because of their design and because of the ez mode game mechanics. But try using low tier in the old games. You will rip your hair out in frustration.

Alvin that guide is GDLK. I just found out Bison’s s. short is not only a 3 frame move, but it’s also +3!!! on block! Chris, you will love walkup shorts even more now haha

SF2 had some pretty good character diversity.T hawk players have won tournaments and for the moat part everyone in the cast had a legitimate shot at winning a tournament. In SF4 I don’t really see this being possible with the mid/low tiers. Gouken, hakan or dan will never place high in any major tournament and so far only characters within the top/high bracket have placed at majors. I suppose sf4 does deserve some credit in having a large mid tier roster…so that’s a step up from 3s I suppose.

yup, super balanced. Most top players use top tiers, I’m not trying to surprise anyone by linking to these results, but trying to romanticize a game by saying everyone has a chance, especially in a brutal game like ST is straight up lying.

But hawk players have won Japanese majors and we have get to see a gouken or even a vega win in sf4. SF4 has limits on who is viable and for the most part it’s very restrictive on anyone in the mid/low bracket. The only sf game I can recall that had almost perfect balance was HSF2 if I recall.

Your logic is flawed. You said everyone has a chance in SF2 yet the results at the highest level prove otherwise. Now you’re saying ST is more balanced because a super gimmicky character that can eliminate you for free once he gets in has won at a high level? You are aware of what Hawk can do, right? He can OS his j. jab into his DP, which makes you block. Then he tick grabs into OS SPD which has no whiff throw animation, resulting in death. I don’t doubt that Hawk can win but using this as the basis of your argument is like me saying the SF4 series is balanced because Sim has won majors (Arturo and Filipino Champ). The argument doesn’t make any sense.

What matters is results. I don’t care to dig deep and list character diversity in major events like EVO for ST and SF4, but if you played ST, you’d know that winning with low tier is far easier in SF4.
