I admit that it lagged on some hyper combos but it doesn’t lag on my TV or Meljin’s setup. You didn’t look but when you were playing Chris I went and watched and it was a lot smoother.
On top of that, it’s not like MVC3 is a game that is heavy on 1 frame stuff. There is a giant window for inputs when it comes to combos. Especially for the big guys like hulk and sentinel, they have like 100 frames where you can press the button. I am pretty sure Hulk has time to taunt before doing OTG gamma wave lol.
This isn’t SSF4 or even worse street fighter 2 where you have one frame to do your thing.
Drew: It is now 12:00 Monday. Did you complete the bioshock challenge? From the sounds of it yesterday I think not. This will teach you and Chris to stick your noses up at NEW GAMES. They can be a lot better than old ones. And if you say that battletoads is better than bioshock (by 2011 standards) then you need to get your head checked.
Amount of time does not constitute what a hard game is. It is the actual achievement of beating the game. What if there was a game that took a week to beat it 100%, but it was really easy. However you could play Battletoads all week, but the eventual completion of the game may take only an hour and a half. Battletoads is still a harder game, it is just the easy game consumed more time. Bioshock still may be an easy game by old standards, but just needs time to finish, where Drew can beat megaman 6 in 36 minutes, Megaman is still a harder game. It took Drew a week of play to beat battletoads through trial and error, dying and starting over again. Drew may have yet to die in bioshock, or he may have finished the game. But still you only gave him a weekend.
It came down to what the trophies were, 2 of the ones that made me stop playing today being
Finish the game on Hard
Finish the game on Survivor (Super-Hard)
HIDDEN TROPHY
There’s no new game +, meaning I would have to play this game 3 times FROM SCRATCH. Each playthrough being longer due to difficutly of enemies and my equipment. By human standard (sleep and eating) its not possible in 3 days (2 really since I was busy all friDAY) however I AM timing myself and have literally put about 24 hours into this game.
Thurs: 3 hours
Fri: 4 hours
Sat: 13 hours
Sun: 2 hours.
If your checking from PSN it says I have 50% achievements but that’s including the DLC challenges. Just from the basic game I calculated I have 79% done and currently working on Survivor mode.
For a GAME, ya this game is amazing compared to Battletoads. But difficulty wise (speaking from normal lvl) it’s rather easy (ask Chris lol as he watched me headshot almost every enemy and hack machines in a matter of seconds lol).
Once I 100% this game (with my timing idea) I’ll do the DLC which apparently gives me a New Game + option as well (but disables trophies) and I’ll speed run it for ya no prob. Then I’ll do Bioshock 2 for ya since I want to play it NOW lol.
Also in regards to the tv, ur making fun of the loading of character skins Alvin? Maybe Chris hasn’t installed it to his PS3. I honestly find your “this tv lags” statement a lie or exaggerated also
it’s not a LCD
we’ve never had “lag” issues with it before (even with more input based games)
lol workin so hard to defend the ps3. i saw meljin’s setup too and no lag on that. i just want to make sure more ppl saw it. and i wasnt talking about hulk, he’s unblockable with inconsistent lag, i love it. + i dont have the game installed on my xbox either, still loads much faster. new rf adapter isnt just an attempt to make it lag less, the new ones are compatible w/ 360, that’s the main reason i wanna get it. i’d expand more on the lag stuff but it’s like telling bieber fans that he’s a terrible musician. why do you people keep assuming it’s input lag i’m talking about? my first post about it mentions particle effects. i said out loud several times that day that my execution was terrible.
bruce, i’m thinkin magneto, old haggar, and arthur for my moaning team. arthur’s not old, but he sounds like the sounds i make anyway when he gets hit/dies.
Alvin, I know what you are talking about. I feel it too between the two tvs. When I went from space command to ben’s set up, I had certain timing issues as well. It is not a big things, but it can be enough to throw your timing off.
Considering that the game is targeted to run at 60FPS (though neither build fully does on average), both systems have to interlace down to 480i when using SDTV’s. I would imagine that that would change your timing to an extent, but sometimes it is just OK to say “I was not having a good day” as well. I don’t think an RF will make enough of a difference to warrant spending any money Alvin.
Headshot’s are ruining video games. Jeff Gerstman and Cliffy B (From Epic) have been saying this for a while. Bulletstorm actually delivered pretty good in that you can’t just run around like a retard getting headshots.
Haha Chris battletoads is friggin gay. Back in the old days they didn’t have graphics, or more than 32mb of memory to work with. So the only way to make games last was to make them insanely hard. Back in those days though there was nothing else and as bored kids we had nothing better to do so we took it.
But now games are actually fun. And bioshock IS hard. I remember spending like 2 hours trying to hack this one friggin safe with the pipe game. Yea it took forever and was a waste of time but it was rewarding. And that is just 1 small part of the game.
The vending machine hacking minigame is already better than 80% of NES games. We all love the old times but come on now.
Drew just for the record, I would have given a new, sealed collector’s edition of bioshock 2 if you completed the challenge on time. But in light of your recent failures you get a used regular edition. Also you get no recognition as the gaming hero. Only 2 hours on Sunday? Pathetic. And you only finished the game once on Normal mode? You do realize that there is a trophy for beating the game in Survivor mode without using a vita chamber, right? One slip against a big daddy and it’s over (luckily you can save your game though unlike the bullshit games of old).
Next time, I’ll offer the challenge to your little sister she seemed pretty good at shooters on the PS3.
Also Do you guys play games every weekend? Why wasn’t I invited to this bioshock event even though I sponsored it?!?!?!?!?!?
Chris and Matt came over for maybe an hour to see the game that’s all.
Yes I knew every trophy on there I saw them all before starting, in my previous msg that you quote you can see I posted that trophy. I wasn’t going to go straight to Survivor mode since that’d slow me down greatly with insane damage and lack of health. Playing it the 2nd time sure, since I now know game mechanics and all. Sunday I was playing Survivor and discovered something I didn’t do on normal, so i went back to my last file to do it and the
PROBLEM is that it auto-saves on your most recent save file lol
So my Survivor file was over-written so I was like “FUCK”. But even then, SURVIVOR mode with no new game + makes it a rather long game. If there was New Game+ I could’ve done it easily, but realizing there wasnt one and it was Sunday 11am I couldn’t play through the entire game FROM SCRATCH on Survivor. If I went to Survivor the first time It’d slow me down even more since I wouldn’t have a clue what I was doing lol.
With sleep and eating no I couldn’t do it, but based on actual hours of game play I know I can do this in under 72 hours lol. Even if you ignore this I’m still going to do it to prove it to myself lol.
DAWN OF THE SECOND DAY
48 HOURS REMAIN
If you want you can challenge me on 2 or just wait for speedrun weekend lol. I’ll speedrun them both for ya in 1 weekend lol New Game + or not lol
LMAO haha no we were on the way home and i decided to stop by for an hour to check what was up. Of course we would invite you if it was a big event. I’ll edit more of this to state my opinion on the gaming matter stuff, I just don’t feel like typing a long bit right at this moment, so I’ll do it later. Or maybe not depending on how I feel.
OK well since you seem determined and are man enough to admit that bioshock is more than a match for the 16 bit games of the past, I will issue you a new challenge.
To be able to speedrun bioshock 2 in 1 day this coming weekend. To be honest that’s really what I wanted to see anyways, since bioshock 1 is still relatively fresh in my memory. I can give you a copy (the used one, not the shiny new CE) anytime, although I’m not willing to drive it all the way to Komoka. If you’re ever coming down to attend class I can pass it to you there.
However, I am not sure if the rest of the Londoners (stephan, chris, matt) care about bioshock. If they do, it seems unfair to them to just speedrun bioshock 2 w/o #1. In which case, I give you challenge B: Speedrun both bioshock 1 AND bioshock 2 on the weekend of March 19th-20th (weekend after this one) in the ultimate bioshock speedrun showdown weekend. This way everyone can witness the greatness that is bioshock and there is 2 weeks to plan it.
The prize for either challenge is the same as before. Factory sealed copy of bioshock 2 (for the PS3).
Both sound interesting, if the guys want I’ll do both. I prefer an audience lol.
now do you mean for me to speedrun 2 ON MY FIRST attempt? Or mean give me that one copy to practice on? If the guys are up for it I’ll do both but we need to figure out sleeping for me lol, 2 straight games in just 2 days would be over kill on my mind, unles swe include Friday night or if that’s too much time to allow me.
Also, New Game + allowed or what? lol. I need more rules/what I’m allowed to do lol.
New game + is allowed but skipping cinematics is not.
I am starting to realize though that it will be hard to get everyone together for it (that is even if they are up for it). Chris works every weekend and Stephan is doing projects. The rest of the people don’t give 2 shits about non-fighting games or I haven’t seen them. Resident evil day may have been a one time thing since people in London seem to be so busy all the time.
I honestly just want to see bioshock 2 beaten in a day. It doesn’t even have to be a speedrun. If you think you can beat it in one day (~10 hrs) on your first try I’ll bring over the CE this weekend. It’ll be more fun that way I think and people can either come or they can stay at home. As long as I see bioshock 2 beaten this weekend I’m happy.
I couldnt skip a single cinematic in 1, tried on Survivor lol. I mean one day as in 24 hours, but I def could finish it in one weekend. Ask others and see what they think
drew, uwo students currently hold world record for gaming for 40 hours straight, did it for some cancer research thing. i can see you breaking that one easy. you should do it up
