Games trash. League of Legends is run by a bunch of jokers (Trust me, i was at the dota roundtable that pendragon threw… general consensus? The food was good.)
Play Heroes of Newerth if you want a game that is going places and has true competitive potential and great developers. These guys create the game from the ground up to be a tournament game, and although there is casual appeal (plenty of it, DotA is the second most played game on the PLANET) the game is geared to be played at the highest level. Currently there is a closed beta running (getting a key is really easy) and a soon to be open beta. If you liked DotA or just like competitive games in general, this is the game to play. http://www.HeroesOfNewerth.com is the site with more information. I have a few beta keys left if people want them PM me and I’ll see what I can do.
Edit: Be patient when you play this… the community isn’t very newb friendly but I taught a friend who had never played any AoS (dota, aeon of strife, etc) type games before and he learned how to at least play a little above public game level in about a week. Play with friends who know how to play and you will learn quickly. Again, PM me and if I know you I’ll let some people into my games.
hmmm
I dont know which game is better but I can say that LoL has a lot of good stuff that HoN dosent
I feel that LoL is a lot more accessible and is more dynamic in general is a more noob friendly game that does not require you to have played DOTA at all, all of the game info is right there in the game
Sometimes on endgame (read: late 5v5 battles) in HoN there can be so much shit going on that you can get lost
what I like about LoL
graphics are well defined, Heroes stand out from the environment, its clear to see what the fuck is going on at any given time
Slower paced games gives more time to react and defend to enemy attacks, in HoN like in DOTA if you can get raped in a matter of seconds (less than one second in some cases)
The item store in LoL is EXCELLENT every DOTA like game should be like this, it is accessible, noob friendly, and allows fast browsing because of a well thought out categorization of items
Secondary spells brings more dynamism to the game
HoN tends to slow down at some points
Intelligence heroes spells scale pretty well on endgame with proper items
but in the end I think HoN is the better game because:
Graphics wise HoN graphics are second to none (yes Im a graphics whore)
HoN heroes are more fun to play
It plays a lot like DOTA
Map in LoL gives the impression of being relatively small this doesn’t happen in HoN
It’s all boils down to preference really. I have friends that have played DotA for a long time that when they tried LoL, they couldn’t go back to playing DotA/HoN. Then others that would immediately back to DotA/HoN.
Both games are unique in their own respect and I appreciate your open-mindedness. Unlike that agcalonico asshat.
I’m just gonna say that I love this genre.
Even though… I CONSISTENTLY get put on a shitty team in LoL that doesn’t even attempt to communicate. I’ve been delegated to solo as Amumu and even Ryze before… As much as I tried to tell them it was retarded, they didn’t even respond. So terrible.
My IGN is MoeRapples. Add me as a friend. Please…
Kinda reviving a dead thread but oh well.
Add me, I’ve got quite a few people I play with regularly and we can always use more.
LoL name = Porr
Play me
Name is Rose Magician.
I suck now, new.
Mundo mundo.
Mundo mundo mundo cleaver mundo mundo.
edit: why is mundo’s difficulty meter near max, he is so damn easy to play
jax is way too fun to play
I just started playing again. Had been playing the beta for awhile, but I didn’t like getting reset multiple times and having to deal with this slow level up system… but I’m back again anyways lol. Level 8 now, but life would be easier with some good players to jump on for some premades.
Siky ingame. I used to purely main Warwick, but I’ve learned to expand a bit, now I’m climbing through the ranks with Kayle, Annie and aiming to unlock Cho’Gath next for high ELO play. Feel free to add me if you need someone for a premade. I’m experienced, at mid level ELO games, but I have to make mention that I will not be working on my Rune book until level 20 and getting some premade wins would help me get there sooner =D
I’ve been playing again, just added everyone from the list. It had been a while but I’m pretty much back into it now that my net is working fine.
I’m on every night. I honestly play LoL more than I do fighters.

Well, I’ve played league of legends so far for a month, and I must say its my new crack. I quit raiding in a high end WoW guild just to get my fix. Anyway, the heroes I found I enjoy and reasons why (forgive inaccurate terminology):
Rammuis the turtle tank!: That spin ball he does definitely puts people on edge, adding a psychological element to things, great for chasing people down. The taunt works as a good interrupt stopping people like the damn yeti from casting his ultimate, just 1 or 2 points into armor skin early on really helps, and his ultimate, while nothing crazy, really synergizes with the rest of the things he can do, and the cool down on it comes back fast enough that you can use it to farm large groups of mobs until you get the aoe damage cloak. Definitely a top tier tank. In a fight where I went against a nice mix of casters, by the end of it I had 1 set of mercurial boots, 3 funfire cloaks, 1 guardian angel, and one resist a spell every 30 second thing. He can go toe to toe with almost anyone too, including teemo if he gets in teemo’s face fast enough. It might be nub, but I get him clarity + either blink or teleport
Nassus the big egyptian jackal thing: He’s a great early farmer and is one of the few heroes I have no issues soloing mid with early on, his innate ability being lifesteal, which stacks on additional lifesteal you get. And his ability to cast one spell instantly to do extra damage to an opponent is beast late game if you’re good at last hitting.
Teemo the hamster: Learn to use this guy’s mushrooms properly, and he’s almost unstoppable 1 on 1, as well as devastating enemies in group fights unless they all try to jump him first (which can happen quite a bit), a lot of people prefer the rat but I really like teemo better
Shaco: This guy wrecks your shit, in my opinion one of the best, if not the best assassin-based DPS character in the game
add me up blazeu25. i played dota since it got released. touched lol and i neevr went back. im not lvl 30.
im popdogg on league and dota
Add me, KillerXtreme on there as well…
