LoL (League of Legends) thread *UPDATED 12/10/2009*

How are you guys feeling the rune changes?

Karma is really good in some team combinations.

Karma, Shen, Udyr got me a 25 minute surrender because we’d keep throwing shields on Udyr during team fights and he’d keep the team stun locked while our other dmg went to work taking out carries.

Karma, Shen, Renekton did the same thing. A Renekton that can just stay in the middle of a fight is godlike.

Karma and Garen is also a really infuriating lane combo. I really hate tower di-DEMACIAAAAAAAAAA.

Really liking Renekton now that I’ve had a chance to play him and not just watch him be played. He’s definitely a buy for me if I ever get enough IP. If I could find a way to jungle with him and not have to B repeatedly he’d be even better.

hmm interesting, I’ll see how more karma’s play out. The biggest blow to her IMO was when I premade with one, and the guy who played her always plays support(his mains are janna and sona), and still did terrible.

Lol. Tbh I never look at numbers or any of that so I haven’t really noticed much. I just play the game.

If the person I’m attacking isn’t dying I buy more damage until they do die.

Bought cass. She’s pretty fun just need to work on my build for her.

I keep reading threads on the LoL forums about how one should theoritically be able to carry themselves out of ELO Hell regardless of their team… but is this true? Sure, a lot of top players confirm it but there are times where it feels as though nothing I can do will stop other lanes feeding, mid feeding, people overextending, suiciding in 4v1 situations… I buy wards, call mia, call other people’s mia when they don’t, and play a hero that fits with what the team needs.

Yet… it doesn’t help. 8 losses later and I need help!

So playing Renekton more I’ve discovered that there’s two builds that work great for him, at least for me, but which one you choose really depends on if you’re solo queue’ing or playing with a premade.

When I’m solo queue’ing I like to build a much tankier Renekton, whereas with a premade unless the team comp calls for a slightly tankier build I go much heavier DPS.

DPS: CDR Boots, Ghostblade, Frozen Mallet (Fill other slots with whatever is called for from Black Cleaver, Infinity Edge, Bloodthirster, Randuin’s and FoN)

Tanky DPS: CDR Boots, Ghostblade, Warmog, Atma’s (Fill other slots with either AS or tanky items, I like Randuin’s and either a Frozen Mallet or Black Cleaver)

CDR Boots and Ghostblade I’ve found to be key in any build, usually I build the CDR Boots, Brutalizer, get my next item, then finish Ghostblade. In the tankier build sometimes I’ll get Warmogs AND Atma’s before finishing Ghostblade.

Of course there are other, I’m sure better builds, but these have been working great for me.

so basically for ELO hell you have to remember, your opponents are in ELO hell too. Someone brought up a good point, assuming you aren’t a leaver/feeder your team only has a 4 slots with possible feeders, the enemies team has the full 5 that could be leavers/feeders. If you lose because one of your lanes fed, chances are YOU had the chance to win but you didn’t punish their over extensions as much as they punished yours, maybe both teams fed but when they got kills they did more with it. Everyone likes to pretend it’s one sided ‘my team mates feed all the time, my team mates don’t pay attention to the map etc…’, but it’s not like the match maker see’s bad people, throws other bad people on their team, then matches them against less bad people.

So I guess the moral is this, you can’t stop other lanes from feeding, you can’t stop people from leaving, you can’t stop your team mates from not understanding the game. What you CAN do is punish the enemies feeders/leavers/bad players etc… just as hard as they are punishing yours, and make sure as a team you are doing the right stuff when you get the advantage(IE pushing towers/killing their jungle/baron/dragon when you have the advantage).

Tolore is spot on.

In my opinion, ELO hell is a state of mind once you get past everyone else sucking and just work on your own game you’ll start winning a lot more. The reason I like this game so much is that it reminds me of a fighting game. It’s all about the footsies and baiting and punishing the other teams mistakes or bad decisions. Watch some streams to get an idea of what I’m talking about,

I always say elo hell doesnt exist. I have 3 accounts 1800+ and one that almost hit 2k(1990 lol). It’s mostly about owning your lane then supporting your team by giving them direction and killing the enemy champs that are owning your team. Jungle disruption also goes a longways to winning the game.

4v5 and massive feeders happen everyone once in awhile but not enough that you cant break out of your current elo bracket.

Also elo hell only applies to ranked games, normal games don’t count.

i’m a lot less experience than most of the guys on here, but i have a question about jungle rammus. Is it possible to do without being level 30 (for 0-21-9 masteries) and having all level 3 runes with armpen reds, hp quints, flat armor yellows, and whatever (i actually use mag resist) blues? I have been trying to jungle rammus at level 23 right now with only tier 1 hp quints, armpen reds, mag resist blues, and mana regen yellows. Other than the rier 1 quints everything else is tier 3. Needless to say I feel like I"m almost being detrimental to my team some games when I can’t clear my jungle without teleing back.

I use tier 3 armor runes and defense mastery and I have to heal after red now. Didnt use to have to but due to patch changes the made it hard. Assking for help with blue golem helps a lot and you might be able to gank after red if you get help. With runes jungling rammus is to slow and hard.

Ive actually seen quite a few good Karma’s.
She is solid support.

Shes not a hero that just ups and dominates games all alone.
So its much harder to tell her impact on games.

If you see a bunch of feeder Karma’s, its not because the champ is bad.

I still think Renekton is lackluster after the buffs.

I just did it with Rammus, 23 mastery points, and no runes, so it should definitely be doable with runes. At your summoner level, people shouldn’t really expect a jungler to perform to their full potential anyway…

long description of how I do it

[details=Spoiler]
1/22/0. Get Improved Smite, AR, MR, Dodge, 2 points in Strength of Spirit, -Phys Damage, -Minion Damage, +Health, and the 4% damage reduction.

Start at the enemy’s wraith camp. Smite the blue wraith when it spawns, then head towards your wolves.

Wolves -> Blue (smite) -> Wraiths -> Red (smite) -> Golems

It’s a rather easy run, actually. You might want to wait a bit before hitting Blue to let Smite recharge a bit, but aside from that it’s very straight forward and you are never at risk of dying until the golems at the end (due to no smite).

The golems will take a lot out of you, if you need to gank now you may opt to skip them and jump straight into a gank. Wolves will respawn just as red dies, you could also consider nailing them instead.

If there is an enemy jungler and you know it isn’t safe to steal his big wraith (few junglers actually start off at wraiths, so you should be fine),

Blue (smite)-> Wolves -> Wraiths -> Golems (smite) -> Wait until 600+ HP -> Red

You will survive this run by the skin of your teeth, so it is important to optimize the free heal from level ups (keep your health near full if you are about to level) and optimize your attacks/DBC/Powerballs. You can kite red in-between DBCs, though if the lizard minions are still alive I don’t think it’s worth it to kite big red.

I’m not sure if smiting the golems is optimal, it may be better to just DBC them and drop the smite on Red instead.

It’s funny how much easier the run is just by stealing the big wraith from the enemy camp and starting at wolves instead of Blue (Rammus is in no hurry to get Blue, DBC only costs 50/280 mana)

Plus, if there is an enemy jungler, he’ll be pissed off to find his big 120exp wraith was stolen.[/details]

I was in a game against Lux and Karma. Shields everywhere. Malzahar was not pleased.

So been diving into soloqueue ranked. So far 2/2, last game I pretty much threw it away, told them to ban amumu/shen, especially shen since he is free, they banned Eve/Tryn, the enemy picks Amumu/Shen and both go double digits by end game, it was pretty much GGPO when Vlad, Kennen, and Ashe couldn’t gank a free MF. But I had fun got to mess around a bit.

I really don’t understand why people ban Eve. Is it really that hard to buy an oracles and to coordinate team fights where she can be stomped down easily at any time she enters? I’d honestly ban vlad or garen in ranked. Tryn isn’t that threatening either.

I’m going to start building QSS in every game I play from now on just to counter the idea that someone could taunt/stun me and just drop my pants and insert their entire team up my ass.

i know my elo for ranked games is kinda low, but apparently my normal game stats are good enough that I run into Westrice…fun stuff.:shake:

also, Alistar is baller.

I am guessing you have played a lot more normal games then ranked. Since the sample size is higher it is more accurately depicting of your true ranking. However I am not sure if normal is calculated the same or if you were Q’ing with a group. Basically what I am getting at here is that the skill lvl difference from normal to ranked is sadly very little if not even.

Normal gives you a rating boost whenever you gain summoner levels (in an attempt to separate the Lv8s from the Lv1s), and it is easy to inflate when your account is new, because matchmaking tries to only put you against players of your summoner level. There is also a significant rating boost in the early levels if you end a game with a high KDR.

So you have Lv30 players at 2000 rating and Lv15 players at 2000 rating who never get to play against each other until the Lv15s become 25+s. By then they will probably have stomped their way to 2400+.

By the time you hit 30 you’ll only be getting 14-16 rating per match, so you’re pretty much stuck where you’re at unless you premade 5s or go on a colossal win streak. It’s possible Westrice was just a total nab starting out, or possible you stomped enough at low levels to get to where he is.

Spell vamp on cass is buff. Or at least it felt like it was.

Tested it a little with will of the ancients and dropping both poisons on a creepwave felt like it healed me a shit ton from each tick.

Watching Westrice play a champ that isn’t Akali is horrible.

imo.

the problem with eve is you have to trust your whole team to not die to eve, I had a 4 on 5 that we almost lost because 3 of my 5 team mates fed eve a TON and she was almost unstoppable. Though I agree on vlad, I really think deathcap broke him and he needs some adjusting.
