It allows one to LK xx LP Palm, which is a nice extra. With how the LK moves forward and LP Palm gets a bigger hit box this might be a great footsie tool. Though we’ll have to see if it actually works out that way or not. The cMP change is the one mirroring the MK into hadou.

F.st.lk buff is amaaaazing. Look at Wao and you’ll know what I mean. Oni’s f.st.lk beats Ryus cr.mk at the right distance. With cr.mp being + 3 we now have a low game. Something he was desperately lacking

if they made cr.mp be +3 by removing recovery frames, then I don’t see what it got us besides a counterhit trap that needs two 1frame links to pull off.

I’m pretty certain it’s a +2 hitstun buff. Hopefully it came with a blockstun buff, too.

If s.LK xx LP palm actually works from, like, max range, I’m going to cream my pants.

EX tatsu change actually gives Gouken something to do vs every non-large character when defending, instead of gambling it on kongos.

So lp> lp> st lk special cancel should work…

That is a chain combo so no canceling after st.lk.

^ I feel ya… looking at the other changes it just doesn’t make much sense and the usage seems kinda limited to just keeping people out…

I was hoping lp would just be +5 on hit (actually I wanted +6) and it would solve the combo/hit confirm issue.

I used to think being able to do lp - cl. st. mp - cr. hp > ??? would be kinda strong, but looking at the mechanic changes and what every one else can do such as combo into their ultra’s from a normal attack (Guile for example), it really doesn’t seem too crazy now.

And lp > cl. st. mp would be a 1 frame link even if it was at +5 so it’s not like everybody can do it, and it wouldn’t work if you did lp - lp - st. mp… And there if it’s blocked, the cl. s.t mp wouldn’t be a true block string so someone could mash you… totally balanced imo… especially after all this other bs I’m seeing.

There are probably some other stealth changes that people havent’ picked up on… it’s not like it’s a ton of Gouken players out there so I’m trying to remain optimistic.

It just seem retarded that every other character who had an issue with people low profiling their attacks, they got it buffed (Sagat, Dan, Guy for ex) so why not Gouken???

Shit… vs. Dan and Guy that’s how I always escaped their mix up… and they armor break and grab… but still no invinc reversal… WTF… I guess I’ll have to wait to get meter to EX Tatsu and hope they don’t block… or try to save 3 meters to make it safe and that happens about once or twice in a match… “shrugs”…

This is exactly what Im saying. Right now in foosies the only thing we can buffer is cr.lk xx ex tatsu and thats only on TWO characters, Duds and Rog. We have no low game. Anybody ever play a super strong Ryu? We have absolutely nothing for his low forward other than a guess low kongo and even then, at tip the explosion doesnt hit him.

Now we have cr.mp xx hado, possibly cr.mp xx lp palm, we now have f.st.lk xx lp palm to buffer like how Cammy can buffer cr.lkxx cannon drill (this is all providing lp palm moves a bit). Our low footsie game is buffed huge and tatsu hits crouchers. I say he deserved at least one more thing…especially looking at the laundry list of buffs that Guile and Juri got…but its alright.

One more thing would’ve made him really really REALLY viable. Something like the ex hado idea (second lp shoots another lp hado) or maybe kongo not breaking on reversal with them balancing it nerfing active frames or something else…but hey (shrugs). Tbh Im just glad they didnt nerf dive kick or sweep. I’m not worried about delayed wake. It will most likely be a set wake across the board and we’ll just come up with safe jumps for it once we know the details.

Delayed wake up, as I understood, is applied only at techable knockdown?

Yeah both EH and SRK so it only applies to untech knock downs and is activated by holding two buttons of the same strength

I fail to see the correlation between needing an EX bar to gain an invincible 7 frame reversal and a non EX move that can be thrown, armor broken, hit in different zones, and taunted.

not everybody can use the kongo. the potential is there to succeed 100%. none of us can reach that percentage, but some of us get more percentage than others. by the sound of it, the majority here only succeed like 20%.

we have standing hk, and the BEST SWEEP. they are definitely sufficient. if ryu is pressuring you, then you need to let go of the fear. that’s what this fucking character was about. freaking sissys…

we had st hk, and cr hk, and inbetween, dash in throw or FA or jump in or st mp or mp overhead. couldn’t make that work? well, capcom got your back… if ya can’t make it work, they will help ya an extra little bit! just let ‘em know when to stop pushin’ your bicycle…

I believe he, like me, wishes they had buffed Gouken in line with his design, not buffed him in line with every other shoto everywhere else. I’ll still take these buffs though, they are solid, just I hope my fear of there eventual effect resulting only in our good matchups getting better and our bad ones only marginally improving doesn’t happen.

I have no idea what any of this post means. And obviously you havent faced a good Ryu. You’re telling me about sweep and st.hk like I dont about them. Go play Valle, Solid or Deltron and tell me how that works out.

And weren’t you the one complaining that Gouken doesnt need a sound reversal? That he didnt need for tatsu to hit crouchers? Are you playing noobs or something? Seriously, who are you playing? You must be playing at bday parties or something. Around here we wanna be competitive. And in order to be competitive in this game you need SOME sort or reversal. Go ask Makoto, Abel, Hakan, Cody, Juri, Vega and the rest of the cast who have shitty or borderline useless reversals why they aren’t in Top 8. Cody will Ruffian kick you right in the nuts for asking that dumb question.

If you dont want one you can gladly tune your ranked/endless search criteria to AE2012 when Ultra comes out. No one is forcing this on you buddy. As for th rest of us, we will be tatsuing crouchers from July on.

i’m mad because capcom succumbed gouken to your level of “wah! wah! waaaaah!” crying because you couldn’t handle your opponent without shoryuken.

the character that i grew fond of, had the bitching back throw to almost instant death ultra 1, strong kongo and strong combos.

now gouken got this fucking srk and some of you are saying “well ok but now he just lacks hit confirms off lows”, you are way fucking off base on how the character started initially. and i think it’s tragic that capcom took the character this route. anybody heading that way, have a good trip.
