|| Litchi || Thread of Mantenbou and Double D's

Oh, I’m not making an argument that you should be primarily holding the staff–I actually feel that fluidly moving between the two styles is what her game works best with. Once you’re already in, I agree that her pressure game without it, or with it in-transit is better than having it in hand. What I’m saying is that having the staff does put you in a position of having that guessing game in your advantage, and using the threat of both styles gives you a guessing-game advantage that can better allow you to get in, in the first place.

You always want the Mantenbou for her neutral game. The scenarios when you have them in the corner is where you want to have it planted, right after a combo. It’s because her mix ups are more potent without the Mantenbou, for example her overhead, being able to chain 5A into 5B without counter hit, etc. Otherwise, you pretty much always want the Mantenbou in neutral game to zone with pokes. Also, with the Mantenbou you can do all the combos that put them in the corner for her mix up game. Without it, her combos mid screen are pretty weak.

whats good? i was wondering if anyone would be willing to go over how to pressure and work on some set ups and combos with me…I’m on 360 if anyone wants to help me out…

peace

You want Mantenbou in her hands. There are more reasons to keep the staff than not to. Her normals and options with Mantenbou in hand are sooooooooooo much better than without.

The only times you really should bother planting is in the middle of combos, to hit Arakune and break curse if he’s running away, or to work in the occasional High/Low mixup if you crouch plant.

Crouch planting, hitting D, and then IADing into C is a great setup in the corner for mixup that could lead into either 6C~ or DP+D into 6C~.

Any other times, you want to be abusing the range and priority of her w/ Staff normals.

i prefer to leave my staff planted and wear my opponent down with rekkas and watnot… then in a clench i like to do some reach leaps or let loose the cigarette man DD move… gets most ppl some of the time… also her 6C moves are great for getting some breathing room…

but alas i have a question… does my boobie lady have any reliable launcher combos?.. i mean aside from her rekkas?.. or maybe some simple loops?

A man in a dress? :coffee:

That’s the point we were trying to make. If you run around staff-less in neutral game, that’s pretty much what you’re going to be working with. Three pitty pat rekkas while other Litchi players land full combos that lead into corner mix ups.

I hate to be an asshole but I’ll have to agree, if they’re workin with a face like that…they better be carrying NATURAL double D’s for some confirmation.

She has tons of launcher combos. Most of her combos involve launching at some point during it.

Combo into itsuuC(HCF+D ~ C), CH combos (Forward + B, jumping C, Ryuu distortion), any combo involving Tsubame(DP+D).

There is no wrong way to play Litchi, but I really do think people should try to keep the staff in their hands more. I see a lot of Litchi’s online plant staff for no reason except because they like the rekka moves, which are nice… but her combo opportunities are piss-poor compared to when she has the staff.

Like I said, plant the staff only when you need to use it as a projectile, in a combo, or for a mixup/anti-tech opportunity.

Here’s a link to Lord Knight’s thread on Dustloop with all those combos I just mentioned:

http://www.dustloop.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5791

It’s a little difficult to read or understand for people accustomed to Capcom notations, but it’s worth learning if you’re going to be playing BlazBlue.

man that Litchi was hot! ppl jus hatin coz I got her at a bad angle and coz she aint asian…

but anyway… guess who I met today??

I had to apologize to her coz I lost my first round at the tournament today

granted, it was against a dustloop player who prolly has friends who play the game and more arcade experience than I do… he was hanging out with the other DL ppl there.

to make myself feel better I went to the AX arcade and beat everyone there

Nah sir. Her face and shoulders are way mannish.

Second one’s alright though. Needs more boobs in my boobie lady.

I finally understand what I was doing wrong with my combo from earlier…I wasn’t holding D  I feel silly for overlooking that simple detail. Now I can manage the 2C > 29j.BC variation. Thanks Lord Knight

Now I need to learn simpler combos for situational purposes, then get more match experience.

^DP to 41236 D seems to work well in continuous use, couldn’t hurt to throw in a Thirteen Orphans followed up with a ground or air grab afterwards

stop posting litchi’s without double D’s.

so what the fuck do you do against noel with litchi? i feel like i can put up a fight at least against the other characters, but even masher noels are just death for litchi. once the chain revolver bullshit starts up i’m done. for christ’s sake she has an overhead that hits behind her for crossups, invincibility frames on half her shit; once she’s in your face it feels impossible to counter of get out. i try to hold staff and keep her out but i can only do that for so long before she can get in and then the fucking gun fu shitstorm starts up again.

awesome awesome litchi combo vid. She has so many damn variations, would take an eternity to learn them all. And holy shit at the 7:34, I gotta learn that asap, total bragging rights combo.:encore:

Holy shit, that is a great video. Must-watch, just for the aforementioned 7:34 combo, and maybe also to find some upgrades to your staffless combos, CH wallbounce combos, etc. Time to hit training mode again…

Edit: I think this is the combo…let me know if I made any mistakes transcribing…

5B, 2C, itsuuA, 623D, haku, (slight delay) hatsu, 63214A, A, 2 (land), 7B, C, D, 66, C, staff2, 6C, tsubame, 6C, 3C

I’m having some strange problems with execution.

I’m trying to get this combo down:

WTIH MANTENBOU B -> C -> HCF+D -> C -> 9, QCF+C -> 2C -> 9, B -> C -> D -> 66 (in air) -> C -> 6C -> DP+D -> 6C -> 3C -> RDP+C

But around 30 percent of the time, Litchi just lays down her staff when I do HCF+D… Even when the input in practice mode says i got the motion perfect, I also know for a fact that the timing isn’t too fast or too slow since I’ve been playing around with the speeds. The weird thing is that I used to never have this problem, but it’s getting worse and worse with more attempts.

I’m also having problems with the 2C and 9,B. The 2C I can hit the majority of the time if QCF+C hits fast enough, but the 9,B part often strikes at the same time the computer tech rolls out of it.

And finally, the DP+D… I can get this 100% when doing this out of a combo, but for some reason, Litchi just ends up putting her staff down even though to motion is perfect.

I can get this combo to work about 25% of the time, but these 3 errors are a bit annoying. Anyone got any ideas?

I’m using the SF4 TE stick BTW.

you probably are going to have to work out your execution problems yourself.

as for 2C>j.B, i usually do 5B. when i do have to use 2C for smaller characters like noel, tao, or nu, i have to remind myself to hit 2C earlier.

Litchi is the shit.
Hey, can someone do me a favor?
I was watching one of the “Teach me! Miss Litchi!” episodes (I believe it was the second one, where Noel and company visit her for the first time) and they do this like close up of her chest, and I was wondering if someone can make a gif. of it for my avatar?
:wgrin:

Wrong place to ask. Try IMM.
