It would be our anti-air if has that initial invincibility. If you need to test it, try it out against a jump-in to see what happens.
Okay, so I’m playing around with her in training mode right now, and I’m sorry to say that her grab is not invincible, it can hit people in midair (it doesn’t go into the grab animation) but generally they will hit her first. Her cr. roundhouse timed well can actually be a anti-air. BTW, this was all tested against Kazuya’s jump-in fierce. Anyways, I think her best anti air is going to be her :qcf::k: from AOP stance and it is kind of like a Cannon Spike. Anything else I should try?
EDIT: I’ve been trying some stuff out with her, and I kind of take back what I said, her combos aren’t that difficult to get into but timing is key (still not that bad though). Her Heavy Fortune Cookie is outstanding, as it automatically puts her into RD, and it can actually combo into Turn of Fortune (:2p: in RD really). If you tap :d::d: while she is doing Turn of Fortune, it automatically puts her in AOP stance, and then you can combo that into Wave Crest (:p: during AOP) which is her elbow that elbows them into the air. Then you can do her special or even your special attack where you do both partners specials (forgot what it is called…) or you can add one extra :hp: for a bit of damage. That combo roughly gets to 277 without any bar which isn’t bad considering she is a weak damage output character not to mention it is quite flashy and it takes time off the clock
If you don’t have any bar, you can go from her AOP stance into Phoenix Talon (:qcf::lk:) which does 292 and that is better if you don’t want to use bar. What is really cool about this combo though is that it is really easy to get to from a tag cancel, so for example, I use Chun’s Lightning Legs and once Xiaoyu runs in, all I have to do is hit confirm the :mp: to start the whole thing
That sucks, but I’ll live with that. Can you check for these:
- How safe are the initial hits of any of the :qcf::p: moves? Any additional properties like one of them being an overhead?
- Can she control the trajectory of her Cyanide overhead? By this, I mean can you move her back and forth while on startup?
- Does AOP go under projectiles?
- Any particular counter hit properties on her attacks?
- Is Flower Power an overhead?
Well it’s 900 for a reason. She does not have good normals to counter poke. So my next guess is when she is in, your gonna get opened up. Her over head is really fast. probably has more options to extend combo on her own
I got the game today, and this character is hella fun. She has a style very atypical for a char in a 2d fighter, but at first glance she seems really good.
The fact that you can cancel into either stance off of cancellable normals is amazing.
For anti airs, her qcf k in Phoenix stance is working for me. .if you do D, PPP, DF, F, Kick all real fast, it comes out so fast that you can’t even see her enter Phoenix.
If anyone wants me to test anything when I get home from work in a few hours just post up!
I’d love to know about her dive kick
also what links dose she have ,
I’m going to test the safety of her dive kick when I get home, but otherwise it seems pretty safe, and it can leave you in the backwards stance.
It’s strange though, if you hold forward as you recover you don’t go into the stance, however if you don’t hold any direction you do.
I think I tested holding down, but it just crouched me and left me in no stance.
As far as links, all I had a chance to see is cr. Lp into st. Mp
I’ll test more when I get home.
i really want a c.lk - h link
Wouldn’t an easier input be F, D+PPP, DF+K? I just got a KOF vibe from this input.
For me that would be harder, but the input itself is the hadoken motion so IDK if a dp movement would do it.
Whoops, I read that wrong.
It must be an epidemic lol because when I first read the move in game I thought it was DP xP no problem.
Question to whoever else has the game, have you discovered anything decent with Hakkesho? I haven’t tried anything yet but I haven’t thought of much use for it either.
Corner carrying?
I do believe it helps you extend combos in the corner, but she has many other superior options. I think it is her charge move so perhaps it is there just for the free SA, I’ll check later once I’m home in like 7 hours :_(
K. BTW, there’s no need to quote the post right above you.
Wow, her far st.MK is awesome. It moves you forward, and on hit you can link into a st.LP.
I’m messing with combos right now, and the simple one is far MK > st.LP > cr.MK xx QCF LP for 201 damage, plus it isn’t even that hard.
I think I can get more by canceling the cr.mk into phoenix stance.
EDIT:
Most of the time it links into close st.MP…
So I’m doing far st.MK > st.MP xx QCF HP (which takes me into Rain Dance) > P then P before it hits aka Turn of Fortune which takes me into Phoenix > QCF HK for 313 damage meterless.
I’m pretty sure I can do far st. MK > st.MP xx QCF HP > Turn of Fortune > Phoenix > LP > far MP xx Phoenix > QCF HK
HOLY SHIT THIS CHARACTER IS FUCKING COMPLICATED. GET YOUR EXECUTION HATS ON KIDS, BECAUSE WE’RE GOING ON A FIELD TRIP.
Sorry Oso, on a different forum I’m really used to quoting. Also, Wonder Chef, try linking her Mk to Lp to Fortune Cookie. I posted a combo earlier that does around 300 without meter and I think it is an extension of the one you posted. If not, hopefully it will give you ideas. Also, Wonder Chef, what console do you have it for? I have it for PS3, and if you want we should practice online today if possible. I would love to test stuff out with a fellow Xiaoyu player.
I just updated my last post. The spacing makes it so that st.LP > cr.MK xx QCF HP doesn’t reach though =/
Add me on PSN if you want, my gamertag is ADG_Wonder_Chef.
I haven’t played against real people though yet, haha.
EDIT: This is a sick ass Oki setup, do cr.MK xx Phoenix > P > far st.MP xx QCF LK. That’s so siiick.
this character requires alot of execution?
sweeeeeet
Wonder Chef, I’ll add you when I get home soon and do not worry, I haven’t verse anyone either as I want to get my Xiaoyu stuff down beforehand. Also, we won’t do matches, you can actually go into training mode online with a friend. Who do you use with Xiaoyu? I use Chun because I have been deadest on using those 2 from the start. Chun Li-ng Xiaoyu
