ah yeah. you need to make sure you LINK every normal, you cannot cancel the cr.hp to rain dance if it’s chained. just keep practicing the timing of the normals. also make sure you do the first st.mk quick enough so that they’re still high enough in the air to get hit by the other two normals.
This bitch is crazy. Seems like the kind of character you’re better off trying to learn once you’re comfortable with the game as a whole.
i dunno i think that shes the type of character that if you pick her early on and stay with her it will pay off in the long run
Flower Power (qcb+k while in phoenix) seems to be a great move to emergency tag cancel (mp+mk) if you need to get xiao out safely, provided you can actually get it started up. It does so much block stun, I’m willing to bet you’d have enough time to cross them up while they’re still blocking it, also.
Xiaoyu is just a character that will require dedication, just like she does in Tekken. I started with Xiaoyu in Tekken and it was a difficult journey, but I would rather start with a character I enjoy. I do not know how to play Ken, Ryu and I am fine with that.
There does not appear to be a Vs thread, but I will add this info I found. D+HK is good against Vega’s Charge-D,U+HP (Sky High Claw). If you time it right you will hit him out of it and if you are a little late, Vega goes over you.
D+HK is probably her best antiair, figured this out last night.
Oh, really? Does it lower her hitbox? How easy is it to punish a j.hk from ryu or the shotos?
Very easy. See for yourself. On top of that, you can cancel it into :d::3p: xx :qcf::hk: which is a tag combo starter… On 3 meter I can get over 600 damage with her and ibuki using this as an antiair.

I’ve been using Ling/Asuka. I’m having problems with footsies. She lacks range on a lot of her moves. I generally get away with doing something like c.mk xx aop p into s.mp xx aop qcf+k.
Any tips of what to do against an opponent with longer reach? Her qcf+k special seems decent for getting in, but are any of her other specials even worth using?
She’s mad challenging but shes really fun when stuff works, haha.
Also what do you guys do after RD qcf+K,K? Can you even combo after it or is it just launching the opponent for show…
Well if you need a move to come out as soon as you get to your destination of the roll, it can be useful there

All of her qcf+p moves are safe, you can poke with st.mp xx qcf+lp because her st.mp has pretty much the best range of her normals.
That’s about all that I’ve found Xiao has really poor footsies it feels like.
I’ve been playing her and Kuma together and have had a fair amount of luck online. I mainly use defense gems for Ling and power gems for Kuma.
I think other than her standing mp, her standing lk is her best poke. As a tekken player it reminds me of her raccoon swing, which was one of her best moves. Although it can’t be special canceled, it fishes for tag combos rather well.
Speaking of standing mp, canceling it into aof and mixing up is alot of fun. She can jump cancel out of aop after st mp for some tricky stuff.
I’m not good at her combos without tagging yet, but feel she has alot of potential. She has awesome jump in attacks and can get quick tricky with her mix ups.
qcb+p is kinda useless. After cyanide, qcb+mp seems to give an extra bit of bounce that u can follow up with…
I find something very very good about her stances.
YOU CAN GO DIRECTLY FROM HER STANCES INTO HER NON-STANCE SPECIALS.
The timing’s a bit tricky, but when you’re in either stance, add a jumping input and press your button immediately. For example, to go from AOP into Fortune Cookie, do :qcf::uf:+:hp:

what are you guys doing to help link dark and stormy after a heavy fortune cookie? I’m plinking it and it’s still very inconsistent for me. Also when I tap punches twice the turn of fortune doesnt come out. I have to tap punches three times for it to come out for some reason. Also what are you guys using for hit confirms?
plink later, you can actually piano all the punches. what i do now is:
hp mp lp lp, roll your fingers across the punches and try not to hit two at once to avoid ex, and then double tap lp with your index finger. there’s really no downside to this.
The only problem with Flower Power is that it’s startup is terrible and in most cases, the opponent can see it comes and sometimes will just neutral jump which can get her unless you tag immediately. Also, if you miss the tag cancel by doing light flower power, she is going to take a beating.
Her poking game is not great, I would say mid-low at best, but her :lk: isn’t horrible, I think her :mk: where she goes towards them is preferable to get in though because it can link into :mp: which can be cancelled to start her big combos.
Also, if you go the “Xiaoyu combo thread” someone posted why her Hakkesho (:qcb: :p:) is actually really useful. The tactic is called CADC, which I believe stands for Charge Attack Dash Cancel for now. You know how you can charge that move, well, by dashing out of it, you can cancel moves like cr.:hp: into another cr.:hp: though it is difficult, you can pull some huge damage combos out of her with this technique.
That is really cool, and I think I’ll try it…but wait…I’m not sure how the combo system in this game works, but as the character gets hit more, do they recover faster. If they do not, then Xiaoyu has a potential infinite because Fortune Cookie can combo into AOP, and if that combos back into Fortune Cookie…O_____O
Damn. I was looking to pick Xiao up but I can’t figure her out in the least. I need some frame data, or at least a couple of BnB’s to get things going.
