Wednesday Nights = STARBASE (San Rafael) $5 from 8pm-close(12am-3am)
Starbase Arcade is located at 1545 4th street, San Rafael CA (google map)
A REAL arcade with a sanwa cab + people who bring their own setups. You can count on about 15 people per session. $5 for unlimited play, which is a steal considering all of the electricity we run, and Bob (the owner) staying late to accomodate! Support this guy!!

Why would you close one of the fastest growing threads in the Pac. North section?

As Hoo already pointed out, the main reason we get double talk is cuz we are all playing the same game at the same two locations. That will not always be the same. Two threads for two diferrent areas/scenes are warranted IMO.
I think we need to calm down. While I prefer 1 thread because there’s always overlap in our conversations amongst each other,I also want what the majority thinks is in its best interest. Either way is fine by me. I’m thankful I have somewhere to post period so keep that in mind. This is an easy fix so there’s no need to call anyone a forum Nazi or otherwise. Whoever decided to do this did it because they thought they were helping our group out. No need to get angry. Just chill and request the fix. Anything beyond that is being over dramatic.
I think I’ll join you guys in the SSFIV game. Do more people play on PSN or XBL?
Donuts Dojo is a quick bus ride away, but the bus back to my locale stops running from the transit mall at 8:15. Anyone willing to give me a ride back to north Petaluma (off of N. Petaluma blvd and Stony Point, Pepper rd) for some gas money?
We are a group therefor there needs to be a group decision on things like this. Sonoma has a lot of potential to get scenes going in Marvel and other soon to be released games. Games that no one at Starbase will be playing seriously. IMO it would be doing them and us a favor to keep both threads open so we can both expand accordingly. As it is, The Starbase thread is one of the fastest growing threads in Pac North and many outsiders are getting involved as you can see from our gatherings. We almost have no more room for our sessions!
But like Vdon said. I am up for whatever the majority wants. Everyone should have an unbiased vote on this. And it should include everyone who has posted in 707 before we make this kind of decision.
I didnt realize that the Sonoma and Starbase threads were closed at one point. We cannot get rid of the Starbase thread because it is more of an active thread and easier for others from the Bay to pay more attention to since it seems to be growing lil by lil. I wouldnt mind getting rid of the Sonoma thread as much, but I also dont think it would be fair for others in the area who are trying to find a session. I think this thread can be primary use for general announcements for the Northbay, so I am also not against it. Either way I feel fortunate to have threads 2 go 2 and thanks for the Donut Dojo shoutout. : )
I Think Keeping The Threads Seperate Is the Better Way 2 Go, even if we have to read 3 threads to find all the desired info. Whereas I’m not a huge contributer to the local scene being that i work alot of saturday mornings and all through the week, maybe my opinion still counts. I do see what rival was aiming for in uniting this whole community but i also see how there is a neccisity in multiple threads. thats my thoughts.
I just wanted to get the ball rolling on this. A few points I want to make:
A. If someone wants to find comp in Sonoma County, it’s pretty much a given that all the other areas would get involved, as they already do, and vice versa (Sonoma County players coming up to Marin/San Rafael for some comp). It’s not like Sonoma County is relegated to specific games, or that Starbase is just SFIV or whatever. We can look at the past 50 or so posts and realize it’s same exact people posting.
If you’re worried about the popularity of a thread (maybe you get some sort of popularity bonus on these boards? I dunno), then change the Starbase thread to include Sonoma County as well. I thought you guys would be more pumped to unite everyone than to make a statement of how fast your thread is growing.
…but I digress. I originally had the threads closed (with a referral link) in case people had no idea what thread to look for, but I didn’t expect that people would take such a personal stance against it.
Let’s have people weigh in on it! I’ll change the name of this thread for now. Just don’t forget just how goofy what we’re doing is.
That’s cool we are putting it to a vote. I’m down for anything. I know I probably don’t have much voice in much seeing that I just started hanging out with you guys. Any problems we have should be discussed with no anger. We are all here for the same reason, to become godlike! Oh and I believe I’m making to this weeks session!!! Finally f my boss :-/. Let’s not mess anything up for just threads, let’s keep it classy and fight like gentlemen (g’.’)g
in a sense i agree with rival… we don’t really need two threads… if anything we should combine 707 sonoma thread with the starbase thread, the major reason is that, it is somewhat true all the 707 ppl really do post on the starbase page and visaversa, but to me i dont really care… one or multiple threads in the end we read the same shit lol
I prefer 1 thread but I’m ok either way. I think that in time, we’ll need 2 threads again because MvC3 will emerge and a few of us won’t be actively participating in that.
