I’d say just go with an electric trimmer with adjustable guide. Should work universally imo for any hair type.
My current process is I’ll go over the areas I want to keep with electric trimmer at maybe a 3 or 4 length, line up the edges as well, then hit my cheeks/neck with gel and standard razor. I only really need to use the trimmer once a week, razor as needed maybe every other day.
My facial hair grows really fast and is really thick, almost as thick as my black girlfriends hair. I think most of this depends more on your skin than your hair, as some people have sensitive skin and certain razors irritate and cause bumps
I wil lsay best is ‘relative’, everyone has their own process based on their own hair, own skin, and own style. there are other factors as well.
For me, I said fuck barber about 11 years ago methinx. I got tired of paying for a haircut - just to go home and reshape it up before I went out. So when I cut/trim my facial hair, I have two different types - there is the ‘quick trim to look clean’ and then there is ‘I’m trying to convince my wife to put out so I’m going to get suave’.
Option 1 - Quick trim is a simple two.5 step process. If you think its two thick - use a pair of trimmers to get the desired length…so long as the length is normal - this should be a 60 second ordeal. Extra time if you have different lengths (sometimes I grow my goatee out a bit and keep the beard lower, other times I keep them the same). thats hte “.5”. the other two steps for myself involve lining myself up/shaping myself up with the most accurate liners I own. (I want to upgrade though). Then I go over the area with a razor blade to complete the ‘fresh’ look. I do this alot when I get that ‘spike’ that grows from the middle of my cheek towards my eyes. this also helps with hair on my neck.
Option 2 is a bit more involved. I go thru and either pluck or hand cut any grey hairs I have FIRST…as they are easier to see and seperate since their texture makes them grow ‘straight’. Then I chase that with a complete hair cut (length). Then I proceed to line up everything. Take a shower to get the skin ‘right’, then I shave without shaving cream…it helps me keep those lines tight being able to see my previous work. The shower is super important because it forces you to take a step back and RE-EVALUATE the line-up…the first pass thru the sides might not be perfectly symetrical…I always get a curve on one side and a more straight ‘box’ like cut on the other the first pass. The second time thru though I typically get it right to make sure both sides are balance and have the same curvature.
I use an electric razor for everything. I only have to shave a little on my cheeks and my neck. My skin is just as manly as my beard so nothing can fuck with my skin. As for my hair, I havent cut that shit in a long time and have no plans to cut it any time soon. Its fucking glorious.
I haven’t shaved in a week and I’m a little surprised at how much as grown. My face has always been stubborn when it comes to hair growth and it always comes in nasty looking patches. This however looks pretty even so far so maybe I’ll hold off shaving until Memorial day.
I’m not rugged enough to grow any facial hair besides a mustache which grows pretty fast so I have to shave it every few days, not an issue though since it takes like 5 minutes.
Small body+not being able to grow a beard beyond baby hairs=being doomed to have every woman ask me if I’m over 18:rofl:
Im rocking a short full face beard atm. My hair grows quick and is very thick so I have had various styles of beards that I have played with. I need to go find some pics of the styles and post them. I had an insane goatee that was 5 inches long which I could braid. Sadly beard= can’t get a job, so it had to come off.
Just For Men is more of a product for guys that are self conscious about their grays. It’s less about looking attractive to women and more about not feeling old. Most of my facial hair decisions are based on what I think would be interesting or refreshing or even defiant. I grew my beard out knowing my girl didn’t approve because I wanted to see how it would look. ITS MY FACE I’LL DO WHAT I WANT WITH IT.
I have the full “Baron Davis” - but I keep it low. For anyone that knows anything about clippers, my beard is usually at a “1” or “1.5”. Never use a razor unless I’m getting a shapeup at the barbershop. Use a beard trimmer every couple days to keep it low and line it up with T-head trimmers. Know when to trim when the neckbeard starts to show.
I know you guys love your beards, but very few girls I’ve talked to like beards. A little facial hair that is neatly trimmed is fine, but when you have some kind of animal attached to your face it gets a bit icky.
I mean, how would you like it if your girl grew a beard? And I’m not talking about on her face.
We know this. Contrary to popular belief though, women don’t always get what they want. Sometimes you just gotta do something because YOU want to do it, vag be damned.
My girl actually prefers a beard, just didn’t like it when I let it get long enough to chew on. Probably because I kept chewing on it. She’s pretty adamant that I’m never allowed to have a totally clean shave. She also gets mad when I shave my chest hair lower than a length she can comb her fingers through.
I also think the aversion to beards is more because most are not maintained well. If conditioned and groomed properly it could be a different story. That’s kinda the goal of this thread is to get better education on such practices.
Yes, but I’d not just be considering my significant other when I trim my face. There’s gonna be a whole world full of people that are going to see my beard. The only person who’d be seeing HER fuzz is me…
