Keep me posted!
Wish I lived in the area, I’d go.
Good to see there are still some of us still enthused about the SG community, though.
Yogurt!? Tell us about the conversation!! I’m interested! I’d love to go there!! I’ll even consider the 2-hour drive.
Good luck. Hope you can get a scene going. Nothing worse than loving a game to death and being stuck online for games. =/
Real question, what is a good start time for people if we were to get weeklies started?
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaand the Yo-lish said no.
Son of a bitch. None of the major tournament venues are letting us host and no other venues seem interested in having us either. I call conspiracy.
Is there still a chance for the one that hasn’t opened up yet?
THE PATCH! IT HAS FINALLY COME!
Now we NEED to find east coast venues to host this. DESPERATELY!
Agh, finding a venue is harrd. Trying to get one that’s near the NY and NJ border, but it’s pretty difficult as filtering venues to have games & food leaves me with so little options. Either that, or I’m just lame at finding places.
SO. I have another lead. Does Kearny seem like a place people could get to for weekly meetups?
Fuck no.
GAAAAAH chibi you make this so hard on me!
Call the Gamer’s Paradise crew again.
I haven’t had the chance to. I honestly think they’re our best bet.
The main problem with Gamers Paradise was that they weren’t willing to give us a weekly or biweekly date. We would always just have to take dates that aren’t filled by their birthday parties, so we could always be bumped at the last minute. The secondary problem was they were a bit unflinching on 5/5 pot/venue which in my experience turns most of the scene away.
Kearny? As in that high school? Or that district bank? Or just the place in general? Anyway, I can join.
So, much to Chibi’s chagrin, that place near him repeatedly didn’t work out. However, the place in Kearny I was originally looking into kinda did.
It’s called Gamer’s Edge. It’s a brand new store that just opened up. It’s basically a HUGE ass gaming space with cheap microwavable food and snacks. People go there to play League of Legends tournaments and collectible card games all the time, but the owner wants to get into the fighting game biz. I showed him the math of pool versus venue fee and he agreed to a 7/3 split. This means first place will always make money, second place will make money at eight people, and third place will make money at 15 people signed up.
However, the most important thing is bodies. If we can’t routinely pull 10 people or over, he says he would rather use the space for something else. So guys… seriously… who is willing to come?
Do it and we’ll bring people. We’ll do more than just SG too. Throw in UMvC3 and the #s will come without question.
That place by me can kiss my ass.
Just how far is that from the Path?
Give me an address and/or tell what PATH stop to get off at and I’ll let you know. As long as it isn’t a journey I’m more than willing to come.
There’s also the VF and KoF scenes
I dunno if Local Battles was an option for ya’ll or the specifics but I’m sure you thought of it.
And seriously think about the frequency of this meetup. If a weekly is too hard on the community do it bi weekly or monthly.
