Lets play at Gameworks Thursday nights

Oh man, Sega Race TV was SO worth the wait!!!

Sega Race TV huh? I sent them three emails about SFIV. I’ll send one from the new email address I was given for fantasy football lol.

Pop n’ Music, yeaaaa!

I just e’mailed them and gave a pretty lengthy e’mail…not too long, like a minute read.

But how much do you think that gameworks cares about all this?

I was told by one of my buds, that also happens to be an AGM that if we e-mail home office enough they’ll get the games we ask for. So, I guess keep at it and we’ll see…

As for how much they care…I’ll tell you that it’s nill to none. I can back this theory up with the fact that we’ve been detrimentally low on techs since Tepid quit and I haven’t seen the company really try to put forth any REAL effort to try and hire new people. I can’t remember where I read it but somebody said “Gameworks was a joke of an establishment” and I’ll tell ya, they were right. I’m about ready to turn in my keys too.

I just think it’s a real shame that they don’t care when they’re really the only arcade alternative for people in the Seattle area. They could have peeps all over that place if they got SFIV. Hell, I WOULD drive out there for SFIV on Thursday nights (and other nights people showed up) if they got it. I suppose it’s more or less the question of if other people would show up but yeah. I mean if they can get VF5, or Sega Race TV (who wants to meet up for races? ft5 for 50?) they surely can get SFIV…

One would hope anyway. =/

so are the joysticks for mvc2 working properly again??

They seemed fine when I was there last time. They’re ‘B’ grade perfect 360 sticks. Don’t expect miracles, but they’re not going to fight against you.

Brian and I will make it out this Thursday to play 3S and Gauntlet. We will consider Marvel if the demand and turnout is high.

They’re the best they’re going to get for the time I’m allotted to work on them ( my boss actually jumped on my ass for spending to much time on the fighting games  ). The good news is that last time I ordered parts I ordered a crap load of extra stuff so if I start hearin’ that it’s going south again I’ll do my best to keep them up and working properly.

My Gameworks adventure:

  1. Marvel machine is in bad shape. Not the worst, but definitely can’t do two punches at once on the right stick. Also, the right stick suffers from the occasional down-right coma (offensive crouch, for you MAS stick owners).

  2. Brian and I get tired of playing with crappy Marvel controls, so we try to play something co-op or a racing game. We sit down at F-Zero because it was empty. Brian puts in his credit, and as soon as I try to swipe my card, the game goes into “network connection error” mode.

  3. We try to play Initial D Version 3 because it is right next to F-Zero. Brian puts in his credit, beings racing, and I challenge him. Then I found out my gas pedal doesn’t work (the left side). Lame. The steering wheels were ultra loose and kept spinning, too; forget 900 degree freedom, it was infinite rotational freedom.

  4. We try to go into the co-op shooters. We step into one of the rail shooter games, and we find that the right side is broken, so only one can play at a time. We step out and look for another shooter.

  5. We go to play Jurassic Park: The Lost Worlds, another rail shooter. This time, it accepts both our credits, and it seems like it’s working. Then as soon as we start playing, we notice the guns are horribly calibrated and you need to aim 3 feet to the right of where you wanted to shoot. Lame.

  6. We play this new game called Primeval Hunt, a dinosaur hunting game. You use your finger to draw a path of walking around on a small touchscreen below the main TV, and you begin shooting dinosaurs. The game sucks, and there’s no plastic iron-sights to aim down, so you pretty much fire blindly at nothing. This game sucks and is a waste of money. Yes, we beat it.

  7. I bought a $6 beer that tasted terrible. Then I took that beer, sat in Outrun and inserted my credit. The paddle shifters were loose and they wouldn’t register my inputs, so I was stuck with a Red Ferrari F50. Not bad. Since I could play this game with one hand, I used the other to hold my beer. Then the game starts up, I find myself in a Ferrari, blond chick by my side, and I had a beer in my hand. This is probably the most fun I had at Gameworks, because I created a mental euphoria for myself envisioning this. I was that bored.

  8. We go back to play Marvel, and the controls aren’t any better than when we left.

Gameworks lost our business until we hear from reliable sources that everything is fixed. Thanks Mind & Iron for trying; those sticks were much better feeling than the last time I went (a year ago). Also great to see zach, and all the other regulars there.

Wow the best post.

christ…

^they don’t even deserve SFIV.

LOL, I remember when Gameworks’ official Seattle launch was aired on MTV and they had Coolio there (amongst other artists) performing live. Man what happened? Hahah. Does anybody else remember that?

I was there. I remember thinking that Gillian Anderson is really short. And that Will Smith could probably beat the shit out of me–if I somehow got past his bodyguards. Gone are those days, along with Planet Hollywood. Don’t know if Niketown is still there. It was part of Norm Rice’s plans to make downtown Seattle more appealing to tourists. I guess there simply wasn’t enough business.

^ I remember watching that Beck performance on MTV and all. Everybody was there on opening night. Crazy that damn racing game is still there!!cheap bastards.

206!

But yeah man, Gameworks is a complete bust. I remember when I was younger, my Grandma used to always take me to the Funplex and when GW launched, I was like “You should take me there instead.” And my Uncle goes “Man that place sucks, don’t go there.”

Wise man.

It’s funny how when you’re a kid…you always seem to just blow off older folk. Like as a kid, half the time you know everything…but then you go to like…Funtasia, or Chuck’ E Cheeze…and you just get so let down. And then you’re like “Fuck, that one dude who told me this place sucked…damn he was right”

I don’t think I’m gonna be supporting Gameworks any more.

fuck if I didn’t work here I wouldn’t support the place either. I’m just going to try and keep the fighters up and running as well as possible while I look for a new job. Oh, FYI we just got the CPU for VF5 back from Japan and it’s up and running now “blackout” free.
