I didn’t say it’s bad, just that it’s boring to me. And the Japanese are much less boring than American players, and the gameplay changes completely. The US team got rocked at SBO because US play is dominated by turtling. The Japanese players rushed down every US player and they just died. I’ve got it all on DVD… shrug
Constant anything gameplay is boring to me. Marvel generally changes it up at the least and is much more creative overall. I used to play Third Strike every day, and just got bored of the same old shit everrrrrry day. I’m not realllllly interested in the same match with one or two key differences every time. Marvel really randomizes things, and I like that. Note that if left to myself in Marvel, I’ll randomly switch between teams all day long, and don’t really have any definitive Money team. I play for fun. I’ll play a couple more cohesive/better teams when forced to, but even then I pick what’s most fun for me, not what’s going to win. Clearly, Tron-based teams are massively limited, but I’d rather play Tron than win.
I would agree that Marvel changes it up a lot if everyone didn’t play Cable. Cable is so god damned one dimensional. I appreciate both games, though. I’d rather play non-top tier in Marvel than win, but I’m sure you’ve already figured that out. Jump bullet! OMG grenade! let’s just throw around all sorts of random chipping moves so slightly poke their health away until they make a mistake or call an assist - OH DAMN THERE GOES ALL YOUR ASSISTS HEALTH AND HALF YOURS, LOL
It’s like 10x worse that I have to be a low tier enthusiast, though. That’s probably why I hate Cable so god damned much. It’s actually fun to try to avoid rushdown and guess the highlow blocking and try to get them off you with cleverly timed assists and pushblocks, but Cable? Meh. Remind me not to complain later though, once I can get some practice in. I used to give people a run for their money with lower tiers, but ever since the everett arcade died, I stopped practicing. Someday guys, you will feel my wrath.
im there almost every day cuz my gf is the door host. i play 3s and get murked and i play marvel strider w/o doom HA! and the ugly ass hoodie is from 000000000 himself!
Yup, I play Chun as my main character in comp. But I don’t really play to win most of the time. I don’t turtle chun, or anyone in 3s, for that matter. It’s too boring. I rush at people with Chun (as weird as a rushdown chun sounds) and just try to parry whatever they throw at me, then punish the hell out of them. I still beat Paul pretty consistently. My Ken was alright, as was my Ryu. I have the most fun with Necro, though, even though I suck with him.
Marvel is another story. Against Zach, I was mostly blocking, ducking, running away and waiting for an opportunity to retaliate. That’s because I don’t know how to keep up with the frantic gameplay in higher levels. I’ve yet to gain the experience of playing against high-level MVC2 players regularly.
Sorry for the overly-drawn-out answer. Guess I ranted
Ninja Edit: Almost forgot Elena. She’s Actually the one I have the most fun with. I can actually keep up with the shotos, too. No turtling, there
I’d think for low tier users, that Sentinel would be worse than Cable. If for the simple fact that you could in theory do hella bomb combos on him, but how do you combat fly back, smack?? And repeated low laser, fly, unfly? How do you even get near him?? Besides there’s only like…4 Cable players left in the Cable capital of the world (Seattle).
i dont know where to post this… but i think ill be hittin vegas in a little over 2 weeks and ive been to gameworks before but dont remember much… i remember getting owned at mvc2… i was wondering if there are any other good arcades around the strip? i would prefer an arcade with guilty gear and mvc2
Personally, I enjoy playing against Sent. (Assists being a given) He doesn’t 'ave anything that annoys me or anything that is “instant”. Sure his HP is good but it doesn’t bother me like flinching and catching an AHVB instantly.
I will likely be there way way late. A friend’s band ( http://awesometheband.com ) is playing at Chop Suey at 8PM, and then there’s a pretty cool auction by the Rat City Roller Girls (I know a bunch of girls on the teams) at 10PM at the Fun House.
I think I convinced my brother to come along this time, he used to play a pretty mean Chun, but he hasn’t touched a game other than WoW in like a year. XD
