Lets play at Gameworks Thursday nights

ya, 3 out of 5 is quite the battle but it’s the only thing I can do to try and balance it out till I can get some face time with the general manager. I had the bast game tonight against Pablo…a Zangief mirror match, it was a regular fucking street fighter clash of the titans. good times and good games all. As always I’ll keep you posted about the game and the like.

I usually work till 11 on friday’s and saturdays though!

and they are open until 1! and players are there the whole time!

I kinda think 2 out of 3 rounds is better. I went in to play yesterday but it wasn’t even worth hanging around, because of how long the line to play was. SFIV is not so fun to watch, especially when everyone is just learning to play and still sucks at the game.

^-- That’s why I think they should put better non-Tekken games next to it. I’ll spend the $ to play it, but I too get bored waiting. =\

That’s why you come to Narrows and watch Mickey link every ground normal into a sweep.

fuck cr mp, cr hk link

i dont see why everyone wants to play at gw, and then everyone complains about the “scrubs”. there is another place to play stop complaining and man up play some beefy comp here in tacoma

I think you mean, the best comp in our region, is what you meant to say.

qft^

Right, because Tacoma is the most accessible place for those of us living Seattle. Aside from when the game first dropped and I spent $30 of gas round trip, I really don’t feel like going down there unless it is monday or a tournament. No one willingly goes to Tacoma.

ive been to gw 2x… and what i hear from people is that king is the only person worth playing. ive played king, and it is very true its a intensely mentally rewarding match for me.

i hear horror stories from people about gw… "damn there are like 10 people in line, and the only good person is king. blah blah blah blah blah blah. nobody is worth playing cause everyone is a scrub blah blah blah blah. "

so here is my question to you all. WHAT are you playing for?? are you playing to COMPETE? or are you playing to COMPLAIN. dont bitch about gw because there is another place to play. everyone has an option. play at gw and shut the fuck up, or shut the fuck up and play at narrows.

oh yah i agree… only days worth going to narrows is monday, tourney, and some weekends. but noone other than the regulars ever shows up on mondays.

It’s almost like people who keep playing will get better over time, in theory. =\

Also, I’m sad that they used Third Strike normal cancel rules instead of Marvel normal cancel rules. I kept trying to do RH xx dragon punch and failing. Woulda worked in Marvel. =\

I have no complaints so far. I’m still getting used to Rufus so I don’t wanna get peaced out in 2 secs (like I was against Billy) without getting the chance to learn the ins and outs of my character. Also, I agree with Pablo. I really want to head to Narrows (almost did yesterday) but its a 3 hour roundtrip for me. And for what? I’ll get to hang out with people I haven’t seen in some time but really I’m not at the level where playing them will improve my game.
We really don’t need any kind of artificial segregation in our scene. I’m not sure where this Narrows/GW rift is coming from. We can play at both places when its convenient.

There is no Narrows/GW rift, despite the fact that I’m sure many people want one. I agree with Frank. A lot of people have been posting about how they hate the lines at GW, it almost always seems like it’s something different. We just want more nigs playing the game period. And we see peeps posting all this so we go “hey why not play at Narrows =D!”

SFIV is crack doggies. Spread the love.

oh there is no rift. im just mad cause all people do is jump on this thread and complain about gw. I then throw out the option for narrows, and someone complains about narrows gas cost. well guess you cant please everyone what ever.

anyways… when all of us are there, you dont level up from playing… you mostly level up from what people say, and the suggestions and critique you get from cole, mandel, mickey. all night long they are like… “remember this” “try this” “do this” “see what you can do with this idea/setup” constantly all night long whoever beat you tells you what you did wrong, and how to beat them the next tiem you play. its like 5 hours of sf4 class. learning and testing. not just about wins… (well other than mickey lol he just get streaks like none other)

If my options are to either wait in a 10 person line at GW or drive to Tacoma the decision is obvious. Don’t play at all. I’m gonna try to hit up GW on a weekday morning and see how that goes.

Well, GW does get good players every now and then…Billy, King, Thefuture, Mickey D, etc.

For me:

GW= 20 min drive

Narrows= 1 hour drive

Trust me, I’d much rather go to Narrows, but the distance is a bit much. I suppose I’ll have to endure the long, scrub-tastic lines for now. GW isn’t so bad at around 1 pm on a weekday.

I know, and it is appreciated :tup: Hopefully management will smarten up and go back to $1 & 2/3 rounds, but 3/5 works just fine when the rotations are small.

Word. I just wanna make sure there’s no hate is all.

Frank, I totally get what you’re saying. Actually, one of the reasons I wanted to go yesterday was that I heard Mandel was beasting with Rufus and wanted some advice. Information on the intarwebs is sparse other than vids.

I agree with what Frank and Mandel are saying. People here are always complaining about how shitty wait times are, getting scrubs off the cabinet, and things like that. But the fact of the matter is, how good are you really getting by playing these random’s? There isn’t too many great players that go to gameworks really…and with that you don’t get the experience of what you need to learn HOW to win.

I understand that right now people are content with just trying to LEARN the game…but right now, 1 hours worth at gameworks can be acquired in about 15 minutes worth at Narrows. Everyone is teaching everyone on what is good, what people need to work on, what things to be looking for in a match, etc.

I can say personally, when I go to gameworks (1-2 times a week), I only go to fine tune my technique, and make sure I’m not slipping, OR to try new things out. I don’t go to gameworks to learn…and that’s the point people are making. If your a new player, and you feel as if you’ve hit a plateau, then you need to stop complaining and come to Narrows, it’s really simple as that.

I understand that it costs money to make the trip down to Tacoma…but when you are down to learn with the best right now, that’s where we’ll be.

I also want to say real quick that I’m not trying to down gameworks in any way. I’m just saying that there really IS a reason why we are wanting people to go to Narrow’s. It’s so that we can all get better as a community…something you won’t see at gameworks.
